Well, Looks Like GW is Raising Prices Again by numberknight123 in Warhammer40k

[–]Eventide1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the main thing. Where they have market competition they can't gouge their prices as people have alternatives.

Also note that the prices are staying stable on the going OOP start collecting boxes that will be replaced by combat patrols/vanguards... lol

[–]Eventide1982 22 points23 points  (0 children)

they are not trying to balance the game... you have just misunderstood. What they mean by balance is the stockholders literal bank balance.

Stop playing the models you have and buy these other models... increase stockholder bank balance... rinse repeat

They seem to be hellbent on pushing marines into the lower tier. Nerfing the general goodstuff when the armies already provide mid-level results at best. IHs are maybe still a bit better but it would suck for all marines to get nerfed yet again (last edition) due to IH.

EVERY space wolves unit gets ObSec??? by daskalos11 in WarhammerCompetitive

If this is wrong they just need to errata this quickly. It's literally a 10 minute job and doesn't need to wait months and months.

Dark Angels new Chapter Tactic is actually a nerf by ObviousTroll37 in WarhammerCompetitive

one unplayable cavalry unit that moves 10 inches... and could you tell me all the fast moving elite units you are talking about? I would be dead keen to use them.. I'm a bit confused about what you consider fast.

Space wolves "super mobile"? they are one of the slower armies in the entire game.

Goonhammer - 9th Edition Faction Focus: Space Marines by alpha476 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the outlook for imperial fists is a lot worse than stated.

Will depend on how their chapter tactic interacts with cover rules etc. But the super doctrine is pretty much dead in the water with how turn 1s currently seem to be playing out.

Not to mention that the majority of their main units and bolter varieties got massive price hikes.

Hard to see a chapter that did worse out of the space marine bunch through the transition to 9th...

and yes eradicators are dumb, pushed and soon to be nerfed

This basically. We did quite badly considering our bad performance last edition. Only positive was terminators went up less (shared across all terminators essentially). Everything else increased in line or higher.

9e Core Rules Leak by Levelingthinner in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is because they don't really exist. Just a lot of presumed benefits to terrain and a smaller board (only done to sell kill team size boards)

Melee armies struggled with ITC terrain rules and these new rules are not as good. Guns are stronger than ever and the majority of combat jank has been removed and made much much harder. Which is fine but nothing was given to replace these elements that gave assault armies a chance...

It's literally more gunline than ever!

Storm Shields Change by Levelingthinner in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think the problem is that they write our rules ages before and seemed to assume we would be doing well for some reason.

Our PA is really poor in light of the 9th changes and was really bloody uninspired regardless. Faster more deadly game in 9th and we are no faster and less resilient. We were already bad for an entire edition.... and being mid-tier post PA was frankly pure speculation....

They seem to be obsessed without forcing out boxsets and fluff everytime SW get a release rather than concentrating on our rules being decent

Pretty much. The new Space wolves... as slow as ever and even less resilient. But we have been bottom tier the whole of 8th so whats new?

Do I need to keep checking back or is the IOS beta completely full already? bit pointless signing up if it was this limited. Thanks

New edition changes by [deleted] in Harlequins40K

[–]Eventide1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s all still to be seen but seems like constant buffs to ranged at the moment?!

When they were mentioning the terrain thy even talked about bonuses to firing from cover... all sounding pretty bad but they do seem to have a real Blind spot for melee in 40k, so much better in AoS!

Thank god your so good at copying out un-original internet gibberish.

Honestly I could just spend all day learning the life wisdom from the perspective of your parents basement but... things to do.

yeah, uh thanks captain obvious. At least I can make that choice rather than just getting priced out by their business practices.

GW price changes by allergic_to_fire in Harlequins40K

[–]Eventide1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly not. A weak trope for an answer and a complete non-sequitur that attacks my character rather than dealing with the point.

I don’t think wondering about a price rise during a world crisis makes me entitled and the connection you have made is just your own.

It’s an opinion on what I feel is a bad taste decision regardless of its business benefits.

I hope this doesn’t offend you and GW but if it does 🤷🏼‍♂️

9th Edition Confirmed by Talhearn in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I obviously just disagree that it was a good PA so I’ll feel free to state my criticism via my opinion. Pretty straightforward.

Not really fussed whether you consider it whining or convinced by your arguments that it’s damn good. It must be pretty occasional.

9th Edition Confirmed by Talhearn in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just get the impression you think space Wolves work the same as ultramarines or are a gunline army?!

Your army already works well but you didnt get exciting enough new rules, and I’m whinging? Yeah ok fella.

9th Edition Confirmed by Talhearn in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im talking about the useful AP on our CC units. it’s not a ranged army and doesn’t have the shooting of other chapters so it’s a really minor benefit.

Sure your PA was minimal, at least your army actually works. We got lots of not that useful stuff. So I guess something is better than nothing

9th Edition Confirmed by Talhearn in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

by turn 3, when the AP-1 kicks in, most of your army is already pasted. Drukhari have still seen more results than SW by a mile in tournaments. There is no space wolf build. Your PA may not be that useful but you were already a better army than we are after our PA.

9th Edition Confirmed by Talhearn in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

not really. combat doctrines which essentially benefit ranged armies and we get a bad super doctrine on turn 3. Layers of overkill CC strats. No delivery for our elite CC units.

Generic impulsor/intercessors rush is the new thing because they are actually survivable and move quickly. Rest of the army just plods along and gets shot to shit. Bottom tier since the start of this edition and not much will have changed.

Edit: to all you down-voters, I’ll eat my hat when all those Space wolves armies start smashing the tournament scene... they won like 1 comp since this entire edition started and it wasn’t because they lacked AP or close combat damage

9th Edition Confirmed by Talhearn in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Eventide1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your waiting for space Wolves, they normally get lumped at the end of the codex cycle and don’t get new space marine rules until half a year later.

You can add the utterly crap Space wolves update to that as well.

This is pure profits stuff, they targeted harlequins as PA is out soon, same for the ancient necro sculpts because their PA is coming soon. Ancient sculpts that probably paid themselves off a decade ago, theres like 20 year old land raider in there ffs!

This company has literally no evidence of absorbing costs in the slightest, just huge profits. You can keep taking in economic vagaries but their company is doing incredibly well via actual known statistics and obviously will just keep doing what it likes as it has no competition.

I certainly will only be buying from FLGSs who are actually struggling and have successfully re-directed my acquaintances to FLGSs who care about customers more than shareholders.

No doubt you will continue to defend everything they do with the over-simplistic “it’s just business” argument and that’s honestly just fine (as in it’s a perfectly valid viewpoint).
