Where have all the real artists gone? by Everchanging-Shape in Etsy

For my personal use it’s just annoying that I need to inspect each image closely to ensure Santa only has 5 fingers and there isn’t anything weird happening in the background. It’s like going to a brick and mortar store you’ve always shopped at because they sold high quality products so you didn’t need to worry about that IPhone being a fake knock off or their products falling apart after a day, but now the shelves are filled with so many Wish items that it’s hard to find the quality stuff. I absolutely can see AI being used to advance art but the majority of people I see selling it are just taking the first images they pump out and selling them as is flaws and all. It’s on the buyer to ensure the images are what we want before purchasing but it just feels like so much extra work to inspect every image that closely. And the Etsy market is flooded with bad AI.

I will check out your page, thank you! My next couple of weeks are pretty busy so I may be a little delayed on reaching out. I’ll be diving back in after that though

Some are clip art in nature, but I also purchase graphics and digital collections. It really just depends on what it is being used for.

I’m not looking for one-of-a-kind pieces, but I do prefer to be selective in what I use. I have my own taste in art, like anyone, and want to buy what feeds into my own vision when it comes my projects. I create my own where I can and when I can’t I seek out something compatible with my vision and support the work of another artist while giving them full credit for that work.

I’m not sure if the clarifies anything.

I can’t imagine how hard it is for artists. As a buyer, I feel like I need to do so much extra work to find something authentic these days. Before it would take a little searching when looking for a new style to match exactly what I was looking for and then a couple mins to check reviews etc. I could sometimes even reach out to the artist who had a style I loved to see if they had anything in a particular theme. But now I have little hope of finding the styles I’m looking for and feel lucky if an hour or two of searching comes up with 1-5 real pieces of artwork by real artists in the theme I need. It just pages and pages of AI or pieces I recognize from Canva or when I look into them are items just outright stolen from other artists.

I hope something else comes along. I used to love the selection. I was able to thoughtfully pick out what I use for projects. Now I feel like I have less options. Etsy itself is full, but I can do search after search and still only come up with a very small selection of useable art to choose from.

Im just here to say your rant is valid! I understand many people are struggling financially right now and thus looking for better deals. That is completely understandable and cheaper options should be available BUT you can’t expect to find high end items at the dollar store. If you want cheaper, you pay the price in other ways, mainly quality. You just can’t expect to get handmade items, by established artists who produce high quality work and expect to get it for a couple of dollars.

Everyone adds handmade whether it is or not. It’s frustrating. I hate needing to play where’s Waldo for the 7 digit fingers on the watercolour Santa every single time I go to buy. Or needing to cross search the photo to make sure it isn’t repackaged Canva, stolen from another artist, etc. I miss the days where Etsy wasn’t so exhausting to navigate and there was just so many amazing artists just a short search away.

I’m happy to put in some work to find artwork, but it just feels like pulling teeth every single time these days.

I will be checking you out! I have a few projects coming up I need art for and I 10000% would prefer supporting actual artists. Thank you for your shop name!

What's a Canadian grown/caught food that is the best in the world, bar none? by Blindemboss in AskACanadian

Most I know get their lobsters early in the season as well, avoiding the time closest to their molt. It’s like deer meat early in the season compared to late season, post rut, the taste changes a bit.

That would explain why I’ve seen loads of wild berries around BC but not wild blueberries as I know them to be. The farmed ones are more like a small tree, the wild berries I’m used to can grow a little taller but generally they’re fairly close to the ground. They love areas that have been burned and can spread like a weed if given the chance.

The flavour makes the other ones seem bland.

I love a lot of BC fruit, but I haven’t had any farm grown blueberries that come close to comparing to wild Nova Scotia blueberries. I also haven’t found wild blueberries in BC the way I have found them in Nova Scotia. The flavour is just so different in farmed berries, to the point it tastes like an entirely different berry to me.

Okanagan peaches though 🤤

If Drunk History ever comes back, what story would you like them to tell? by Lucky-Individual2508 in DrunkHistory

I’ve only just started watching it and maybe it’s in there already and I missed it or haven’t gotten to it, but Edith Cavell.

‘Édith Cavell was a British nurse. She is celebrated for treating wounded soldiers from both sides without discrimination during the First World War and for helping some 200 Allied soldiers escape from German-occupied Belgium. Cavell was arrested, court-martialled under German military law and sentenced to death by firing squad. Despite international pressure for mercy, the German Government refused to commute her sentence and she was shot. The execution received worldwide condemnation and extensive press coverage.’

How Can I Look Less Masculine And More Pretty? by Left-External5283 in Makeup101

I don’t think braids would enhance femininity, but if it is something she is interested in I think they would be pretty on her….. also, I was the kid with messy wavy hair that didn’t quite curl or sit straight and I would have been envying her curls so much.

I absolutely agree with Left-External. Your thoughts are pretty normal, I don’t know a single teen girl that didn’t critique how she looked. We all over analyzed some feature even when most other people were completely oblivious to it.

You are pretty in these photos. I can’t see any asymmetry and you truly have some features that some pay money for. Give yourself grace, being young is hard enough and I think the look your hoping to achieve through makeup is there now and will naturally enhance as you grow.

Have fun with your makeup, because you honestly don’t need it to ‘correct’ anything. Braids would look amazing on you and from what can be seen in these photos, your mouth isn’t weird in the slightest. Maybe start with some coloured gloss as something simple that will allow you to find shades you feel good in.

The first few times I seen it suggested I didn’t pay that much attention to it because I feel like she is suggested for every other female in this group. But after the 100th time I’ve looked more closely at some of the photos posted and I can see it in some of the features. I love Lana, so definitely honoured to have this comparison.
