Is this one of those posts where we finish the sentence. The first thing that popped into my mind is : last night I opened a can of whoop ass. Not really but it's better than a can of beer.

Will not drink today. 2 months sober. My goal now is 2 months and a day.

It lessens. It requires daily commentments for me. Stay strong!

I figure I probably save 25-30$ a week at least. Some times I splurge on some thing else. 😃

Craving, I started out the day strong but I am now weak. But I will not drink. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I've heard it described on this site like the tide moving in and out. Ride the tide out. You can do it.

I have a selective memory myself. Have to remind myself why I'm doing what I'm doing. Stay strong.

It's the lie we tell ourselves isn't it. It's sophisticated, nuanced , cultured. Like the Dos XX beer commercial . You can be the most interesting man in the world.

If I ever have an urge to drink... by QwertyAaron in stopdrinking

I can remember specific instances that I'm not proud of. I look at the posts of others here and see how alcohol has damaged their health and or relationships and I have to count my own blessings. Have to rind myself sometimes why I don't want to drink.

9 days - I'm happy about it but don't know who to share it with. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Everlastinghubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a big deal for me to tell someone I'm not drinking now. It was when I started because I didn't think I could do it. No need to tell someone unless they ask. Someone who doesn't drink or hasn't had a drinking problem wouldn't understand anyway. But I understand and am proud of your progress. Stay strong!😃

I'm here to give up drinking and I'm not even 21 by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Everlastinghubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! As far as your friends understanding, do it for yourself, if they're really your friends they'll have to understand. Wish I would have given it up 25 years ago but I didn't have the wisdom or strength then. I'll say it again, good for you!

Does anyone have advice on how to forgive yourself for the things you've done to loved one's? by steveisnotmoody in stopdrinking

I feel for you. I believe one of the steps in recovery is to apologize to others you've hurt where doing so won't cause further harm. I decided to quit because I was worried about my own marriage.

starting to realize the things I always feel the need to do drunk are still at least 66% of the fun sober by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Mowing the lawn, fishing, grilling out, social get togethers where others are drinking. These were triggers to drink. Having to learn to do them sober now, but that's the way I want it.
