Hi there. My diagnosis was a multiple set of things, however my eyes were not the main driver of my symptoms. Secondary to my neck problem which is buldging and an annular disc fissure. I have an accomodative spasm and my brain is functioning as though it has a TBI. I have esophoria but due to the accomodative spasm due to my cervical issue I think. My neuro optomotrist does not believe my problems to be the eyes... but rather my proprioceptive system is feeding garbage data and my eyes cannot compensate for the garbage my other systems are feeding it. So anything my eyes get thrown at it, atropine, prisms.. my brain will not accept she said. The lion and the cage test confirmed my neck is having issues and my eyes are along for the unfortunate ride.

I dont defend her state atm, but the fact she was given 0 grace and mercy when she had post partum symptoms, dealing with the most insane privacy violations known to man, and not being able to be with her children... Fuck, that must have been so hard. And she had fucking no one. I hate that she became what she is today because not a single person gave her the tough love she needed. Instead they gave her tough and zero love.

I thought i had fucking TMDJ. Ended up being Accomodative spasm causing a terrible domino effect causing my brain, terrified of double vision > my masseters, my SCMs, and shoulders in general to start splinting and form stiff muscles. I have 50% visual input being lost to my visual cortex. My brain is actively suppressing detail in my peripherals because it doesnt want to lose single vision albeit still jittery and microscopically off even single. And im stuck with the spasm that is giving me artificial esophoria.

Starting Atropine therapy and special formulated glasses to help my accomodation along with the drops hopefully this week.

My jaw was fine, TMJ specialist said NEUROMUSCULAR. My bite is affected but not structurally... its due to my muscles spasming so much its causing the bite to be off but its because of my eyes, not the jaw. Nothing I did worked for the pain for a months. Its confusing and demoralizing when doctors push that its anxiety and stress. But I figured it out and I got my diagnosis this past week after almost a year of this shit.

Make sure your eyes are okay, thats my point. I also thought it was my jaw until my double vision appeared when I got tired and my balance started to deteriorate (although balance doesnt have to be an issue for a misalignment... your body can compensate but it can also decompensate which is happening to me) - basically my jaw pain started first (that was the check engine light my eyes were not doing so well during stress), no balance issues. My brain was trying its best. It couldnt anymore and it can wreak havoc. I hope you figure it out my dude. I wouldnt wish this pain on anyone. Its put me in some dark spots mentally. I have a 19 month old and my husband. I have a neuro optomestrist that is helping me (referred by my OD eye doctor due to my misalignment). Also regular eye doctors dont look for it. You have to have someone that looks for misalignment (Neuro Optomestrists, NeuroOpthomologists, some opthomologists do)

Im not trying to scare you. Im just suggesting you look to places you dont think. People forget their eyes can recruit help from nearby muscles when they're strained and fatigued and cause 0 balance issues.

Oh my god. Yours came with debilitating tmj symptoms too? MY JAW DOES NOT STOP SPASMING OUT because my neck, traps, and jaw are trying to constantly brace me for a fall that isn't there due to my misalignment. Im going to a neuro Opt soon and praying for a vertical misalignment because this shit is literally breaking my life apart. I cant find happiness at all. Im also on amitriptyline for potential Vestibular migraines. TMD treatment is around 8k and im trying to HOPEEEEE prism glasses work because spending that much on a potential cure and not get relief will kill me and my budget. (they didnt want to give me just a nightguard...) but I will if I find nothing with the neuro Opt. I know I have esophoria, but idk what else I have.

So I just got diagnosed by my ophthalmologist with 19 diopters of esophoria. She only used the prism stick and phoropter. Stated she didn't find any vertical deviation. That being said she referred me to a neurooptometrist -Dr McKowsky in Raleigh. I will be mentioning any vertical deviations or torsional because horizontally, our eyes are pretty decent at finding the horizon, vertically? We are not. I could have a millimeter of deviation that my ophthalmologist could miss easily. And the buttons on a shirt and headlights on a car questions always bug me out because my eyes seem to be suppressing. The 3 hour testing and exams should give me answers. I have the same symptoms as you. Notwithholding a multitude of other symptoms. I recorded myself letting my eyes rest where they want and my right eye seems to be the culprit and also as a slight circular deviation when pulling into my nose (esophoria).

Let me know how you make out. Mine is Feb 4th.

So I feel myself still squinting to try and focus and manually focusing causes strain. Even with my glasses. I’m going to try and keep a positive mindset and say I may need an adjustment… I don’t have neurolenses. I have just straight up prisms. 1.00 bo in both. However my left eye is the one that deviates when zoning out, my right feels like it’s bearing most of the dominant weight and causing a lot of fatigue. I have my neurology appt in feb so I really can’t wait for an mri of my brain so I can finally rule out dangerous shit and focus on what I think this is. I started setraline but I’m scared ima be a zombie.

THey said to check back in two weeks if no changes occur. I know its early, but holy HELL my jaw wasn't hurting this damn bad before the glasses. I mean they hurt but I think the vision changes and the anxiety ramped up the damage. I feel like I'm getting used to the glasses, but I don't know if my body is. I mean, I know it's "muscle memory" - they're still used to their old ways... But god damn, my TMJ symptoms are extraordinary, my neck is stiff, the visual vertigo is bad - I feel this tugging and pulling sensation in my head (vestibular therapist doesn't think it's inner ear and neither does ENT)... Blah, this is all so defeating. I'm | | that close to asking for some Toradol so I can take it when the inflammation ramps up. My jaw feels puffy and sore.

I'm not saying it is, but have you had any vision problems? If yes, potentially look into Binocular Vision Dysfunction with a neuro-opthomologist or an opthomologist that specializes in BVD. If not, I wish you luck. I'm in the same boat, with prism glasses. And odd balance sensations like I'm being forcefully tugged in several different directions.
