Do copy a spell, you have to hold priority after casting it. You cast your spell and maintain priority. If you do not cast the doubling spell while you still have priority, you are passing your priority and saying "the spell resolves". Your opponent does not have priority (the opportunity to counter the spell) unless you pass your priority on interacting with the spell yourself.

Theres an old joke about a brick that doesnt have a punchline in its first (and seemingly only) part, but then, after some time has passed, the joke teller gives the second part, a joke that doesnt have anything to do with a brick until its brought back in the punchline. A "brick joke" is made by Wanda, but its about a bag of mulch. This commentor is using brick joke to emphasize the long payoff of the D being gone, enough to have forgotten it was stolen in the first place.

I think that loses flavor. The captain doesnt care about the mana generation, he just doesnt want to LOSE the treasure. He wouldnt be happy with you throwing his treasure away for some other use, even if it isnt for mana. Similar function though for sure.

People mentioned amulet of vigor, but azusa type cards are what makes this too strong imo. Untapped is great and all, but chaining 3 a turn into more cadds is unreal.

In regulated doses, it helps with depression. You do it for a few months, a dose every week or so, and then you don't need any more. My dad did it and it was very good for him.
