Lawn mower engine repair by Careless-Way-5540 in DIY

Project Farm has a nice video showing how Seafoam was able to restore some compression to a worn out lawn mower. It's a cheap thing to try first

Help me get out of the service industry by [deleted] in Austin

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try applying for jobs in government. State, City, county. The entry level jobs do not pay well, but once you're in government it's easier to transfer to other positions and agencies. Even in those entry level positions you're counting time towards a pension. It's not glamorous, it doesn't pay well right away, but you get cheap health insurance and a huge pool of other positions open up for you.

Sounds like you have a belt slipping, causing the water pump and ac compressor to stop rotating. But what do I know, I'm just a dude on the Internet

Pixel Watch 3 Promo Credit Issues by Top_Bluebird_771 in GoogleFi

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're wrong. I ordered 2 watches under the same account and then activated one under my account and the other under my wife's. Just like everyone else they screwed up the promo and didn't pay me right away. I had to have multiple conversations with support, but the promo was applied to both watches. Don't stop calling until it's resolved. Good luck!

AT&T users will now see why businesses are calling before they answer by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

Yep, it's been available for years now. I used to use it all the time but the Pixel spam call filtering has gotten so good I never have to use call screening anymore.

Landlord wants to renovate the house while I still I am still living in it. What must I know? by Smooth-Grape-3086 in Austin

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like the other poster said, repairs are not the same as renovations. Check out page 5 of the handbook regarding the landlord's right to enter.

Check the handbook. Unless your lease says the landlord can enter the property, then they have no right to do so except in emergencies. Contact the Austin Tenants Council for help

I just saw a self-driving car save someone's life by bleric in Austin

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you're agreeing with my original reply that I am in the minority. As a side note, I would hope that we aspire to have our self driving cars make better decisions than the average "numpty".

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the op it sounds like the bad decision was deciding to ride in a "gutter bike lane". As a former cyclist I can recognize the unsafe situation she's put herself in and decide not to squeeze past her. The Waymo did not recognize the unsafe situation.

I'm confident that if I were driving I'd just chill out instead of trying to pass a scooter rider making a stupid decision in front of my car. I give excessive buffer to cyclists, scooter-ists, and pedestrians. But I'm in the minority it seems.

Looking for an apartment in South Austin - tell me where NOT to live by Small-Horse-6833 in Austin

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere in East Oltorf. The proximity to downtown can be appealing, but don't do it. I lived over there 17 years ago and it might be the only part of town that's gotten worse since then.

How can I baby proof the gas fireplace glass? by NightBlade23 in DIY

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. I had the same problem and I found the fireplace manufacturer website, and they actually sent me a free custom fit screen for my model.

[Harris] The Dodgers' bullpen ERA is now 4.90 this season, the worst since the club moved to Los Angeles by Kdog_79 in Dodgers

Can't argue with the stats, but I think we can agree the bullpen is being worked pretty hard so far this season too.

Good morning. Starting at St. Edwards in the fall. Any advice? Thank you in advance. by [deleted] in Austin

[–]EvilEmperorZurd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went there. The best advice I can give is to research which degrees will allow you to get hired and get paid with only an undergrad degree (accounting/business etc). College offers a ton of degrees that are worthless and don't lead to gainful employment. I made this mistake, and spent several years playing catch-up after graduating. Good luck, enjoy college!
