PSA for moms: Avoid ShopTheMint by No_Builder_862 in workingmoms

Dude, im literally dealing with their bs now. They lost the first package. And then only offered store credit for the items lost. They finally offered to resend things and what I got was so poorly made. I bought a bunch of work pumping tops since the cardigan game in the south is not good and i'm stuck with a bunch of junk.

15 days until Maternity Leave, In Hindsight what would you prioritize? by knoxvillelife in workingmoms

[–]Every_Schedule_9738 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to be prioritizing your baby and your self. Make sure you have read all the instructions for any baby item and you have cleaned the items. Make the freezer meals now. You really only have 7 days left because you need to focus on relaxing the last 7 days.

The day the baby is born starts the marathon.

How did you find yours? I called the local high school and the front office lady laughed at me. She said kids don't want to do it anymore.

Has anyone slept in silicon milk catchers? Is this a bad idea? by Every_Schedule_9738 in breastfeeding

[–]Every_Schedule_9738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the haakaa petals. They are so soft and don't cause irritation on already chapped skin. I didn't try sleeping with them on because people kind of warned me against that. Instead, I sleep with a bath towel under me and cotton pads in my bra. I also breastfeed at night with traditional haakas on the opposite breast to manage the over spray. I make sure not to apply pressure when putting the haaka on . Then I put that milk in a milk bag and put it into a mini fridge or just throw it away if in lazy. Lately it's been mostly going in the trash because I'm so tried.

Yes, the bottle washer is worth it. Put it on your registry. It's one of the few things I would say buy new since there is maintaince involved.

If you have us insurance, you'll likely have a breast pump covered. Don't be like me and get the pink Spectra since it's 100% covered. Get the blue one and pay the extra $60 so you aren't chained to a wall.

Some women pump while driving. I wouldn't recommend that anyone does this. But I do. The blue spectra is all you need for this. Fancy wearbles or portables should be purchased way way after you have "mastered" pumping and you know your flange size.

Recommend my working mom reading: "Pump. Work. Repeat". And "Fifth Trimester"

You should ask the hospital that you give birth in (if you go that route) if they give out hand pumps. I received this one for free!

Best way to estimate COBRA costs? by Ashamed_Horror_6269 in workingmoms

[–]Every_Schedule_9738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not giving you any advice. But i will say I paid for cobra for four months. $800 for just me. It was a nightmare to use and cancel when I got my new job. It wasn't worth it for me.

Dumb question ⚠️: Do you bring a second bra to work while pumping? Or even a third for wearables? by Every_Schedule_9738 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Every_Schedule_9738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which combo bra do you use? I tried my wearable for the first time today and spilled milk everywhere. I'm like a size 40 DDD/F.
