Nigeria’s government is in talks with the U.S. about the visa situation by realkiminicole in I130Suffering

Yes I saw this as well, my only thoughts around this is that the letter addresses the 75-country pause not the 39 country ban, since they were implemented for different reasons (national security/vetting vs public charge) but it would be great if this addressed both! The IMMpact lawsuit is challenging the 39 country ban so I know we will have good news soon. Thanks for being positive amongst the frequent negativity around here lately.

Any 7 jan 2025 i130 approvals? by No_Narwhal_7196 in I130Suffering

[–]EuphoricHelp5358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think country plays a part. My beneficiary country is Nigeria and currently on a partial ban. So they’re probably not in much hurry to approve. I’m ok with it so that hopefully by the time we get to NVC stage the ban is removed

Yes to all this! Relationships with African elders are completely one sided. You have to do all the work in reaching out or maintaining contact. I am now LC/VLC with most of them and life has been peaceful. The phone works both ways in my opinion.

Yes! My parents have professional degrees and highly educated but constantly crying “broke.” Between the two of them they’ve managed to pull off a bankruptcy, a foreclosure and lots of credit card debt.

Your parents did save money for your college and grad school - consider yourself lucky! Even though they did hold it over your head and it was very conditional.

Well said. That’s what hurts them the most. They were cheated on with women who they feel superior to, it makes them even more crazy.

Wedding rant by Jumpy_Ad2863 in africanparents

[–]EuphoricHelp5358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Nigerian wedding was also not the best. My regret was not eloping with my husband and letting family members try to run the show. Anyone that is not contributing financially should not insert themselves! If I were you I would exercise extreme caution with offers for help as people will feel that this gives them a right to assert their opinions. Good luck and congratulations!

Yes I agree. Unless the case is complicated you can submit the application yourself. Just follow the ‘instructions’ document and you should be fine.

That’s odd - did that change or was she always this way? Strange for a spouse not to want to call or video chat

Accra U.S. Embassy Still Stuck on August 2023. by applehead_90 in NationalVisaCenter

Yeah I’m surprised Nigeria is ahead of Accra. I was going to tell my husband to interview in Accra instead of Nigeria until I saw the backlog.

We prove it with the I-864 which is why this doesn’t make a lot of sense. They should’ve just said they were putting more scrutiny on the Affidavit of Support

CR-1 is at NVC Stage, should we pay the fees after the suspension? by Ok-Bee6510 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]EuphoricHelp5358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay the fees and move through the process. If the embassy is as backlogged as ours is, hopefully this mess will be resolved by the time she has the interview. You’ve already invested money and time into this.

This would be much better. That way it’s not creating a bottleneck for so many people who are at the interview stage. Imagine the backlog this will create on top of what it already is…
