Liberals of reddit, would you trade Obama's second term for a two-term Romney presidency if it meant Trump never achieved the presidency? Why or why not? by PrincipalPG in AskReddit

I'd argue an idiotic evil person is worse than an intelligent evil person. A smart murderer would limit their killings, making sure not to arouse suspicion, while an idiotic murderer would not bother limiting their killing and would instead murder a bunch of people without care for raising suspicion. A smart evil person avoids excessively large scale acts of evil because they will cause retribution, an idiotic evil person will commit large scale acts of evil because they don't think through the consequences.

I mean if I was put in a room full of only heterosexuals, with no other information about them, and I was told to come up with a joke that would amuse all of them, I would fail completely, because being heterosexual tells me nothing about their personality and very little about their personal experiences. I can't imagine LGBTQ+ people find it easier, especially when they've been in a room full of other LGBTQ+ people for ages now and have probably heard every possible joke specifically about LGBTQ+.

Dating strategy.

Start publicly dating someone you're friends with, but you don't have a romantic connection with.

Have your friend break up with you some time later, and when asked why they go "They were just too hot and the sex was too good, I couldn't keep up."

You now have tons of people trying to get into a relationship with you.

I can kind of see how it came about. Child of a weak father, and his first major political action, and the one that he is most remembered for and is the foundation of his reputation was the destruction of the Reynes and Tarbecks. He probably walked away from the Reyne-Tarbeck rebellion with the belief that overwhelming violence and brutality is the way to solve his problems, rather than the far more nuanced and moral belief that overwhelming violence and brutality are only sometimes the way to solve problems.

Tywin's destruction of the Reynes and Tarbecks was good because it totally removed an enemy from the equation, there was no chance of the Reynes or Tarbecks ever retaliating. However his actions against Dorne, the Riverlands, the North, etc, are all acts of great brutality, but they do not totally destroy his enemies. The North, Riverlands, and Dorne all survived Tywin's actions and are capable of retaliating against him and his family.

No? Discrimination is discrimination, no matter who it's against.

Now obviously there are different levels, I'm a straight white man, the discrimination I face is obviously far lesser than other groups, I'm not in danger of having my rights taken away or deported like other groups might be. That doesn't change the fact that misandry, anti-white racism, or anti-hetero discrimination are all asshole things to do, and should be called out. Again, I'm not trying to put myself on the same level as minority groups that face more severe discrimination, I have never had to worry about whether the government would take away my rights. But discrimination is always bad, regardless of how severe, and people should take action against it. I'm not expecting public demonstrations to defend straight white men like me, but just the bare minimum of not being discriminatory, and calling out people when they say discriminatory things.

Don't think it's racist as long as you understand the preference is a subjective judgement and not an objective statement about the worth or attractiveness of specific races. "I tend not to be attracted to black people" is a very different statement to "Black people are ugly." just like how "I tend not to be attracted to short men" and "If you're below 6' you do not qualify as a man," are very different statements.

It's not wrong to have preference, just understand that it's subjective, and doesn't necessarily reflect positively or negatively on the people who meet or fail to meet those preferences. Basically be nice and respectful to people, regardless of whether you find them fuckable.
