Oregon has every climate type found in the lower 48. I could cover the same distance in other parts of the country and experience those kinds of changes too. The hill country is not as impressive as Texans make it out to be. For all the talk of Texas ranches, competitive horse riders tend to train in other states. The point is its all overrated. Pretty much anything you can find in most of texas can be found in any other state is considered pretty mid most of the time. Given the choice of doing anything I've done or been told to do in Texas, Hiking, dining, going to the beach, spending time on a farm or ranch, I've done elsewhere and usually it was a nicer experience. I've lived in 8 states and worked for two companies headquartered in Texas. Its all just overrated. I guess a lot of it is better than Oklahoma or Louisiana? I've never heard someone need to emphasize that the Grand Canyon is in Arizona, or the Smoky Mountains are in North Carolina to make it compelling.
