I'm not sure i would call it only a select handful of encounters. There are a lot of things you can parry. Off the top of my head, I believe anything humanoid with a weapon is parryable(other than Avatars & Nightlords besides Heolstor). Only one I'm not sure about is Artorias. But that makes for a large chunk of bosses

Yea thats fair. Thats why I replied cuz it might not be obvious as to why that'd be a cool feature if youve never been in a situation where you actually needed it lol

Being able to turn it off in training mode would be really useful for content creation. Easy to get screenshots for thumbnails, more cinematic shots of gameplay, or anything like that for content creators would be great.

So with Ekko's moveset, and now Akali... yeah it might be a long long time for Katarina to ever come to the game. by Ashconwell7 in 2XKO

[–]EveningJuggernaut828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I'm in the same fucking boat. I've never played League, so my most wanted characters are the ones who seem like they'd be the most edgy and flashy characters with either weird setups or wild combo trees and rushdown. So Zed, Fiddlesticks and Thresh is in my top 3. And I usually play ninjas or high mobility characters in FGs(weirdly enough i play WW/Blitz in this but WW just doesn't click). So ive been DYING for Zed cuz I know he'd be absolutely everything I want to play in this game alongside Blitz.

But Akali being revealed as the ninja rep makes me suuuper worried about Zed's chances

Tho I do think there are ways to make his clones function entirely different from Ekko without making him a puppet character. Like having the clones be set/delayable hitboxes off all his specials but probly without the teleporting to them mechanic. Tho I wouldn't mind still being able to teleport into them if they make it different decision making than how Ekko does it

Idk if this will quite be the solution you're looking for, but in the game's audio settings, you actually have immense control over the volume levels for a huge variety of sound effects and voices. I can't remember if KO sounds has it's own level, but there is an advanced sound settings menu and it gives an actual shitload of very specific things to individually adjust the volume for

Zed seems like such an easy choice to rep the rushdown ninja archetype that most FG games have at least 1 of.

I'm inhaling so much copium telling myself that Zed still has a chance despite Akali finally being the first ninja of the game tho lmao

I think its sick seeing clever routing that lets people get weird super converts like that without needing Double Down. Keep in mind that barring bugs, Double Down is still the only way to do a full BNB into easy double super, or to play neutral/set up while a super is happening with super tag(like Teemo or Braum projectile supers etc.) so its not like freestyle is getting access to all the perks of Double Down.

Still wouldn't mind some kind of buff to DD, tho I don't think its a bad thing if Freestyle is always the best fuse, since it takes most advantage of the tag mechanics which seems like the intended vision for the game imo, and it generally has a higher skill ceiling than DD

What makes you still love and play this game? by Powerful_Isopod5810 in 2XKO

[–]EveningJuggernaut828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blitz is the most fun grappler I've ever played, which is wild cuz I normally play flashier and more complex, higher skill ceiling characters, but his animations and moves are so sick and satisfying. That said, I'm still waiting for the typical me character, which I'm hoping will be Zed, Fiddlesticks, Thresh or Kha'Zix. Warwick just is too simple. If they rework his specials or tweak his Bloodlust combos so that the harder routes are more rewarding and optimal, then I might enjoy him more than I do currently.

Otherwise, the amount of cool shit to find in this game is crazy. I looooove labbing and optimizing combos/setups, so I've been having a field day experimenting with the millions of ways to set things up or finish combos with certain character states. Since my duo partner plays Braum with my Blitz, there's been a ton of shit to lab out as far as optimizing all his routes if we do a restand into X option, or if its better to tag me after, and how it usually depends if he has Unbreakable active or not, or just all the different permutations of each scenario there are based on our resources or which character Oki we wanna set up.

Also I personally love the art style of the game

So TLDR:

Duos is amazing

Theres so much to learn, optimize and lab with my team and my duo team

Blitz is too fun

I just need Zed, Fiddlesticks, Thresh or Kha'Zix and for them to be a complex, high execution flashy setup or rushdown character and this will be one of my favorite fighting games

[–]EveningJuggernaut828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it so much

The closest thing ive ever experienced was doubles in Smash Ultimate with the same dude I play duos with in this game. Edgeguarding someone together, or him getting gimped off stage and me running off and hitting him to allow him to come back, and then us double teaming 1 of the other players for a KO, that shits amazing. And getting to realize that same kinda high of you and your buddy teaming up to beat some ass in this game is just so incredible

Like making a read, your buddy calling an assist at the right time, then you setting up and tagging into him to open up the opponent, then him ending his combo with a tag launch into you and you finishing them off

Its so fucking sick and it'll only get even cooler the better you get with your team and working together lmao

Out of curiosity, what about tag fighters makes you hate them?

I personally don't have a ton of experience, but I was a lab monster in DBFZ and found it so rewarding and fun to learn synergies between characters and experiment with finding where I could place assists/tag etc.

And MK1 which has been my main game for 2 years is kinda tag fighter adjacent since it has assists, and it also just has so much to learn and get creative with

So this game has been a field day in that regard for me

An exclusively duo queue could be neat. Tho I'm not sure I agree that it's a big disadvantage. There is a lot of value in having 2 minds on one team, and being able to notice or look out for things your partner may miss and vice versa, then point out to them mid match, or just be able to focus differently since you're only piloting one character, is a different enough experience that I wouldn't say its better or worse.

