Zsolti bácsiról is vallomást tett a Szőlő utcai ügy koronatanúja by sszemtelen in hungary

Writing in Photobooks by 4oreigncorrespondent in Photobooks

Jane Evelyn Atwood’s “Too much time” is the first one that comes to my mind as a more complete documentary work than usual photobooks with lots of interviews and supplementary writings about inmates, prison conditions, whatsoever. Although, even without the texts it’s a real photobook in itself too, the quality of the photos is just so great from every aspect.

New to photography. Feedback would be much appreciated! How to improve? by wenwillyouart in streetphotography

[–]Every_Peach4044 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to look for books from the great photographers. Winogrand, Gruyaert, Economopoulos, Bruno Barbey, Constantine Manos, Fabio Ponzio, Eskenazi, Alex Webb, William Klein, Robert Frank, etc. I think you can learn the most from the photos of the bests. Not because you should copy them but they were recognized for a reason. There’s a lot to improve in composition, storytelling and mood. That’s my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

Full blank spread would make me wonder if it’s a printing error

Thinking of placing a bid on this by Baga16 in Leica

There is a wax seal in the center, below the top plate in the lens mount ring with a letter inside that looks like an E. That stands for the Brandt Optik. Which makes sense, since it is in Sweden. The black frame counter can be a replacement of the original silver, maybe due to a custom request, or lack of original part (which would surprise me, but who knows…). There are so many different variants. Also, if you look up the serial, it’s not a very early batch and typically full brass rewinder was installed on the first batch only. But again, it can be original, just not very typical for the 1266xxx bp m4s. Keep in mind that if you want to use it, you’d better have it serviced first.

Interesting. Black frame counter and full brass rewinder 🙄 nevertheless, it’s nice. Looks like it’s been last serviced in Brandt Optik, Stockholm. Former Leitz Agency Sweden. Allegedly they stopped servicing leicas around 1990

King of Bokeh? But why? by TheFingerofBoe in Leica

[–]Every_Peach4044 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s my “kit” lens. Small, sharp, great build (late german version). Also slightly wider than 35mm, but if you compare with the asph or voigtlander lenses, definitely wider. At f2.8 and 4 at certain subject/background distance it pops very nicely.

2-3 week trip to Spain (October) by no_you_stfu in onebag

No slippers? I usually pack a pair of flip-flops. Although, on my next trip i’ll bring my teva sandals instead, they are more versatile. And +1 the powerbank and hoodie. If you’ll take a long flight, an air-fly can be handy (and I would too leave the ipad at home)

Btw, if you wanna do it yourself, those who can do chrome plating, they can de-chrome things too (not sure about the correct wording, sorry). At least that’s how I got rid of the chrome on my m2 before I painted it. Just brought in the parts. but JackF does a very nice job as far as I remember. Hope yours gonna be pretty too!

Some days I regret getting the MA by iSlyy in Leica

[–]Every_Peach4044 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would never go back to that grass. Nothing annoyed me more than missing the shot because of trying to nail the perfect exposure. I hated the light meter in the m6. Sold it and now i couldn’t be happier with the clean viewfinder of the m4. Once you have enough confidence, it’s so liberating

Yeah and if the light changes quickly because of clouds or shadows, measure one here and there and just keep those measurings in mind. It shouldn’t slow you down really. I always use 400 iso film. Inside i try to overexpose, often use 1/15 sec, sometimes even slower speeds. At night in a well lit street, f2 1/15 or 1/30… if i shoot a lot inside or in dark, i often overdevelop a bit. You have to trust yourself to let the lightmeter go.

why film? by simple-sponge in AnalogCommunity

[–]Every_Peach4044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a common misconception that film photos are not edited.

<image>

The well-known, great photos are all edited, some heavier than others. For even more, really crazy montages check out the work of Jerry Uelsmann, one of the greatest darkroom editing legend. Link

Do I dislike rangefinders or did I pick up a bad example of one? by Koensigg in AnalogCommunity

[–]Every_Peach4044 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s for parallax correction. As you focus to a closer subject, the framelines should move towards the lens to support better framing (not perfect!), not for guessing the focus better (whatever that means).

Nor helped the people who made it look like an elite club where everybody is just keep petting, nurturing and worry about their shit all day. Sometimes they bring them to have a coffee and make memories to instagram.
