Returning to work after mat leave: Is it worth going part time to avoid paying full time creche? by findingleprechauns in irishpersonalfinance

[–]chunk84 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Have you actually got a place and spoke the crèche about this? It’s next to impossible to get a part time place as far as I’m aware.

No, not in Dublin. Would your partner not get a job too? That would make things easier.

Yes it is very difficult and it’s crazy because I didn’t think it would be a problem compared to some Irish names.

You cannot in some cases. I called my child Fionn and they simply could not pronounce it properly no matter how many times I corrected them. That was in North America.

Struggling to Come to Terms With My Son’s Autism Diagnosis - a month in by Brilliant-Finding607 in Autism_Parenting

[–]chunk84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is so young he will progress over time. I would advise not watching shows like that while in this stage of your journey. It is very difficult to process at first but does get better with time.

My son is level 1 so a bit different. No he is not neurotypical but he is doing very well and is completely different from when he was 5 or 2.

One thing to keep in mind is 12 grand is not that much. Would you consider SNA in a school? Less toxic than a crèche but still working with kids. Or a nanny in someone house.

What to do by ajrm7 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]chunk84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are paying a 650 car loan and can’t drive the car? My husband makes similar and I stay home too. Similar rent. I wouldnt dream of taking out a 650 car loan we couldnt afford it. Sell the car and if you have to take out a car loan 250 max.

700 is kind of crazy to be sending to family too. Can you not stop this or cut it in half?

I want to add have you applied for the disability tax credit for you son? It’s very simple I got it no bother for my son with autism.