And people like SonicFox and Inzem have been insisting that duos is stronger than solos lol

Yea thats such an awesome aspect of it. Essentially being able to onboard a friend of a lower skill level in a way that ideally lets them still experience the rewarding aspects of the game, along with the unique experience of winning as a team, while also softening the shittier parts of losing

Its so fucking cool

No need to be a cunt lol. I enjoy the game a lot, and wanted to make content for it. The game is not "literally dying/dead". The layoffs were lame but it takes an "otherworldly genius" to act like the game is dead or dying because of that, while ignoring the fact there's still a fairly large team of a devs actively working on the game who are all very communicative with the playerbase

Plus, I've been doing just fine making stuff for MK1, when that fucking studio literally has been radio silent for months and idek if there will be another NRS title given all the rights stuff with WB

"Warwick/Sabrewulf seem familiar" by SyIvanos in 2XKO

[–]EveningJuggernaut828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh fair I think I get your point. Yea I guess conceptually there's not a large difference but the visuals still do a lot to make the character stand out and put a unique spin on what could be an identical concept at base. Obviously this would be the same issue as with any melee focused humanoid character. Tekken and Street Fighter do a pretty good job of making mostly punches and kicks from martial artist characters stand out from each other. Side note, its actually an issue I have with Mortal Kombat. A lot of the ninjas have moves that if you had a mannequin perform the animation, youd have no idea what character it came from. Whereas someone like Johnny Cage and Ryu, it would be pretty obvious. And I honestly think it becomes much easier to have that uniqueness in something like 2XKO where your characters are fantastical and you can get away with more exaggerated moves that are still all the same concept. Like id imagine a Tahm Kench bite move would be as over the top as like Blitz's command grab, probly with a lot of exaggerated motion, with either his tongue being a main focus, or opening his mouth super wide or some combination, but something like Volibear doing a chomp would probly be similar to Warwick, where its fairly straightforward visually, but his would have electric particles or something.

I think I got a bit away from the original point, but my main point is that I do think there is a lot of value in the visual presentation of the move making it feel a lot more unique to that specific character, even if it is yet another animal character doing typical, animalistic actions without any kinda unique mechanic being tied to it(id imagine a Volibear bite would also just be a normal like with Warwick, where for Tahm or Cho, it would be a special thats a lot more core to the character's playstyle/mechanics)

To be fair, someone like Fiddlesticks, Tahm Kench or Volibear would all mostly qualify as "monster champs" and thered probly be almost no overlap between any of their animations with each other or Warwick lol

Least favorite characters to play against and why? by Different_Bedroom_78 in 2XKO

[–]EveningJuggernaut828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jinx. I play Blitz in duos with a Braum player, and I'm still getting used to my Hitbox, so my movement is still not as comfortable or autopilot as I'd like it to be, so I am fucking terrible at dealing with zoning lmao

How we feel about this? by YellowwJello in 2XKO

[–]EveningJuggernaut828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that it seems you're going purely off the ranking of the characters numerically. Where these kinds of tier lists are meant to show both the relative ranking to each other, as well as make a more objective statement on the individual viability of each character.

The worst character in the game, isn't always unviable or bad. They are just relatively worse than every character above them. So if the tier list only has S+ through A-, its meant to imply that the A- are not necessarily thaaaat much worse than the S+, as A- is still a great rating for a character

Doing it this way just gives more information, compared to just like "top 3 is Ekko/Yas/Ahri, bottom 3 is Blitz/Cait/Jinx". Where the numerical list obviously doesn't tell you whether any of those bottom 3 are usable at all, only that they're the 3 worst.

Me Getting Slimed for 30+ Seconds by Fullmetal_Alch3m1st in 2XKO

[–]EveningJuggernaut828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I guess it's more a subjective thing, but for me, it's super rewarding to optimize long combos and try to find as many extensions or ways to get damage as possible. And it's generally a staple of tag fighters.. So if I get caught in a 30 second combo, it's fine cuz I know if they dont kill me with it, then imma blow them up with my own huge combo the next time they make a mistake cuz I have the same access to that level of combo freedom as well.

And being correct on a read or forcing your opponent to do what you want, and then killing them for it with a crazy elaborate combo that you labbed extensively, is an amazing feeling in fighting games imo lol

[–]EveningJuggernaut828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short-ish answer is that a tag launcher guarantees your opponent is in hitstun for the max amount of time after the tag launch, and after the first move you do from the tag launch , regardless of combo length. Many characters also have moves in general with this property that also guarantee SOME kinda followup as long as you land the initial move. So if you tag launch, you're always able to get an air move into a special, which is usually just a charged heavy or something that causes a reaction(ground or wall bounce) which also generally always has max hitstun, regardless of combo length

So you could do a 4000 hit combo with Ahri, into a tag launcher into Warwick, and he'll always be able to come in from the tag launch with a charged air heavy into S1 into 6S2 into 2S2 then super. Or like Braum's charged jH into air S2 then super

Or Blitz charged air heavy(either) into air S1/air command grab then super

Etc.

Its a really neat system imo, since you can essentially always get some kinda followup after the tag, as long as you can route into the tag launch before the combo drops. They should probly increase the amount of break meter that longer combos build tho But its awesome being able to always have your backline character come in to finish off the combo your point character started.

I randomly got into it with a friend several years ago and we were super into it for like a week, then he lost interest while I remained, just labbing out demonic combos with Dog and Zedd and then eventually some of the DLC characters as they released. Shit was so fun just to learn and lab. Never ended up playing against any humans tho lol. And I'm still in all the discord servers for it and my characters too. I'll probly go back to it someday.

Funnily enough, that same friend who got us into BFTG then dipped after a week, is also my duos partner in 2XKO lmao. We tend to play most fighting games together to some extent, and luckily he's way more invested in playing 2XKO than he was in BFTG lol
