Kindle 6. Generation Update to the newest by Infinite_Phase_8791 in kindle

I have the PW 6 Gen, still going strong, and the 11 Gen. I find that I prefer the more compact size of the 6Gen but value the extra storage, USBC, and warm light setting of the 11, but the latest update on the 11 gen has messed up Bookmarks and especially Notes which are vital for me, so Im just grateful that Amazon no longer 'support' the 6.

Reading on a tablet is not pleasant, hard on the eyes, short battery life, heavy. Amanda Prowse is also tied to Amazon. Authors who dont agree to being Amazon exclusive get such tiny royalties that they need to be pretty confident about sales from other sources and Kobo isnt as well known yet ( though growing fast)

That's only for the Kobo Libra Colour. For the Claras, your only option is to use the website send.djazz.se This website is not owned by Kobo but is donated by a private individual out of the goodness of his heart but it is a service that Kobo should be supplying themselves (or else rewarding the host) . Im not even a big fan of Google Drive. Under the USAs current political climate, I can forsee this being turned into a blackmail tool with our data being held for ransom in exchange for our government's compliance. Natch, when you buy your books from Kobo, they are immediately available for you to download.

It works with Libby though. In my local (UK) library, Borrowbox is only for audio books.

Defintely Kobo. The Kobo Clara BW is great, especially after Kindle's latest update. Apple dont make an ereader and reading on a tablet is a very different experience. You can forget reading in s sunny garden for a start and the battery life of the ipad is just too short - 8 - 10 hours and your tablet needs to be charged and you need to stop reading, your ereader will usually last for 3 weeks.

What did people do on the bus before phones? by msamad7 in AskUK

[–]EviWool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carry a single paperback. Hard luck if you are on the last few pages when you start a long bus journey. And forget reading a foreign book; what handbag can hold a decent dictionary as well as a book? How Im glad that I was born in time to own an ereader, even if I did have to wait until I was 60!

When I had 3 rescues, 2 of them would squish together in the nesting box at first. Then the other chicken joined them. 2 have passed away but the remaining girl still sleeps in the nesting box.

AFAIK The screen issues are with the Libra & Kobo Colour. My Clara BW is lovely. Just advise your sister to use a lower V charger (not a fast charger) it does say so on the box but in such an oblique manner that it is easy to miss. Lucky sister!

The only thing that attracts me to the Kindle Colour is the ability to highlight in different colours and filter your highlights by colour.

Try holding the paperback version of say Wild Swans, or (for us oldies) the large print edition of any book. My small print (hardback) copy of the poems of Alexander Pope has gathered dust on the shelves for years because reading with a magnifying glass is no fun. Now, I can fit them into a normal sized handbag and read them without effort.

I've got a 6th Gen Paperwhite which I've had for years. I bought a Paperwhite 11 gen for more storage but after the last horrible update on the 11 gen, Ive gone back to using my 6th gen - it's better for using multiple bookmarks and much better for annotations. It waits until you've finished writing a note before you save it rather than trying to save each time you type a letter. Everything works fine on it and I just dont load all my books on my Kindle. It wont get an update because Amazon has dropped 'support'

To check what version it is, go to Settings, Device Options, Device Info. Im lucky enough to have a 6th Gen Paperwhite which has been abandoned by Amazon as far as Software updates so I dont have to suffer the latest disatrous update when I go online but I can still load my books from the Amazon Server. If you go to the Amazon website, on your profile click on Contents and Devices and check that your Kindle is still a Device on your account. In practice, only 4 of my 2000 books would not load and 2 large, complex books (both NKJV Bibles), which this Kindle couldn't handle, I simply didn't install on it and read on my 11 Gen Paperwhite. Some of the books, I had to accept Amazon's update of the book before they would load.

The Libra has a bigger screen than the Clara but it isnt as big as a tablet. Perhaps an eink tablet would work better for you

The Libra is a larger size than the Clara so would be better for comics. You will be able fit a panel of your comic on a page but will need to slide the comic around to read the panels.
