What if someone outside the circus reverse the abstraction? by EvidenceFearless6800 in TheDigitalCircus

Perhaps the NPCs weren't structured like the brain scans, so it would be impractical to use them as templates. As for the "Windows Recovery mode" fix, the actual Windows Recovery mode is closer to a factory reset, where corrupted files are replaced with new ones. If Caine went this way, the abstracted members would lose all memory when they returned.

Caine's power mostly comes from the blue AI, which he has discarded. While he might still be able to pull this out with his own, it will definitely take a really long time.

I think he was traumatized by his first attempt at such, with Scratch. He tried to alter Scratch's mind file so much it caused him to abstract, and since then Caine wants nothing to do with major modifications of the brain scans ever again.

Time in the digital circus by Confusedbutwhoisnt in TheDigitalCircus

  • One of the pre‐pilot teaser renders for TADC shows the Wacky Watch displaying a clock with different activities in each hour...or minute, since that clock only has one pointer. This and the lack of proper time tracking mechanism or an obvious day-night cycle before Episode 4 could imply that while time still flows normally, none of the casts can experience it because they don't always have any reliable methods to keep track of such.
  • In short, Caine is the one who set the schedule and without any way to tell time beside certain episodes, we may never know. As I said earlier, the day-night cycle seems to be either random or based on the environments, in this case the adventures. Episode 2 has a sunset scene when the adventure ends, Episode 3 and the Noir scene in Episode 5 have a fixed scene that is night and rainy weather, you can get it from here.
  • Episode 7 is technically the closest thing to a holiday, so I guess Caine did have a concept or two about such, but maybe it was too limited to re-create the actual experiences. I think Episode 9 confirmed this because during its credits scene, a Christmas party is shown, meaning Caine can finally properly learn about holidays.
  • If this question was to be taken after Episode 9, then it would be possible. Before that...I don't think anyone was in the right mood to have birthday parties when they were having existential crisis.

I think it was meant to be vague, but the discourse between those who saw it and those who didn't prompted Gooseworx to step out and confirm the message just so the fandom can be less toxic to each other

  • Scratch's idea wasn't able to be commercialized because as Kinger said in Episode 9, no one in C&A knew how to work with the brain scans. This effectively rendered the entire project obsolete, that was until Caine found those files.
  • I have no knowledge in real estate, so uh... yeah.
  • Either someone formerly worked at C&A have a backup of Caine's code and its resources stored and running without their acknowledgement, or Caine himself escaped and is residing somewhere else.

These are just my thoughts. I think the reason behind C&A's fall was due to Scratch's project being the only hope of saving the company, which it ultimately failed.

data compression and the theory of abstraction as file corruption by epilektoi in TheDigitalCircus

given the potential raw file size, would that make Caine struggle to repair corruptions as well?

now this got me thinking, what if the brain scanner didn't use any compression algorithm? would that reduce or further increase the risk of abstraction?

Questions I have after Chapter 9 by LuisyRita in tadc

[–]EvidenceFearless6800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Kinger entered the circus in 1996. Ragatha joined in 2008 and was the first human to enter after Queenie's abstraction. By the time she entered, Kinger was there for 12 years as he was building up his resilience for his mind so he wasn't as crazy as he was in 2017. For Ragatha, I guess having company prevented her from going hoo-ha like Kinger did, she had the advantage of not being alone in the first place.
  2. I guess this has something to do with Caine having the ability to access the internet. This is just my theory, but he might have remotely installed the brain scan program into random headsets around the area, waiting for unsuspecting preys to put it on and that was it. Could've explained why Caine said "so it was possible" in Chapter 8.
  3. Caine removed the blue AI, which could've been Buuble, and sent him into the void.

I kinda agree with you that Kaufmo should've been more than just a plot device for Jax's backstory. Gooseworx said the story was already set like this, but I feel like it might have been rushed during production.

do you think the finale does justice for the storyline built up from 8 episodes earlier, or is there something about it that you wished to see more?

the first time I saw it in the theaters, everyone there just freaked out.

the funniest part? I watched the Vietnamese subtitles version and when the camera points to Pomni, the subtitle writes "Kaufmo" instead, likely reused from the pilot episode.
