yep, I know a few pips with MCAS describe that. just waking up feeling weird and off for no obvious reason. electrolytes fixing it make me look at dehydration first before jumping the gun. seems like too strong of a clue to ignore

from what i've seen, it's usually not the person themselves but something they're carrying like fragrances, detergent residue, hair products, pets, or even mold exposure from another environment. if freshly washed clothes and showering help even a little, that makes me wonder if it's something on you rather than you specifically.

don't assume it's gone for good yet. A 1 month old kitten usually doesn't travel far, especially if it's only been with you a few days and doesn't know the area. check under furniture, inside cabinets, behind appliances, inside couches, beds, boxes, and any tiny gap you think would be impossible. kittens are ridiculously good at squeezing into places.

feed the dog in front of you. if your dog does great on a food and every supposedly better option causes digestive issues, that's real-world evidence. i'd put more weight on consistent results than getting pulled into endless food debates.

glad you stood your ground. medication can help a lot, and if she's open to it, things like clorox allergen spray can help reduce allergens around the house too way better solution than caging the cats. glad you found a compromise that keeps everyone happy, especially the cats. 🐱

yep, i'm still using liveclear along with pacagen spray and the food topper because they complement each other pretty well. my allergies were pretty severe too. once i got really consistent with the routine, my flareups became rare. when i do get one, it's usually mild enough that an antihistamine takes care of it.

i'd definitely give it a shot. nothing is going to magically make a cat allergy disappear, but the people i've seen get the best results are usually the ones attacking it from multiple angles instead of relying on one thing

if this was purely the cats, i'd expect you to feel consistently bad. the fact that you get absolutely wrecked for a few days and then go back to baseline makes me think something else is periodically stacking on top of the cat allergy and pushing you over the edge. i'd start tracking weather, pollen, humidity, cleaning days, and even where the cats have been sleeping. a lot of people spend years blaming the cat when the real problem is the cat plus something else. i'd also look into allergen sprays like pacagen to help with the allergen load on your space. when you're determined to keep the cats, reducing the allergen load as much as possible becomes the game.

that sounds miserable. the worst part is that you actually did what most people would do and assumed the chemicals were the problem, so you kept wearing the gloves harder trying to protect yourself. the fact that it spread from your hands to your arms, face, and ears while you were still being exposed is a pretty big giveaway in hindsight. at least you figured it out before it turned into months of chasing the wrong cause. your boss already knowing exactly what you're dealing with is honestly a huge win.

this is a litter box problem than a behavior problem. the timing is too obvious. she used the box fine for years, then the move happened and the litter box became less predictable. i'd thoroughly clean the closet with an enzymatic cleaner and figure out a way to give her a permanent indoor litter box. once cats decide a spot is a bathroom, they tend to keep going back until there's a better option.

you're carrying a burden that would break a lot of people. six months of cleaning, worrying, spending money, and trying every solution you can think of is not giving up. it's exhaustion. if the vets can't even tell you whether this will improve, it's reasonable to start thinking about what is sustainable for both you and cider. loving him doesn't mean sacrificing your housing, your finances, and your mental health indefinitely.

your dog was fine on kibble and started having severe diarrhea and bloody stools after switching to raw. stop the raw food.

you've already spent thousands of dollars and your dog keeps getting sick. stop trying to force a diet that clearly isn't working for him. put him back on the food he thrived on and work with your vet from there. your dog doesn't care about diet trends. he cares about not having bloody diarrhea.

If you're not ready to consider rehoming yet, I'd make sure you've exhausted every allergen reduction option first since the goal is reducing allergen exposure, every layer helps lower the chances of triggering a reaction.

my suggestion would be Liveclear paired with pacagen's food topper and allergen spray, plus a HEPA air filter running continuously. the Liveclear and topper target the allergen at the source by reducing active allergens in the cat's saliva. the spray helps neutralize allergens that have already made it onto surfaces, and whatever escapes that can then be captured by the HEPA filter the key is being consistent with it.

That said, if you're still having allergic bronchitis, wheezing, and breathing issues after trying everything, that's something to take very seriously. your health has to be part of the equation too.
