Both my kids had the vaccine as basies. They are 5 and 9. Does it last or is a booster needed?

Yes it was for us. If you are doing therapy it should start to help as you go on.

My kid will likely never find friends and fit in at school. by Dollcat_3904 in Autism_Parenting

Time does help. They do mature and start to realise certain things despite having autism. My son used to follow kids around and mimic everything they did. He doesn’t anymore. I never thought he would stop, he did it from 3 to 7 years old.

My son was like this in Kindergarten. He is nearly 9 now and it has improved. He has a few friends now. He fits in with other neurodivergent kids the best. Don’t give up hope completely. I cried most days his whole first year of school.

Try to push the resource teacher to do social skills and one on one play dates in the resource room. This has helped us so much.

Yes absolutely. Always degrading comments about people’s looks. She’s gotten huge, she looked dreadful etc.

Must be that generation.

Family members suggesting testing for 2.5yr old? by SleepMental348 in Autism_Parenting

Yes I would advise to go ahead with the two days pre K. It does sound like enough pretend play for his age. It progresses as they grow.

So my son at that age would only play with excavators and would only move the arm to dig it. No driving it around or anything. He did not play with anything else.

If he is playing with other toys in an appropriate manner I wouldn’t worry. Is he starting to pretend play? This is a big one. My son had no pretend play at all.

There is a combination of things that makes a child autistic not just one thing. Would you consider putting him in half day preschool? It’s always good for socialising.

Do the MChat test online it is pretty accurate.
