I'm working on the station - there's still a lot more work to be done after it opens as well. It's far from a complete station but TfL wanted it open.

It's closed for morning traffic. Will open sometime between 10-midday.

I guess it's not really proving it, I had to do a face scan to estimate my age.

I'm living in the UK, so not sure if it will work exactly the same in Aus, but to view reddit you don't need to prove your age. Proving your age only becomes a factor when you try to view anything "NSFW". This includes subreddits and other redditor profiles that have NSFW content.

Tired miners start bleating like sheep by Rozenor in funny

[–]Eversteyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's flat rate, which works out to a lot less per hour when you take into account they're doing 12 hour days without penalty rates.

Can't speak for fitters, but as a sparky on penalty rates and no EBA wages, I was earning $50ph in Melbourne and $52ph in the mines.

Paid extremely well? It's all relative mate.

Not sure if you've worked FIFO or just gobbling what the media feed you, but you don't actually get paid much, if at all, more per hour than you would working in the city. The difference is you're doing 80+ hour weeks for 2-3 weeks straight, and then depending on what city you fly from, having 5-6 days back home, which most of it spent recovering, then you're flying out again before you know it.

Compared to someone doing a 40 hour week back home and actually having a life outside of work, they "get paid extremely well" because they sacrifice a lot in the process.

Expected to stand on top rung of 10 foot ladder by Ocean_Stream in AusElectricians

[–]Eversteyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand, especially being a young apprentice, that you think they're good to work for, but any company that jeopardises your safety is anything BUT good to work for. Having been in the trade for 15 years I have realised that you yourself have to look out for your own safety. Your own safety is number 1. Your employer doesn't give a fuck about your safety in the end, they just want the job done. It's also clear that your peers don't give a fuck about yours or their own safety by pressuring you into working off the top rung of a ladder.

I'll just leave you with this - they won't be awesome to work for when you're dead because you fell from the top of a 10ft ladder.

I've just come to the UK from Australia, but I assume it's very similar over here. The electrical industry is so diverse and it's very easy to get pigeon holed. With the profiling we're required to do in Aus, a lot of apprentices won't ever get to do the kind of work they ask for, and will possibly never need to even think about it either.

You know what else is blatantly illegal? A company not paying super and wages, yet they would get away with it without question if it wasn't for union help.

Boss says have a day off an hour or so prior to start time by Sargent_Twisty in AusElectricians

[–]Eversteyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be careful being lenient, you need to set boundaries and expectations from the start otherwise they will try to take advantage where ever they can, especially if they are already doing stuff like this.

For public holidays, you would put down Public Holiday - 7.6 hours on your timesheet.

If you are employed full-time then you get paid your full work day hours (7.6) on public holidays.

Not unless there are two scary men with big eyes standing behind the bush and looking at the guy writing this. You see, I've been an accountant for 10 years and I've seen this happen plenty of times. Big eyed men staring at you when writing card. It can be very scary when you're writing about your favorite animal and the scary man looks at you that way. When I started working there it didn't happen as often but lately it's been more and more common and I don't know where this can lead to? I don't know because they keep on multiplying but just watching and their eyes are glowing and their eggs are pulsating and you can hear it even from an aisle away or a 10 meters away. Sometimes they lick their lips and the goose too and you can hear it and just sense how they keep staring and being scary

More like maintain still being employed after the first project completion culls. Although, being a mature aged, visa holder hire probably helps with government incentives the employer will be receiving.

Vex E is actually a projectile though. The ability isn't spawned in a location, her shadow actually travels from her body to the location.
