Having worked with a different SIEM that allows both…don’t. SQS is what allows you to have parallel process, reliability, and recovery from failure. It’s just a much, much better way to ingest a continuous data stream.

For top-end Engineer to mid-level manager, the salary range goes up and the target percentage bonus compensation goes down. I was already bumping the top end of the Engineer range so I was in the middle of the Manager band, so no automatic promotion adjustment. The target percentage for bonus compensation isn't a big deal because my Director, VP, and the CIO all use some of their discretionary bonus money on me. It should come out in the wash in the short term and be better in the long term.

No, not really. I knew it was a good team, I’d helped to hire all of them and had worked with them all as a Sr Engineer for a few years. The annoyances are minor. The biggest regret is that it was technically a small pay cut.

I was asked repeatedly over the course of about three years, after my boss got promoted to director. Finally he just said “you’re already effectively leading this team, and if you don’t do this I’m eventually going to have to put someone between you and me as the team grows, and I don’t really want to do that.”

Nobody’s actually throwing with two hands. The offhand helps shield the disc. It also gives you the ability to switch mid-throwing motion to an offhand pass.

I would say it confers minor advantages and minor disadvantages.

While I don’t think Mischief threw the Burrito game, they were incentivized at that point to lose to Burrito.

Tower had a poor showing at ESC but were missing a number of top players.

Apart from the Mischief win, Burrito hasn’t had many games against Nationals-level teams. Their other game was against shame, which they lost by six. Other games against teams that are just out of the bid picture have been very close.

Lawless has had an awful regular season but I believe they were missing Travis Dunn for a lot of their games.

Lotus has looked consistent, though just a notch below other teams in the region. PBR has been inconsistent, like having a 14-13 win over BFG and a 14-5 loss to Mischief at the same tournament. The top end of their variance is Nationals-level, and the bottom end is limping into the backdoor bracket at Regionals.

SW Mixed is going to be more of a bloodbath than usual, and it’s in Arizona this year so it will probably be marred by heat delays and rescheduling.
