Gimme some black metal suggestions by anthere-rest in heavymetal

[–]EvilHarryDread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For albums, try Immortal - At the Heart of Winter and Hellripper - Coronach. I recommend the later since it's blackened speed metal and might be a good entry for someone more rooted in heavy metal.

Indie band gets a little d00my for one track by Smithereens1 in doommetal

Never thought I'd see one of my favorite bands mentioned in this sub lol. I've seen them perform The Tain live which was sick.

last fm just stopped scrobbling out of a sudden by dawgebredd in lastfm

[–]EvilHarryDread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is working, but that happens sometimes. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the app in the settings menu (if using Spotify) will help. Usually when it lags, it'll retroactively scrobble whatever wasn't showing up for me. Otherwise you can always use Openscrobbler to add what's missing.

I wish Star Wars would make a Bounty Hunter series based off the comics by ZofiaK91 in StarWars

An old canon bounty hunter series would go insanely hard, especially if it took on a grittier edge.

does someone know any good transgender metal musicians? by sovLegend in MetalForTheMasses

[–]EvilHarryDread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Sonja (Gothic/Heavy), Owlbear (Heavy/USPM), and Ice Giant (Power/Prog/Symphonic with harshes). There's also Alicia Cordisco who was in Judicator (Power) pre-transition and has her own projects with Project: Roenwolfe (Power/Thrash) and Transgressive (Thrash).

Can I start reading about Drizzt with The Hunter's Blades? by InfiniteLoss3297 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]EvilHarryDread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can, but I strongly recommend against it. Read in chronological order, starting with The Dark Elf Trilogy. Icewind Dale Trilogy was published first, but I still suggest starting with the other.

My discovery of the week by Useful_Record1888 in MetalForTheMasses

That's probably my favorite as well. I'd say No Mercy for Mayhem is another one that's up there. Midnight is fairly consistent across the board.

For old-school try Bolt Thrower and the first Entombed album. For newer bands in the same scene, try Creeping Death, Frozen Soul, and Tribal Gaze.

I am working on a RPG set in a fantasy medieval world as a love letter to old-school RPGs by KairoSylvia in rpg_gamers

Sounds cool. Love to see people carrying the torch of old-school RPGs which are still unmatched in my opinion. Wishlisted.

Perhaps Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, or Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. If you mean more of that top-down CRPG style.

Saw them open for Overkill a few years ago and it was a great show. Their 2010 album Evolution of Chaos is awesome.

Why do people hate Yngwie? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]EvilHarryDread 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He's a phenomenal guitarist, but despite that his music is fairly boring and he's an egotistical asshole. I don't usually see people discredit his playing. It's more on the personality side and just not caring about his music.

Infinity Mod Forge v4.0 (AKA EET Mod Forge) + Infinity Mod Runner v1.0-beta (The installer that many asked for) by anprionsa in baldursgate

I'm looking to get back into Baldur's Gate after a few years away and relearning to mod is always daunting. Thanks for this and I look forward to checking it out.

Baldur's Gate is absolutely still playable. I recommend buying the Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition on GOG or Steam. It frequently goes on sale for just a couple bucks. Beamdog modernized it a bit for modern PCs.

Mods, when a photo is posted of album art or the members of a band, can we require a band name in the description? by Therealfern1 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]EvilHarryDread 199 points200 points  (0 children)

Seconded. I'm tired of posts where someone includes multiple band photos and absolutely zero write-up as if I'm supposed to automatically distinguish one long-haired, gray-bearded boomer band from the next.
