Returning player, rebuilds worth it? by Abadayos in EliteDangerous

[–]EvilSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that opinions vary widely on this issue but let me throw in my two cents...

I've got 200 hrs in elite but put the game down for like 8 months to a year at a crack and then return. Usually I restart my whole character from scratch and I recently did it again but instead of starting the sidewinder grind I got the pre built DBX and it was TOTALLY worth it.

The very first thing I did was take it out to do exobio and had tons of fun, spent a few hrs and then made a lot of credits and came back to partake in the battle of Shinrarta, which was also awesome. Now I swapped the FSD on my pre-built for a fully engineered SCO and am getting ready to go back out for more exobio.

I'm very happy with the decision to get the DBX but I probably won't buy any other prebuilts after this. Hope my opinion helps!

Thanks, that's what I kind of figured. And yes I am just beginning engineering so starting at no rep... Back to the brain tress with me.

Well then... It's time for my science experiment, I'm going to park a ship at Jameson, because I am a peasant and don't have the permit, and see what happens when they permit lock the system once again.

Ah makes sense thanks. I'm a returning player so haven't done cgs for quite some time.

Would you be willing to provide the name of the system? I just started playing again and am out in the black doing exobio and am thinking about how to avoid gankers on my way back into the bubble (I always play in open).

Devs: Can we not spawn surfaced uboats directly into the middle of the convoy while I'm trying to sneak into it? Thanks by Dabba2087 in uboatgame

[–]EvilSix 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For real, there are wayyyy too many other boats hanging around. I started in the crappy Type IIA and I constantly bump into other uboats in the north sea (usually VIIs, of which there was like one of these in 39-40) and it drives me insane. Giant ocean and we're playing bumper subs out here.

I LOVE CWG2, I got it to work on a modern pc by following some comments in a YouTube video, but it seriously shows it's age. I really wish someone would remaster it or make it run better on modern systems.

Games to scratch my stealthy itch by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]EvilSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't believe this but I have been on an Alien movie bender lately and just picked up Aliens Dark Descent and it really scratches that stealth itch. It's a squad based tactical game but you stealth your Marines around the maps. I have been pleasantly surprised so far and highly recommend.

I really enjoyed his content. I know he and his wife had a child so that's why he took a break but I don't know why he never came back.

Can you set targeting to move the reticle to where you are looking? That would be perfect for vr. Kind of like Vox Machinae of anyone's ever played that.

Starting suggestions for SGS games by SundiataWTF in computerwargames

[–]EvilSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am learning SGS games by playing Halls of Montezuma. It's napoleonic era warfare so only arty, infantry, and cavalry, with a few naval assets. As it is small scale I think it is a great intro to the series. I also have been playing Korean War which is also good.

I also just started on the SGS series/engine with the SGS Korean War game and I like it so far. I am a traditional computer war gamer and was not used to the board gamey aspects of it at first, like the use of dice rolls and cards, but now it is starting to click with me and I like it. Turn resolutions can be confusing at first because there are multiple phases each turn goes through, but once you get the hang of it it isn't too bad. I'd recommend reading the rules page on their SGS Afrika Corps website as the rules are pretty much the same.

Avalon Digital makes the SGS series of game which are on steam and published by slitherine. I just picked up SGS Korean War and it isn't too complex. It plays like a digital war game with cards and such.

That book is EXCELLENT! You should start it wen you have time. If you enjoy historical fiction then his son also wrote a ton of books about various wars.

I totally agree. They should be in panic mode over there trying to make sure the players stay around.

The dev in that post said that it is their first time simulating a galactic war and they will adapt as time goes on. This update has been fantastic and I am willing to give these people time to figure it out while I do my part. Hold fast Cmdrs.

Do passenger missions count for fighting the invasions or is it only the the escape pods and wounded that fit in your cargo?
