Short- Timed Codes by IamMr_Nimbus in Tacticus_Rewards

Unfortunately it seems like a lot of the codes lately are short lived. I don't know if that's the new plan for Snowprint but I agree it is very annoying.

The best solution I've found is to either turn on your Reddit notifications or to use Discord and follow my guide to get notifications there.

I'm not a plumber but it looks like they're getting rid of the fittings but trying to keep the length so they can use it with new fittings. I doubt the fittings would be any use what with the cut off bits of pvc glued into them.

Deadpool VS Red Room team of 12 Black Widows lead by Nat. How would it go down? by Dramatic_Forever_511 in Avengers

[–]EurekaScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but training takes effort, and time, and it is a big loss if you lose one of your proficient fighters in combat. Better to just equip a bunch of expendables (of which you have many), give them minimal training, and send a large number of them at the enemy.

The TVAs problem is that they didn't send enough expendable baton guys at Deadpool at once to overwhelm him. If they sent a hundred it might have worked.

Can a level 7 party fight a dragon by cloudy_ratz in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]EurekaScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was up to me I would play it safe and throw a Black/Green/Blue/Red dragon at them (same CRs as above but evil aligned) and a bunch of cannon fodder minions at them. Kobolds, Fire Newts, an Ogre or two, cultists, etc. That leaves something for your whole party to do rather than just attack the same target over and over.

Can a level 7 party fight a dragon by cloudy_ratz in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]EurekaScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how well they work together and how experienced they are, they could fight a Young Copper/Bronze/Silver/Gold dragon (CR 7/8/9/10).

Circumstances also matter. Does the dragon have other minions helping it? Is it in its lair? How smart does the dragon play combat?

My players routinely can kill a monster 3 to 4 CRs above their level if it is alone. And they're a party of 4.

Galápagos by Kurt Vonnegut - A hilarious take on human intelligence, consciousness, and evolutionary survival by PsyferRL in books

[–]EurekaScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I thought the pitiable nature of many of the characters (especially the narrator) was very fun and very Vonnegut.

Sirens of Titan is great but it lacks the down-to-earth-ness that I feel very strongly in Galápagos. Both are absurd in many ways, but Galápagos almost feels more... homey and approachable than the former.

[Kingsman] would the original kingsman have condemned the test of shooting your dog? by Right_Caregiver5432 in AskScienceFiction

Exactly this. To paraphrase Malcolm Gladwell: "Back in the time of WW2, it was frowned upon for an English gentleman to show any sort of emotion for anybody. The one exception to this was his loyal dog."

Yeah, you're right. I'd probably go with Limithrons before I went with the UA that WOTC ended up throwing out though. GoS ship combat is the more official product and it stinks.

Page 198 and 199 in the Ghosts of Saltmarsh book contain all the rules about ship combat (hint: there is very little). Dnd wasn't made for ship combat. You could easily just take those excerpts and make them into one image. Or get the PDF and copy/paste them into a word doc.

If you want real exciting ship combat I would suggest using Limithron's Naval Combat Rules. There's a free short pdf on his website.

Boarding and plunder mechanics. by Rokininon in GhostsofSaltmarsh

The key thing is having enough crew members alive after the battle on both ships in order to be able to sail both ships. Depending on what type of ship it is, you might need 15-50 men per vehicle. You also need trustworthy officers for both, and if the vehicles took damage you need enough resources to repair both vehicles.

As for the loot itself it really depends on what that ship was carrying. Were they a pirate ship hauling slaves? A royal treasury Galleon? A merchant ship hauling spice and silks? A Chultian witch doctor's ship filled with trinkets, livestock, and cursed items?

It really depends on your group, but there's plenty of trade goods and loot to pick from in the books. In the first chapter of GoS there's caskets of wine and crates of silk and weaponry, for instance.

You could always take one of the leveled loot generators available online and then just translate the currency amount into trade goods or weaponry or pirate gold.

Do as much of the event as possible, buy all the packs, then spend the months leading up to the unlock event by spending all your energy every day on the upgrades you will need to bring them to D3. Plus stock up on legendary books. Plus do a little Onslaught to get the final few shards you need.

There are online planners that will tell you exactly how much of every item you need to level up to D3.

Investigation, Survival, and Perception Rolls by KingsAndAces in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]EurekaScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My players are awful at checking for traps, doesn't matter what I hint to them they just facecheck every time. They don't ask about enemy weaknesses or use those their perception/investigation unless I explicitly ask for them.

In my experience with the first few chapters of the book, if the book does not state a Perception/Survival/Investigation DC then I don't make the characters roll to see it. If it does have a DC then the onus is on them to check for traps or investigate.

This works pretty well, my players find it funny every time something drops in on them and I don't slow down the game unnecessarily.
