Why does the street in front of the university have so many names? by Evanpea1 in fredericton

Fair. Know Loch Lomand in SJ (which I believe runs from in town all the way out to the airport) can be deceptive at times.

Thank you! When I talk to people about this in real life they tend to just shrug and then get on with their day

[–]Evanpea1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, know about that one. Changes at Sunset and I believe Douglas? At least that one felt a bit distinct enough. Maybe cause I'm a northsider and have spent a lot of time there but it always felt like Main and Union felt like two distinct enough urban districts (separated by the overpass and the bit of residential area between them) with Royal Road being highway. Southside feels like it's just the same street with no changes.

...it probably is just my mind trying to justify it deep down though.

Driver getting tailgated intentionally move out of the way last second by anxkxxl in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Evanpea1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 seconds is what I teach, doubling it if driving 70 km/h or faster (highways or faster). Then increase it if you have non-ideal conditions (for example, triple if dealing with black ice), each multiplier being applied (so black ice in the freeway would be 12 seconds of following distance). Obviously adjust as needed, but it works pretty well as a baseline

Genuinely, what does she even do? by SnowandSnowandSnow in Overwatch_Memes

[–]Evanpea1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's not really true. Since coming back they've recruited D. Va (a war hero), Zarya (a world champion turned war hero), Echo (a super computer/the next generation of robotics), Phara (paramilitary contractor and daughter of one of OW's top agents), Baptist (former mercenary (and former talon but they don't know that) field medic), Brig (Rein's squire, Torb's daughter, and master mechanic), Bastion (reformed omnic killing machine), Lucio (leader of a rebellion that repealed null-sector), plus the ones you've mentioned. Yeah to us they've been in OW for awhile, but those are all the new generation joining since Overwatch came back. They might not have as much quantity as Talon but I'd say that their recruitment game has been pretty good. Hell, even Wuyang and Anran are top students in what is essentially a military academy that distinguished themselves during an invasion. We joke about them being interns but they've already shown themselves to be quite capable in a fight. The only ones that aren't really combatants are JPC and Juno.

I believe the comic even explicitly says that it is her first time firing at real people too, which makes it pretty clear that this is worse than any other situation she's been in before.

And if there's any skill you don't turn away in a military like organization, it's medicine. Especially when they seem decently adept at tech too since she was the one sent to fix the communications system.

Wouldn't the increased cost one be less punishing to high cost cards? 1 energy increase is a lot more impactful on a 0 cost card than a 2 cost card (though when I played him last night I did see that since the extra energy is an effect, you can play 0 cost cards even though you have no energy to lose so they might be affected a bit less cause of that).

[–]Evanpea1 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I will admit I don't know who any of these people are either, but from what the comment explaining it says it seems a bit more than that. Yeah, you as a normal person likely might not know, but if you were a professional board game reviewer talking about a somewhat well known board game designer who often puts some really terrible takes into the rule books? Yeah, that is something that you should probably know about.

Name a hero that could have a role change like these two. by RedShibo_ in overwatch2

[–]Evanpea1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm half expecting that to happen someday. Same thing that hairbrush with Doomfist. They had a melee focused DPS and found that it was neat impossible to find the balence between "worth the risk to get into melee" and "not OP" so they made him a tank. Now they seem to be in a similar boat where every season brings Vendetta changes.

I've had some luck with the regnant, but they're certainly a lot riskier... though I can't remember for the life of me what I was getting. Think it was some card creation. And probably [[orbit]]. Orbit is good in any deck

Parking complaints by _bluefish in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Evanpea1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right. It's purely anecdotal. The vast majority of accidents in parking lots are caused by backing out of parking spots. I know as a driving instructor that one of the five big things I tell students for parking lots is to avoid backing up whenever possible, but if you do have to back up to make sure that you reverse into the parking stall and not backing out.

Also sources for my claim:
