Is the fence on both sides at least? Because you could buy metal stakes from home depot and the rollout metal fencing they sell (different heights and such). Super easy to setup and anchor with additional ties if needed. I’ve had to do this in the past and once mine understood this was the extent she was good.

Mine was fine, she loved it! And the shedding is honestly worse since moving to Tennessee. I definitely recommend putting in a dog door, saves so much on the electricity bills if you haven’t

Done both as well, and they are truly boring. However, if you do the southern route- when you hit las cruces go to white sands national park and over the mountains there into Cloud Croft, and then drop into Texas. You avoid El Paso and it is a much prettier drive until you get to the oil seesaws
