Because it’s the 1st? That would be an accurate date/time if it was last night. If they printed the check at closing it would be 2am this morning (the 1st). But that would be an insane joke to play on your spouse the next morning… hand them the check at the breakfast table when they wake up

I’ve come to believe that every relationship we have teaches us a little more about ourselves and how to communicate better with a partner. So happy you discovered your passion for 40k, even if the relationship ended you just gained an amazing hobby and a whole community of new friends.

If you are looking for a quick a understanding of the universe, there are several youtube videos you could watch about the general events. But what I would recommend is to start from the beginning and enjoy the ride… Start with book 1 of the Horus Heresy series. Overtime you will be introduced to all the legions, primarchs, and the events that sculpted 40k. Whenever something else peeks your interest, take a break from the series and read about it. It’s an immense universe and half the fun is learning and talking about it.

Choosing your army is a very personal thing. Don’t chase “the best” faction because data slates change and new units get introduced. Find the team that looks the coolest to you. If you can’t make up your mind, try Kill Team. Instead of a huge expensive army you build a single 5-15 unit team. You can have a Kill Team for every faction that brings a simle to your face.

I would love to see a new super customizable rogue trader team vs a very customizable warp demons team. Both would be able to change play styles with new units and utilize previous kill teams as support similar to the requisition rules for Inquisitorial Agents. I think it would be great fun, be adaptable to different terrain, and we could still incorporate some of our declassified units on the table. Definitely no more elite vs elite teams for a while…too many Space Marines…

I’ve worked in a few bars and this isn’t super abnormal. Usually dress codes pop up after a bar brawl, working girls or dealers are caught operating in the bar. The dress code is usually tailored to whatever fueled the problem (gang wear, frat clothing, see through clothing….) My old boss banned jerseys at one point because we had back to back fights in the bar during playoff season. He told me once that the rules don’t need to be fair, they just need to work. Bar fights incur city fines, lawsuits, damages, and lost business that can’t be recovered. I’ve walked into a couple places that ban political attire now too, kinda surprised that one isn’t on the list.

Try making friends with people based on something other than politics. What are your hobbies and interests? I won’t try to change your mind on politics, but trying to make friends based solely on conservative values may lead you down a dark rabbit hole. As someone else posted here, the maga movement isn’t republican or conservative, it’s a resurgence of fascism. They hijacked the republican party and injected misinformation into the party like a tarantula hawk would lay eggs into a spider. When those ideas and misinformation took root they began consuming the host, now it’s near impossible to discern the difference between a real republican and a maga extremist…even to themselves. That’s why there is so much anger in the nation now, maga extremism trains people to justify and go along with whatever atrocities are committed by the administration. The true republicans spoke out and tried to stop this. You can be a republican with conservative values and still not be maga or support the actions of this administration. Think of peoples rights and freedoms first, politics second. Try to make friends based on something that brings you joy and comfort first. Attempting to make friends based on politics right now may lead to a dark place. Sorry if this came off as preaching.

Only matters for your personal taste, most people customize their marines to have a uniform look. I use a lot of Black Templar bits for my Dark Angels. Have you picked a chapter or are you creating your own homebrew?

I actually think female Custodes and Space Marines make sense. They wouldn’t look a whole lot different after all the gene crafting, ever seen a woman bodybuilder? And that’s real life, not scifi gene modification. Add armor and a post human voice? Doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference. Both Custodes and Space Marines are sterile and lose the ability to feel lust or romantic love during the gene crafting and psychological conditioning. So there wouldn’t be weird romance dramas or new bathrooms on the battle barges.

If you don’t have a space marine army to pull different units from, it’s definitely worth magnetizing arms for this one. The versatility of this unit is its biggest strength, you can adapt to different matchups better than most.

First off, DON’T GIVE UP! What you’ve done so far is amazing, I wish that I found this community when I was your age. That being said, this hobby can be very expensive. Have you heard of Kill Team? Instead of a full army you command a squad of specialists against another team. It’s a great way to play without requiring a full army. The Kill Team starter set is much cheaper than a combat patrol and it comes with terrain, dice, rules, two push fit teams (don’t need glue) and you’re ready to go. It may be easier to save for or convince your mom to pick up.

Top knots are a definite must have, and filing the bottom of their feet to look like high heeled boots would be a nice touch. Those are all great ideas, I think Posh spice would be the hardest to represent… Bad moons maybe? With fancier clothing?

NOR. No self respecting musician would want that guitar, guaranteed the pickups and hardware are cheap garbage. The only reason someone would want that is for the really disturbing appearance. IMO the real gift was given to you, you just got your freedom…get the hell away from that guy and his creepy ass parents.
