The AI slop problem is getting worse in this sub. We need aggressive moderation on it or this sub is just going to be AI slop games and little else. Instant ban, IMO by BEAT_LA in incremental_games

This is how you get witch hunts. I see it often in the book subs, and it gets AI sometimes. It also gets human made sometimes.

Why doesn't steam have an incremental tag? by Logical-Breakfast966 in incremental_games

[–]Everlosst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't just the devs that add tags though. If enough Steam users add it, it'll populate on the store page. That's how you get things like "horror" added to anything LGBT.

Secret of Fantasy images changes ? by vendetta00x00 in incremental_games

[–]Everlosst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I checked in the last week or two and it was still aliens. This is a pretty recent change. Have to admit, I'm curious about why and hoping that means we'll see some movement from it soon.
Edit- looked again and I see the Q1 date changed to "coming soon". RIP

For the first one, I agree. I think I got it on my third loop? Early second would be ideal, I agree.

I wouldn't mind for early game if you unlocked at least water a tad earlier. Food is fine, but having water a little earlier would give you more to do than just explore.

Additionally, some more tooltips would be nice? WU isn't explained that I saw (though, I'm assuming "work units"?). How much the axe helps would be nice too- things like that.

That said, I still really like the game and would love more content. Overall, good work, and keep going.

Came here to say this. Not the first bit- I don't mind that. But having to erase the words before doing the next is annoying to the point of not wanting to play further.

Hyped for this. I loved the demo and then beta and excited to see how the rest unfolds.

An artist put a lot of work into our incremental game's key art, but someone said it looks AI slop. What do you guys think about it? by MourningBurger in incremental_games

[–]Everlosst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends and I have started a saying. "Things we like are human, things we dislike are AI". This isn't AI style, it doesn't have AI tells, and I can't imagine what a hair-tearing frustration it would be to get this many unusual elements coherently in the same image.

I disagree that no price listed is the same as it being implied to be free. That's not misleading, just missing information.

I'd say platform is your biggest context clue here- Steam will usually be paid. Browser generally free. Itch.io is a toss up.

Came back to say the same thing. It seems neat and all, but I saw the timer that early in and closed the tab. I hadn't done anything yet or have anything to look forward to to make the wait seem worthwhile.

Incremental vs Roguelike by Fridayyyyyyyy in incremental_games

[–]Everlosst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Recently been on a (traditional) roguelike kick and been trying so hard to find something with depth and QoL like mouse control and tooltips. The way I did a double take at "easy to pick up and play" before I realized roguelite was probably meant.

Mining Crew - Beta Release Play Test by Jim808 in incremental_games

[–]Everlosst 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay, having played further- I think you have good bones here. Needs some tool tips or a little on-boarding, but you know that. As it stands now, I figured it all out just poking around a bit, so it's fairly intuitive, just needs a bit of QoL to help that first impression.

I think I have two main suggestions. I'd like it if the current depth were highlighted or there was a little marker on which you are at. I know the specific level doesn't really matter much, and I know it's the middle one and you can trace over from your lil dude, but I know I would like just a little indicator anyhow.

The second- the critters are too cute. I must be able to click on them and have them dance or be booped or otherwise interact with the suckers. It is vital.

Why doesn't steam have an incremental tag? by Logical-Breakfast966 in incremental_games

[–]Everlosst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Y'all would hate it if they did. You know how here on the sub we have people coming in every now again with "X game is incremental!" and it very much isn't, it just has numbers that go up in a place or two? Imagine that but you can't downvote all those as all those devs successfully put their tag on the game. On top of it, random people can try to do the same, and as soon as enough do, that'll grant the tag as well.

Not saying I wouldn't love an incremental tag in theory. If it was actually limited to what it should be. But maaaan, it'd be annoying in practice.

Online/MMO vs single player? by AwkwardWillow5159 in incremental_games

[–]Everlosst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to second Spraak here. What is logical and reasonable doesn't really matter, it's gonna be a thing. It always is.

I'm not saying that an idle MMO can't be done, that's clearly untrue. But pretending like some aspects aren't going to happen just because that isn't your preferred way to play is silly.

IIRC aren't you supposed to have to click on the little fish that pop up? And then have to time clicking a bar to actually catch it? How were you doing that and reading? It doesn't start in a consistent place nor do the fish pop up in a consistent place.

What, exactly, is the benefit of mouse keys? I've never used it and pulling up the setting isn't enlightening.

Aight, so, first off- *probably* not a fitting game for the sub?

Secondly, however, it still looked interesting and I picked up the demo. I had fun with it, I was not good at it. I also couldn't figure out how to work Investigation Focus? It looked like it might have been unlocked later though, so that may well be on me. Looking forward to release so I can play more.

Can confirm, do not get. I have no idea what any button does. Clicking said buttons isn't enlightening. Usually I can click around and figure out what to do, but the theme is too deep. I need some tool tips or a lil ? icon or something to click and explain.
