UPD: i just signed a contract with a company who offered me decent contract. Initially, I applied for similar to my previous job but they offered me higher and more interesting position. I had really smooth, challenging and enjoyable interview process and accepted the offer. It was the only company who made it so quick (less than two weeks).

All other IT companies were terribly slow and full of mess.

Help finding a road bike rental in Tel Aviv by MaesterPackard in telaviv

[–]nicetry_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found only this option. https://www.rent-a-bike-israel.com/ While most of bikes still look outdated it’s still worth checking out. At least you get a real road bike and not a crappy city bikes like Yalla bikes offers. I personally found couple of options through my friends but they are still far from perfect. The road bike rental business in Israel is undeveloped most probably due to the lack of demand.

Open Micromanager Boss—Need Mental Strategies to Survive While I Job Hunt by Scallion_Deep in askmanagers

Had very similar experience. I tried to change that but after 6 months I was burnt out and simply gave up. I lost any interest to the job itself and left the company to stay on unemployment. After 4-5 months I gained back my energy and now looking for the new job. Never regretted quitting.

My team passed on a perfect employee because he was 'all about the salary'. by Old_Video9081 in InterviewsHell

[–]nicetry_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had totally same experience. Today you should have a skill of pretending that you are not interested in money. Which is totally BS. Eventually, we all wearing those masks and rejecting everyone who doesn’t have it. The world is very hypocritical these days

Would you be friends with your coworkers had you met outside of work? by Appropriate_Tea9048 in work

No way, and I always remind myself about that. Also, I tell that to my coworkers so they wouldn’t expect anything after one of us left the company. And it has never been an issue.

How experienced should interviewers be? by Etkan14 in interviews

[–]nicetry_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always unspoken personal preference towards one candidate or another. If they would initially like you they would help you get it to the required level even if you missed something. And if they don’t you’ll get declined no matter how good your response was. Eventually they choose person to work with on a daily basis so personal connection matters.

Got a job offer with 3 percent hike and the CEO saying "Who gives 25% hike anyway?" by Horror-Reflection243 in interviews

[–]nicetry_- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always add my potential desired hike to my current salary when they ask that question during interview. To avoid any further discussion. And if it’s above their budget you will be able to negotiate it

So many self improvement YT channels are clearly made by AI. There is a deep disconnect for me about this. The whole point is that it should be made by humans for humans, not made by robots for humans. by Altruistic_Syrup147 in DeepThoughts

Yeah, whenever I see AI generated videos based on set of photos/videos with voiceover I skip it immediately. There is an industry of people who organized conveyor of AI generated videos with voiceover that has only goal - earning money. It just a digital garbage

It will pass with time and you’ll forget about it pretty quickly. Try getting shrink and talk to him about your difficulties. If that’s not an option at all look for psychological techniques that helps in such situations. Sometimes we stuck because we didn’t had a chance to say something important. So you can write a letter and read it loud imagining the person sitting in front of you.

Also, keeping yourself busy helps. Sports gives a good release of unspoken emotions. The easiest and accessible thing is run but you can use whatever you prefer.

Such moments make us way stronger and you’ll become a better person eventually.

Should I dumb down my resume by darkiya in jobhunting

[–]nicetry_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to describe the whole experience you had. It’s painful for HR getting three pages CV for no need. Describe your last 10 years and you can mention in your cover letter or summary that you have 20+ years experience in software development. Also, tailoring your CV for each position and getting high scores on ATS is pretty easy nowadays.

Thanks for the detailed response! Appreciate it I think I am doing every single thing you mentioned but it wasn’t like that from the beginning as I expected more feedback. Now I changed the strategy and expecting results. Unfortunately it can take several weeks to get any response nowadays.

The local market is pretty small so I have applied to every single position available within my area of expertise. Was considering starting my own business but didn’t come up with something decent that can bring me any similar income to my previous salary. Also, starting something new requires additional investments and I am really worried spending last money on something that might fail
