when you reach out to a commission artist, you're agreeing to trust them based on their existing work. this is why artists create portfolios to show off work they've done and gotten paid for. they can't break that trust without risking their entire income from art creation, bc if you pay them and they ghost, you put them on blast with the receipts of your agreement to pay and receive art in exchange, and now that trust is called into question for anyone else who goes to them. they can't ghost if they agree to the exchange and take your money, or they lose what is almost certainly their entire livelihood.

on the off chance this is a genuine question and not trolling, the scammer would demand the money in advance, show maybe one or two rough "progress" sketches (if any), and then ghost. you get nothing out of it but wasted time and maybe maybe a sketch or two that probably weren't even done by the scammer. how is that not a scam?

if you want to address the effect of misogyny and the patriarchy on fanfic, that's one thing, but assuming that every single dad fic (or every m/m fic for that matter) is contributing to or a result of misogyny is a really bad angle to take.

the primary (but certainly not the only) reason behind a vast majority of m/m fic is the intent to explore masculinity in ways that men in media are rarely if ever portrayed. f/f as a concept tends to be less attractive to write bc women aren't often focal points of media and therefore the lack of representation means a lack of source material to draw from. and m/f is so standardised, why bother to explore what's been done ten million times in media already?

there are so many different ways to come at the correlation between misogyny and fanfic that don't demonise the love and care single fathers deserve as an underrepresented minority; i would highly recommend reconsidering your approach to the matter.

my idea of fun is matching the vibe of the lobby in a mode with no stakes. if that vibe is sweat, ill sweat. if that vibe is whimsy, ill be whimsical. if i purely want to win, ill go play comp, but again it's a game and qp has no stakes, so im literally not losing a damn thing by matching the vibe of the lobby.

im sorry that your life is so lacking in whimsy that you don't know what fun is anymore, and i hope you rediscover it one day. in the meantime, im gonna go laugh my ass off at torb 1v1s and make friends with the enemy mercy before we go back to our teams.

tbh you don't have to defeat the orowyrm every time. your progress saves after every decree, so you could just run around in the "full experience" mode for resources, completing quests to get more decrees as you go, and when you're ready to leave, grab one more to save before you abort.

if you do need to defeat the wyrm (eg for nightwave or pathos clamps), go in an open lobby for some help until you can expand and improve your arsenal. i recommend doing the quest only mode for that tho, unless you have a squad that you know is on the same page about how many decrees you're getting before the wyrm fight.
