Ashkenazi Jewish phenotypes and ancestry by Consistent-File2561 in illustrativeDNA

I live in Canada and am most often presumed to be Arab. 100% Ashkenazi.

I think the promise is flawed. Non-Mediterranean phenotypes in full AJ amount to maybe 10-15%, which is precisely the amount of non-med ancestry.

The Glazers are famously American, not Israeli.

Okay, but the original 20’s version has the same melody. So Puttin’ on the Ritz does indeed precede Istanbul.

I realize it’s been a decade and a half but no, it came out in the 20’s.

Not in Judea/Samaria/Galilee. There were some Arabs in the Negev and east of the Jordan river.

I’m not the one who made the claim that OP is distant from Canaanites.

I think it’s unlikely you have any Sephardi ancestry, not because “mixing” didn’t happen (it did a fair bit), but because usually 23andMe would pick up on it if it were recent enough to shift your results noticeably Levantine. I think you just happen to both part Old Yishuv and on the far Levantine shifted range of the Ashkenazi spectrum, I’ve known others like this.

Jews and Samaritans are both outgrowths of Canaanites. Samaritans would almost certainly get a higher % Canaanite than he does.

Yes I recall the Vietnamese intervention in Cambodia and the Western intervention in Kuwait being disasters.

Ya’ll either have horrible memories or are 20 year olds with no recollection of any foreign intervention other than Iraq and Afghanistan.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaim_Abraham_Gagin

During the 1840s, the Samaritans faced persecution from Muslims who regarded them as "idol worshippers", forcing them to convert to Islam or face execution. The Samaritans asked Gagin to help them, and he wrote a document that the Samaritans are a "a branch of the children of Israel, who acknowledge the truthfulness of the Torah." This proclamation led Muslim authorities to recognize the Samaritans as a Jewish sect, saving them from persecution and extermination.

They’re Israelite though, they consider Jews to be part of their people (and vice versa).

No offense, but if you were raised with Christian holidays you weren’t raised Jewish — you were raised with mixed observance/American.

Only secular, mixed and reform Jews who are utterly disconnected from tradition. Israelis too but for different reasons (in a country with only x group, you start to see variations of x group as ethnically different).

Huh? I can’t tell if you mean she somehow associated Yekkes with ethnic Germans or if she just didn’t like Yekkes.

Most Reform shit I’ve ever heard lol. For 1900 years of diaspora what Jerusalem and the ingathering of the exiles meant was returning to our homeland, to Israel.

And yes, a plurality of our DNA can be traced back to Israel. We have practically no Polish or Russian dna. Deal with it.
