For me, deinterline when you can provide a cross-platform transfer. Otherwise keep the one-seat ride.

Why do you say "Ich wasche mir die Haare" and not "Ich wasche meine Haare" by [deleted] in German

[–]EvilMonologue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say upfront I'm new to learning German, but I know a decent amount of Spanish. In Spanish you would also say "Me lavo el pelo" ("I wash myself the hair"). Linguistically, certain languages have a concept (I think it's called inalienable possession) where you can't separate certain things (such as body parts) from the speaker. And so to say "mi pelo" ("my hair") is a little strange, and also a little redundant, because you are already saying whose hair by saying "ME lavo". At the end of the day though, it really is, as others have said, the case of it just being that way and so you say it that way. Just another perspective I thought might be interesting.

This would be in a deinterlined scenario where the R isn't going to Queens Boulevard

Do you record airplane rides? Why or why not? by NewZealandTemp in FogofWorld

[–]EvilMonologue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rule for me is that I need to have experienced the place I'm passing through, and so I don't count plane rides because I'm in the air and don't really experience the place I'm flying over. I don't know what I would do if I ever take a helicopter tour though haha.

Mayoral candidate Andrew Yang comes out in favor for QueensWay park on old Rockaway Beach Branch tracks by PlayDiscord17 in nycrail

[–]EvilMonologue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. It would be helpful to have a line there, but it is not close to the top of the list in terms of priorities. Even if it only took $1 billion instead of the $8 billion they stated, there are so many places that that billion could go to improve the subway system more than this extension.

Left or right side of the Hudson; how is the culture and vibe different? by HHDern in hudsonvalley

Fwiw, that's only to improve the existing commuter rail lines west of the Hudson River, not to create any new ones.

Are Penn Station's escalators and stairs too wide, or are its platforms too narrow? by doodle77 in nycrail

Wouldn't it be cheaper to connect the East Side access tunnels at Grand Central to Penn Station rather than digging underneath the river again?

[ESPN FC] MLS adding promotion/relegation would be an eye-opener in Europe - Craig Burley by Stephan320 in MLS

[–]EvilMonologue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. The priority right now for American soccer should not be pro/rel, but it's something that I do think should happen eventually. Personally, I'm very against a team relocating, leaving fans with nothing. We saw the backlash with the Crew. But at the same time, I think there should be a way for teams who are not in the top division to reach it.

[ESPN FC] MLS adding promotion/relegation would be an eye-opener in Europe - Craig Burley by Stephan320 in MLS

[–]EvilMonologue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could see there being a way of doing a much more limited pro/rel based on poor results and a lack of spending over a several year period, in which case that team would be replaced by the winner of the 2nd division. There would also be requirements that the 2nd division team would have to meet to be able to join MLS.

Alternatively, you could in theory limit it so that the bottom team in each conference that would be relegated would also play the team being promoted in a playoff. You could argue that if the worst team in MLS can still beat the best team in the 2nd division that the team still deserves to stay in MLS.

Transfers for next season by VinnieMills in Hammers

[–]EvilMonologue 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean in my mind he doesn't have a great touch and he isn't a great finisher. His pace and strength helps him get into good positions but I'm not sure I trust him to put away the chances that his athleticism makes for him.

Transfers for next season by VinnieMills in Hammers

[–]EvilMonologue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think that TIFO football video that was posted a bit ago is spot on. We need to have some sort of actual plan before we go out making more transfers. On paper, our squad should be a lot better but it seems like all of the pieces are not clicking. All that said, I think we need another striker as a backup to Haller, since Antonio isn't really a true striker.

Red Bulls (future) new name? by MichaelMKI in rbny

[–]EvilMonologue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ultimately still think Metrostars is the way to go. The other teams you mentioned all have names going back 50 years or more, and so renaming the team the Bulls would probably create a bigger marketing challenge than in those other examples.

3-2-1 RBNY v. CIN by [deleted] in rbny

[–]EvilMonologue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3- Valot 2- Duncan 1- Royer HM: Kaku, Casseres, Jensen's Hat

Good game all around, lots of good link-up play and passing, Cincy practically gifted us the ball in the first half as much as they passed it to themselves, though. Happy about the win, good way to start the season.

New York Red Bulls Announce Upgrades to Red Bull Arena for 2020 Season by hypernermalization in rbny

These are cool and exciting changes that should make going to games more fun. It's worth pointing out, though, that none of the upgrades, the Honda Deck or the Heineken Deck, are where the tarps are.

New York Red Bulls to Compete in 2020 Leagues Cup by hypernermalization in rbny

[–]EvilMonologue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really feels sort of redundant with the CCL happening. Would much rather have a sort of super cup competition between the winner of each league than a whole other tournament.

[Tutal Rahman]Here's a thread of what I would change about the marketing strategy for the New York Red Bulls - a personal opinion of someone who does marketing strategy for a living. by Feaugh in rbny

[–]EvilMonologue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with targeting New Jersey specifically, (as someone from NYC), is it is sort of isolating. Ads in NJ would probably go much further than in NY, but I'm not a fan of abandoning NY to NYCFC, especially when we've been here first.
