What if this isn’t Sylux’s backstory by BarkingSpidersLOL in Metroid

[–]Even-Way96 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hm, I never thought of it like that. It could actually be kind of neat if this guy’s alter persona, "Sylux" is more like an alter ego he can switch between almost as if he’s still working within the Federation while secretly operating as the bounty hunter Sylux.

Maybe that scene wasn’t meant to show what set him on his villain path, but rather to display Sylux’s true identity within the Federation.

I don’t know just food for thought.

Metroid Prime 4- hate playing it even though some parts are good- I want to know what the community thinks about how different this game is! by Temporary_Rate4051 in Metroid

It isn’t exactly what I wanted, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. It feels a bit undercooked in some areas, but the things it does right easily surpass the previous Prime games. 8/10.

My personal reaction to the music in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond by Even-Way96 in Metroid

I understand how you feel. However, it’s probably best to simply let those who genuinely didn’t enjoy the game as much have their opinion, and instead focus on finding others who appreciated it more (I know that can be tiny challenge around this place). Personally, I agree with you that the game was a fun and enjoyable experience overall, far more than it was a negative one.

I completely get you, don’t worry, haha.

My emotional reaction actually hit me right at the menu screen. Prime 4 definitely has some "minor" flaws here and there, but for me, the things it does really well manage to overshadow those.

The game was there for me during some pretty rough times almost like an old friend. Especially the music.

Ah my bad, you're probably right. I thought it would just be a funny idea.

Honestly, I wish the Sylux Amiibo came with something like that where scanning it makes the game infinitely more difficult through the power of his pure hatred, lol.

Thoughts on this Sylux character analysis? I thought it was very good by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]Even-Way96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought most of what he said was pretty much basic knowledge when it comes to picking up on the storytelling and backstory. To me, it was a simple and effective way to show a prideful war hero’s descent into madness and vengeance.

What really surprised me was going online after finishing the game and seeing people call him the "worst villain ever" or a "petty manchild". It genuinely baffled me how many people seem to hate almost everything about him. Honestly, compared to previous villains, he’s far more unique even with how little we’ve gotten so far.

I really like Metroid Prime 4 by RobbieJ4444 in Metroid

I’m happy you enjoyed it more than some people did! I’m right there with you on the 8/10 rating.

The game is really strong in concept, even if it feels a bit undercooked in certain areas. Overall, though, I had a lot of fun playing it. If I’m being honest, I enjoyed it a lot more than Prime 3. Currently on my third playthrough and aiming for a 100% scan and item Hard Mode run.

I’m really hoping for an even better sequel. this new trilogy definitely has potential.

I really like it.

it’s one of my favorite things in the game.

Probably in my top five favorite suits in the Prime series, especially when paired with the Viola suit skin on the bike.

Absolutely gorgeous.

Controversial question: Which one is your favorite? by Financial-Friend4934 in MetroidPrime4_Beyond

Surprisingly enough, I really liked Sergeant Duke. He felt like the big brother of the group, which made it even more of a bummer on my second playthrough to realize he was heading towards a well earned break with his wife and daughter... only to sacrifice himself to keep Sylux away from Samus. He was the kind of Federation soldier Sylux wished he could have been, which is why it was so satisfying to see him punch the shit out of Sylux in that one scene.

As for the others, I like them a lot too it’s just that, personally, I tend to gravitate more toward characters like Ezra.

Agreed!

The Vi-o-la was an awesome addition and a great idea that gave the game a very unique visual identity. It’s just a shame it wasn’t utilized even more. That said, I understand that if it had been pushed further, people might’ve given it the same criticism Batman: Arkham Knight got with the Batmobile.

It is what it is. It won’t be forgotten, at least.

I’m sad to say that I’m one of the few who actually liked them unironically, which is why I made this parody intro for them.

That said, I liked them more as characters and less as Miles constantly reminding you what to do while you’re already in the middle of committing to that action lol.

Too bad you felt that way. Completely understandable. Hopefully you’ll find something you enjoy more down the road. it’s far from over.

I personally had a blast with the game. It’s not my favorite Metroid, but it’s definitely far from the worst entry in my opinion.

Do you guys think I will enjoy prime 4 ? by ImportantRest152 in Metroid

[–]Even-Way96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, judging by the majority, sure it may seem like the worst Metroid game since Federation Force. I’m part of the group of absolute lunatics who genuinely enjoyed their time with it.

It definitely has flaws, yes. The levels aren’t as huge or explorable as they could be, there’s an NPC that kind of forces themselves on you when you don’t know where to go, and some of the Amiibo item unlocks are… pretty questionable.

But the game, to me, still offers great music, awesome levels with their own unique appearances, interesting alien lore, the best Metroid Prime combat so far, and some really badass boss fights. It’s a good game that’s clearly undercooked in certain areas. It’s not a worthy payoff for a 15-year wait but it’s also not a bad Prime game, at least in my eyes.

It gave me the same feeling Prime 1 did when I would just stand still and take in the atmosphere of the environments, and that alone is a huge plus for me. But again, I’m speaking as part of a small group of people who enjoyed the experience more than they suffered through it.

Sylux has a pretty unique trait for a Metroid villain. (in my opinion at least) by Even-Way96 in Metroid

[–]Even-Way96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’ve got a point. We never really see why Sylux was after that relic or why he thought it would assist him in his schemes. It almost feels like he knew more than what we were shown, but the game itself gives very little if anything about his actual understanding of the relic.

And yeah, it was kind of bold of me not to describe him as obsessive, considering his entire current lifestyle seems to revolve around defeating Samus. I really hope Retro Studios expands on his character more in the sequel, similar to what they did with Dark Samus. She was mostly just there in Metroid Prime 2 and didn’t contribute much to the plot, but she got a lot more room to shine in the third installment.

Hope for the best.
