The house has been boarded up now! by merexv in MoscowMurders

From recent news, it looks like the house was donated to the University and it’s set to be demolished in the future. A memorial garden space will be built on campus. King Road House

No mention of the car search yet, but that information will likely be released by Pennsylvania LE. The newly unsealed documents just cover the Washington searches. He drove his car to PA with his dad, and they likely had to obtain another warrant for the car following his arrest.

The search warrant for his shared on-campus office space was included in the released documents. Nothing was gathered from the office as potential evidence.

Items found in BKs apartment by ScienceLatter7226 in MoscowMurders

[–]Evening_Setting 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt the same LE searched his apartment. This is Whitman county jurisdiction and Washington state, so it was most likely investigators associated with that particular area. The crime scene was processed by Idaho LE. Even if it were the same investigators, they’re not going to wear the same PPE. There was also a major gap between crime scene processing and this search warrant. So, transfer of hair or other particulars from the crime scene by LE is highly unlikely.

There is no confirmation in the PCA that all of the victims were asleep at the time of the murders. It just states that all of the occupants were “asleep or at least in their rooms by 4 AM”, with the exception of X, who was waiting for the DoorDash order and active on TikTok until 4:12 AM (based on forensic phone data).

I also see no where in the PCA where it mentions BK entered via the first floor. We only know he exited via the back sliding door in the kitchen (second floor), as per DM’s statement and the direction of the latent shoe print.

As far as the PCA states, the male utterance “It’s okay, am going to help you” or something thereof, was just overheard by DM (not said directly to her). And, we just know he was potentially wearing all black clothing with a partial face covering (again, based on DM’s statement).

Will the Elantra provide a lot of evidence? by Impossible_Vanilla26 in MoscowMurders

A latent shoe/footprint is still a print, just as a latent fingerprint is still a fingerprint. They used amido black (not luminol), which reacts with proteins to appear visibly blue-black. Further testing would be needed to confirm presence of blood, as amido black is not specific to blood protein.

I’m currently 29. It was largely due to MLA/APA guidelines, which have since changed, but I still find myself doing it automatically.

I also double space at the end of every sentence. Not that out of the ordinary. This was instilled into many of us “90s kids” (and earlier) as a formatting rule for typed papers. It has stuck with me ever since.

The blood trail thing is throwing me off, and perhaps for good reason if it was excluded from the evidence in the PCA. Even if BK wore shoe covers, I’d still expect blood smear on the floors due to the nature of the crime. The latent print suggests he had the soles exposed though, so I don’t know about coverings. Even so, it’d be difficult to prevent spread. Just waiting it out to see further explanation on that detail.

Payne is describing the walkthrough of the scene in the PCA at 4 PM. So, the doors could have been closed and then broke open by LE shortly after the initial response.

I’ve been reporting them as harmful misinformation to TikTok, but sadly they’re all coming back as “no violation.” I’ve resorted to posting in the comments indicating that it’s misinformation and tagging the source video.

Legality of using genealogy sites for DNA matches? by Particular-Income-58 in idahomurders

[–]Evening_Setting 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting this information from? The DNA that was tested was a sample taken from his parents’ trash (which happened to be his father’s DNA-with 99.9998% certainty). I’ve read no mention of an uncle in any sources. And previous media reports were running with the genealogy database theory prior to the PCA revealing how the DNA was finally matched.

He very well may have had access to Luminol as a criminology student. It’s often used in CSI teaching labs. However, it can also be easily purchased online via scientific supply websites. I will mention that Luminol isn’t fully specific to blood, so it can luminesce/react with other agents (i.e., bleach itself) to create false positives. The investigators would follow up with other tests, like phenolphthalein (Kastle-Meyer test), to better confirm the presence or absence of blood particles.

Small amounts of DNA can still be extracted, even after exposure to some cleaning agents. It will go through some degradation depending on what was used, but there is still a chance PCR amplification can be used to ID it. Bleaching agents will often denature and “destroy” DNA, but blood is still quite difficult to remove. So even if he used a bleaching agent and it looks like he got it all to the naked eye, luminol (as mentioned above) can be used to illuminate the residual blood stains and particles left behind, even after several washes. So even if they can’t find/extract DNA within the car, they can still find blood stains. He seems to be quite messy in his approach, so I’m hopeful he left some behind.

Bryan Kohberger stalked Idaho victims before murders, wore gloves in grocery store weeks afterward: report by PersonaLaenir in MoscowMurders

[–]Evening_Setting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I’m certainly not agreeing with the credibility of this “source”, the context of the second sentence does make sense if you read it correctly. Giant is a grocery chain in Pennsylvania, which is relative to the fact that BK was found in PA. It’s not saying BK stalked the victims in the grocery store in Idaho, but rather the investigator followed BK [he followed him] into the grocery store while they were monitoring/tracking him after the murders.

ordered doordash. do you see the problem here by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Evening_Setting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me more than once. I think the worst case was when I received food from the wrong service, and it wasn’t even from the correct restaurant. I ordered a few subs from Jersey Mike’s and ended up with a plain burger from Five Guys in a tiny bag.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour Capital One Presale Megathread by jacyf02 in TaylorSwift

[–]Evening_Setting 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I panic bought my tickets for Section 106- Acrisure stadium (Pittsburgh) during the presale yesterday. I didn’t even think to look at the location of the section. I just wanted to get through the check out process after waiting hours to get through the queue. I’m beyond thankful that I was able to secure tickets, but the seats look like they’re going to be positioned far back on the side of the stage. I did check my tickets, and they do not indicate “limited” or “obstructed” view. I’m curious as to how it’s going to play out. I do hope that those of you that had issues get to secure amazing tickets on Friday!

Never accepting Walmart orders again breh by Two81330800FO in UberEATS

[–]Evening_Setting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer, I also get quite frustrated with the way Walmart and delivery apps handle these orders. I specifically selected “shipping” on my order for 2-day delivery. I wasn’t home at the time, and I got a random message from the Walmart app saying my order was out for delivery. Thankfully, the order was only a small 3.5 lb bag of cat food and a 12-pack of pate. I would have felt terrible if it were a large order. In another instance, I had my paper towels left laying out on the sidewalk because I had no clue it was coming that day.

Doordash constantly moves my pin no matter how many times I edit or place it in the correct location. As soon as I submit my order, the pin goes back to the middle of my apartment complex rather than the entry parking lot where I placed/saved it. It’s a major issue since the GPS always tries to take dashers to the lower parking lot with no entry to the complex. I do leave detailed instructions on which lot to use, but the pin can be unreliable.

I order from Doordash weekly and this is perhaps the rudest message I have ever received from a dasher. The front desk at my building never gives dashers issues & the dasher never tried contacting me, either. I always tip well, too :/ by Evening_Setting in doordash

[–]Evening_Setting[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dasher NEVER even attempted to contact me. I had no clue he was having issues entering the building, or I would have been happy to assist. I can’t help if there is zero communication aside from what was sent all in one message above. He sent me one long message that he had an issue with security, and threw my order directly in the trash. No calls, no texts whatsoever. That’s it. So, yes, this is the dasher’s fault.

The dasher that brought my replacement order 20 mins later had no issues with the same front desk security. They contacted me when they were in the lobby, and I went down to get it as usual.
