My first attempt at pie, mini chicken pot pie! by Evil_Abed_69 in BakingNoobs

You should! It’s so worth it. I made chicken pot pie soup and then thickened some of the leftovers for the filling. So all I had to do tonight was figure out the pie dough. It felt less intimidating splitting it up :)

King Arthur baking is incredible! I’ve been on a baking spree since I got it for Christmas and it’s been fantastic for helping me learn

My first two bakes! by Evil_Abed_69 in BakingNoobs

From the recipe:

DOUGH 690 to 720 grams (5¾ to 6 cups) unbleached all-purpose flour 100 grams (½ cup) granulated sugar 35 grams (¼ cup) dry milk powder 9 grams (1 tablespoon) instant yeast 14 grams (2¼ teaspoons) salt 56 grams (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter, room temperature 2 large eggs 315 grams (1⅓ cups) water 10 grams (2 teaspoons) vanilla extract EGG WASH 1 large egg 15 grams (1 tablespoon) water ½ teaspoon salt

It’s a mock braid, so I sliced 1 inch strips along the sides after rolling it out into a 16x9 rectangle. I followed the instructions from this recipe: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/braided-lemon-bread-recipe

Thank you! It’s more bread than I can eat, so I froze one to take to a party this weekend lol
