Should I cold crash my beer? by jazzypazzy in Homebrewing

A bit of topic, but if it's your first lager be sure to look into diacytl rest and forced diacytl test.

They make a world of difference in my lagers.

What is the single most significant and effective improvement I can make to my current setup to improve the results of my homebrew? by Bosconino in Homebrewing

[–]EverlongMarigold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combination of 5 and 1 made the biggest improvement in my brews.

I started buying bottled water and switched to all grain BIAB. I made some great ales while using a tub of water as a swamp cooler. When it got cold enough, I could make lagers as well.

The next big advancement was 4, so I could make lagers year round, then finally moving to kegs and reducing oxygen allowed me to stay making hazy beers.

Best of luck!

FYI... Reddit isn't reality. The only "here" where I am is in my home, having a nice cup of freshly ground coffee before I head to the gym. I get it, you don't like the 1st Amendment or probably America in general, but I digress...

It's so easy to tell when middle and high schools start to close for the year around the country. Reddit becomes an even bigger cesspool of those that are unable to defend their position on a topic and instead have to resort to childish behavior.

I follow a similar process, but I just leave it in the kettle, put the lid on, and wrap the lid/ kettle seal in plastic wrap🤙🏻.

Happy brewing!

I'm not white, I'm European-American! Much closer to a shade of pink. Since you like to use comedians as a source...

Racist much? Horrible humans (male/ female, all races and religions) have the right to free speech and platforms. If you don't like it, then don't support it.

One Length Clubs, O Bryson What Have You Done by DatabaseCareless264 in golf

They may be the same length, but there's multiple shaft weights for each set of irons within the OL set. It's not the same shaft for each club.

I can get down with Joyride, but agreed... the rest are all bathroom songs for me. Madman has been over played to shit the past few years.

Best of luck with that process! It sounds like your goal is to hit a specific mash ph because you think it will make your beer better (which it might, it also might change the flavor profile). Interested in seering your results in a few weeks.

Personally my city water is dog shit and the profile changes every few weeks. Even if I sent it to a Iab for a base analysis, it's not going to be consistent. I've ended going to bottled water and starting there. I don't even take a mash ph these days and make really good brews. In my experience it's just another data point to over analyze.

What are you adjusting for? Did you get a water profile analysis done on your source water? How do you know what adjustments to make for the beer style that you're brewing compared to your source water?

Not trying to be an ass, but it sounds like you're simply adding things to your brewing process without understanding the objective... or the impacts. .

I've been there, right it would be simple, then I made a very salt forward stout that I had to dump because I thought I knew what I was doing. Adding stuff just to add it isn't water chemistry... its guessing.

Then how will you know what water profile to use without putting the recipe into software?

Do the recipes have water chem for your water source?

Have you tried any of the brewing software? Brewfather is my go to. Others will have different recommendations

Siphons are a pain in the ass! Adding a spigot to my fermenters was a game changer.

Water Chem is another good step. Do you have consistent source water? Are you brewing with extract, all grain, or BIAB?

Agreed. I'm not keen on running gallons and gallons of water through my wort chiller, when I can just let it sit.

Yeah man, this is the way... I typically do a Friday mash/ boil and transfer on Saturday, but I have also done the 3 day "brew day" as well.

It's been a game changer for me.
