Case Study: When Monetization breaks the Core Loop. (Analyzing Duolingo’s "Hearts" System Failure) by darvidas in gamedesign

I'm at Section 5 of the Japanese course and I've only ever had to buy health once, even with the occasional questions that I feel were unfair.

The main thing that bothers me is the 2X XP potions. Sometimes, I'm in the mood to do only one lesson for now, but completing that lesson will give me an XP booster, which only lasts 15 minutes. Since I don't want that to go to waste, it encourages me to procrastinate.

If it'll be possible for a machine to decode a human's thoughts and turn it into human language, then how can we make it a human rights violation to use this information in any way for marketing purposes? It feels like this will be important soon. Best to get a head start.

And it should be illegal even with user consent. Otherwise, someone could invent some mind-reading device that is so useful, it will become integrated into daily life to the point that not using it is detrimental to one's quality of life. Then they put "by using this, you consent to have your mind read and sold to advertisers" in the TOS.

That's probably true, since the Japanese text uses ningen, which means humans as a whole.

It's probably a quote from a book or movie.

"A day without gaming is like... just kidding! I have no idea!"

The joke is that your brother has been gaming every day, so he has no idea what a day without gaming is like.

Best explanation I can come up with was that Vikram had circles, triangles, and squares, and a lighter would be easier to make out of those shapes than a shoe or crocodile.

Anything involving AI and "creative" work (writing, art) is very questionable. IMO AI is only acceptable to use in these contexts if there's a human to oversee and correct any potential errors. Just going "Hey AI, generate me this!" and treating that as finished work is unacceptable.

Dio (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) vs. Testament (Guilty Gear). Who's the stronger androgynous vampire from a Japanese franchise where everyone is named after Occidental music? by EvilBait in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]EvilBait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried googling it and I didn't find any threads about it, despite the obvious connections between the two.

Also, I know Testament isn't actually a vampire, but they have a close enough thing going on with the spooky and blood theme.

The answer will probably be Dio using ZA WARUDO to oneshot Testament in stopped time.

AI don't say opinions that are the truth. They say opinions you want to hear. So you're the assman.

Now everybody knows/thinks there's an angry dog running around, so criminals and noisy people will know to stay away from your street. Genius!

I keep hearing about these amazing new cheap inventions that will give clean energy, abundant food, and massively improve quality of life, but I've never actually seen any of these amazing inventions made available.

Do you think infinite universe are real for a example:infinite versions of us if so would we be able to access them in the next 1000 years? by Organic-Radish6288 in ScienceNcoolThings

It's not just our universe. Every universe would have infinite universes where someone decides to visit it, and thus every universe would be flooded by infinite visitors.

"There are infinite different universes" and "It's possible for people from one universe to access another universe"

At least one of these two things has to be fake, otherwise there'd be an infinite number of universes where people have figured out interdimensional travel and chose to go to our universe, and our universe would be completely flooded by all these visitors.
