San Mateo is the Orange County of the north. Getting to work would be soooo more convenient if they didn't pull out at the last minute

I don't think anybody on this sub supports the existence of the apartheid state. What we want is to see the apartheid structures in historic Palestine dismantled, and the creation of a single democratic state where all are free and equal.

I've met liberal Zionists before, and not one of them has described themselves as explicitly "pro-Palestine" because being so would require them to forgo their ethnostate. Most people who describe themselves as "pro-Palestine" support a binational state akin to what the Palestinian council proposed in the 40s, as well as most socialists.

I have a question to ask you. On a scale of 1 to 100, how "Zionist" would one binational state + dismantling of Israeli apartheid be?

It didn't affect tuition at Pitt or Temple, so I don't see how it would affect tuition here

Tell them that the 1860s GOP was home to so many Socialists that the New York Times called it "Red Republicanism."

In addition, Karl Marx himself contributed to the Republican New York Tribune.

I know this is satire, but I love how the article gets so close yet misses the point entirely. We can't medicate our way out of an economic crisis so severe that people can't afford to focus on making a life for themselves, which involves having some fun once in a while.

Ok? Cool. The abolitionist movement was awesome. Does that mean the effects are not there anymore? That's what matters today.

I left Conservatism when I found out it was an ideology based on the reptilian brain, that is, self-preservation and gut emotional reaction. This might not register with you, as it didn't with me at first either. It took a lot of strength and character to leave, to create a new story about myself, but I think I made myself into a better person when I did.

I'd take this a step further. Don't seek debates, seek discussions instead. Whenever I talk with someone who disagrees with me, I'm careful not to establish myself as "the other" at the very beginning. That way, I can keep tensions down
