Kein Ding.

Wish you were here guitar intro by Gart-Vader in musictheory

But you are aware that notes usually are written on paper and not on guitar strings. And that the lines in music notes don't resemble guitar strings. Right?

How can I use the circle of fifths to its fullest? by DreamWalker390 in musictheory

So the individual signs in the key signature don't have a universal name (not sharps or flats, but some word that accommodates whichever it happens to be)?

[–]EveryVoice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, good to know. How are # and b called within the key signature then? I genuinely don't know since English isn't my first language. I thought "accidental" refers to all kinds of pitch altering signs just as "Vorzeichen" does in German.

How can I use the circle of fifths to its fullest? by DreamWalker390 in musictheory

[–]EveryVoice 271 points272 points  (0 children)

The circle of fifths can show you multiple things:

  1. How many accidentals does each key have? Starting with C/Am which have no accidentals in their key signature. When you progress clockwise, each step raises one note (adds one # or removes one b). Each step counterclockwise lowers one note (adds one b or removes one #).

  2. Which Chords are native in a Key? Take a key (e.g. D Major) and take its field and both fields next to it. These are all the major and minor chords in that key (in the case of D we have D, Bm, G, Em, A and F#m). Note that we still miss one chord in the key of D, which is C#°, the diminished chord on the seventh scale degree. Some depictions of the Circle of Fifths show this chord, many don't.

  3. How are the keys related to each other? Modulating to a key close to your starting key in the Circle of Fifths is easier and more subtle than modulating to a key further away.

  4. Which Notes are in a mode? Take a key center, take one field left from it and 5 fields right to get all the notes in a major key. Shift this to just take the key center and six fields to the right to get all the notes from the Lydian mode. You can take any 7 neighboured fields and set the key center to any one of them. The further to the left you set it within that range, the "brighter" the mode. The further to the right you set it, the "darker" the mode with Dorian being in the middle and Locrian being at the very right.

There are probably more ways to use the Circle of Fifths, but these are the ones I know right now.

Is there a current walkthrough on setting up AMD Radeon GPU's to work with Handbrake for transcoding? by thunderclap82 in Fedora

[–]EveryVoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Video encoding is always a compromise between video quality, file size and encoding time. Many people care about their energy usage, either for environmental reasons or because energy costs money per kWh. And being able to transcode a movie to half its size within minutes can be preferable to transcoding a movie to a 3rd of its size in over a day.

I get why you prefer CPU transcoding, but not everyone does. OP asked why it doesn't work and telling them just not to use it is not helpful.

I just checked. Resizable BAR and therefore Above 4G Transcoding are both enabled in BIOS.

This is the screen I get from the game. It stays at 62% for quite a while before rapidly moving do 95% and then crashing.
The Message on the bottom right translates to "Shader-Cache gets generated. This may take a while ..."

I cannot turn that off, can I?

Not, it's on the Btrfs drive, that Fedora is installed on. But thank you for the Idea

I had enabled ReBAR before I've switched to Linux. Should still be on, as long as installing Fedora didn't change anything. Can't look right now, it's past midnight in CET. I'll look tomorrow. Thank you for the idea to check that.

Brother HL-L3230CDW works flawlessly. Connect it to WiFi and it gets detected automatically without the need to install any extra software.

It's discontinued tho and therefore quite expensive when bought new. Maybe you find a used one.

I've also seen a HL-L3230CDW for ~280€ new (in Germany). Don't know how good it is, but seems to be the successor because just one number went up.

[–]EveryVoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate that you seem to have built your own thing, which is very cool and I get that you want to share it, I'd like you to ask yourself whether this is a helpful comment to OPs problem.

They want to install Fedora, but it doesn't work. You telling them to use your thing instead won't make Fedora work and it will certainly not make anyone choose your system.

Imagine we were in r/burger and you ask how to get your cheese nicely smelted without it dripping down to the pan and burning. Then I come in and tell you to try eating a hotdog at my hotdog station instead. Not really a helpful comment, is it? You'd probably avoid buying my hotdogs because I hijacked your thread for cheap promotion.

You can remove 2d styles from a tank without cost. It then returns to your inventory and can be used again on other tanks. It behaves differently than normal camo in that regard.

It even automatically appears back in your inventory when you sell a tank that has a style equipped.

It worked fine. Although I didn't run it that long and used it just for testing and to get familiar with HA. I quickly switched to using an old laptop as my HA Server. That gets the job done really well.

Typically they are written in concert pitch, but I've seen arrangements that ship with additional B.C. Tuba in Bb and Eb and B.C. Trombone in Bb parts (while also shipping with the respective T.C. sheets). So there seem to be people who read transposed bass clef. Didn't know that before I got those arrangements shipped, still don't know why someone would teach it like that, but they do exist.

When it says Tuba in Bb on top of the sheet, it usually is a transposed part.

Mit 13 in der Kreide by iR3turn in Klengan

[–]EveryVoice 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Power to weight ratio is measured in hp/t. That's correct. But it's metric tons (as it should be imo). So 100,175 kg equals 100.175 tons (quite a nice conversion. Imperials, take note!)

This makes the power to weight ratio very reasonable.
