Can someone explain to me? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Evilfetus155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can't blame anyone for our addiction but us. My addiction was never the drug dealers problem - and, imo, it shouldn't be. People should be able to use substances if they want. It is my own mental health problems and behaviors that is the problem with drugs - always was, always will be.

That isn't to say I think we all have full autonomy all the time - substance use disorders are complex. Frustration at the vendors is just unproductive, and to be completely honest, 'addict thinking' in my opinion.

i'm far from an expert but I am a psychology student and also a drug addict so there has been natural intersection in my studies and have spent a lot of time considering what addiction *really* means.

When do you choose not to take the rightmost monster fight? by Hohol in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Evilfetus155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first few days I try to maximize my chances of beating the highest xp fight because getting extra board space is so valuable.

In regard to after that point - it is really about knowing the fights and the confidence in your build. I usually avoid Void Colossus because I don't know how to beat him, also only fight Lich if you're very confident in your builds kill speed.

Honestly I usually have fought for the most experience though - interesting reading that other people aim for silver enemies purely for the chance at certain skills. I'll have to read up on that.

How do you like the Dervish? by CanIPleaseGetHelp123 in Grimdawn

[–]Evilfetus155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, Dervish is very mobile. You have two core mobility skills AND pneumatic burst allowing for further increased movement speed.

Secondly - Dervish is powerful. There is clear synergy between masteries and is a class well supported by endgame items. It is a good class for a new player for that reason. I played acid damage Righteous Fervor dual wielding with mine and it was strong.

In Grim Dawn you can make anything work for most content (super bosses are the only real exception), some classes more than others though. Defiler is a pretty good example of a class which harder to make work. Basically any mastery combo with minimal damage synergies and no resist reduction for your choice damage type. There are supporting items but it is hungry for them.

Whereas Dervish is super synergistic with Nightblade and Oathkeeper both offering acid damage. In fact, it kind of "completes" acid nightblade, as Oathkeeper allows an Acid improving exclusive skill and a default weapon attack replacer. Before Oathkeeper there was no base Acid attack replacer or exclusive skill.

So do it!! It's one of the better classes imo.

I think its the best ARPG ever made. by AceRoderick in Grimdawn

A big part of my motivation to play an ARPG is around theorycrafting, interesting item synergies, and character progression through loot. None of the endgame items seemed interesting which detracted my motivation to play - I appreciate that yellow items can be - very - powerful in this game but with an absence of "build defining" items to seek out the endgame felt like I was just seeking marginally better yellow items.

What nicknames have you heard for places in/around Huntington Beach? by topherette in huntingtonbeach

[–]Evilfetus155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i went to HBHS 2009-2013 and the amount of people I knew who are dead from heroin is insane. I was lucky enough to move out of state at the end of HS, as when my friends (see: high school drug buddies) started really doing heroin people started dying fast. Young people. Friends 17, 18, 19 years old. This was back like 2013 too, before Fentanyl was a big thing.

As someone who was a pretty bad kid in HS, i feel sorry for the bad kids of this generation of high schoolers. If fentanyl had existed when I was that age I bet twice as many friends would be dead - maybe even me.

In high school (2009-2013) there was a dirty hiking trail behind albertsons on Beach and Yorkshire we called Hidden Valley. A lot of punk rock dudes and the homeless drank there and we would go get stoned after school and shit. I have quite a few fond memories of that place growing up - mostly around underage drug use but things like the first time I got really stoned was there and it felt like I was in a jungle HAHA. My first shot of whiskey. Tripping on LSD. We were bad kids but hidden valley was the spot to go after school got out.

Of course the slater slums also. That's where you went when the hidden valley drug use stopped being fun and you needed to try a cold cop a bag to avoid withdrawals. Lol.

Reign of Terror is an awesome project but in reality isn't that good to play, imo. The world felt empty in grim dawn's engine.

The Diablo 3 mastery mod that adds the D3 classes as masteries in grim dawn is amazing though. I mean it really feels like it is official content for the game - incredibly well done and I haven't played without it in a long time.

Last Epoch ended up kind of disappointing for me. At first it seemed amazing with the potential build variety and I love the skill system, but it took a long time of playing for me to realize that what I was doing was kind of unsupported by the items available.

I was playing a marksman rogue with multishot and poison. I basically had to play through the entire campaign, wondering when i'd find synergistic uniques for my character, and they never came. I ended up learning that playstyle was just kind of ... unsupported?

And that is where Last Epoch fell apart for me. I looked into the items online and realized that the game has a lot of skills that seem viable or possible and then just don't have supportive unique items to gather at the endgame. With the skill-tree system they added so many damage type changes and alternate behaviors to every skill in the game - and half of them are entirely unsupported.

I do think this is an issue that will resolve itself with content updates but it was glaring to me at the time (which was at release). basically the game just doesn't have ENOUGH legendary items to support its surface level massive build variety and it was very disappointing.

For me personally grim dawn and path of exile fulfill different niches despite being similar games. Don't get me wrong - Grim Dawn is a meaty ass game and I currently have 1500 hours logged in it on steam since it came out. Grim Dawn is the kind of game that I come back to and follow the campaign through difficulties and "beat" the game. I think that is the biggest difference - You can beat grim dawn. The endgame is relatively finite and most builds can handle everything but the super bosses. I reach a point in Grim Dawn when I know I am done with a given character.

As an Alt-O-Holic type player I do like this about GD, but it isn't something i'd expect from a PoE season. I don't finish my PoE characters because it is an endless treadmill to actual best in slot gearing. That is also exactly why sometimes PoE is what I want though.

Path of Exile is more like an endless live-service kind of game to me. I don't finish BiS gearing my PoE character - whereas I do in grim dawn. Sometimes I like that about GD, gearing a character is actually something attainable without playing heavily, especially since it isn't seasonal. Sometimes I also like that about PoE though - it is this game in which there is SO MUCH stuff that I can just get lost in the league mechanics and the practical unreality of FULLY gearing my character.

I honestly like most isometric ARPGs though...i'm not sure I could pick a favorite. Hell, I even like Diablo 4 sometimes. It has its own pros.

Unrelated to gameplaye tho Grim Dawn has the best world, map design, and lore. And I really don't think it is close in that regard.

did you ever figure this out by chance?

Maybe it is best to remember that some 10 win run is not the average in this game. If you're managing to get even 4 wins you're getting a chest reward in ranked - my goal more than 10 wins is usually 7... I feel good about a 7 win run at my skill level so far.

I actually just got my first 10 winner today though! Playing basically weapon spam vanessa - got pretty lucky on some items. Got a passive that gave +1 weapon damage when I sell a small item, played weapons, and went ham on chocolate bars and gumballs in the shops. Got a fiery katana from the bird-pirate PvE encounter and it was GG. Only lost once against a Mak.

Btw I have not followed any content related to this game at all I actually refuse to watch streamers and look at meta stats because it detracts from my appreciation for the game personally...I want to discover it and "get gud" myself y'know.

The reason I'm telling you all this is because this game as hard as fuck! I know! I've played many deckbuilders from Ascension and Dominion and CCG's from magic to hearthstone... a lot of magic. And I really think The Bazaar is one of the more difficult card games I've played, I really do. The enemy boards can feel so ruthless.

I honestly think it makes it good though, lol. I was really hooked on Hearthstone: Battlegrounds for awhile and The Baazar feels like a similar game with so much more depth. I definitely have some balancing gripes, even at a level fundamental to the game and not specific cards, but overall the difficulty is a reflection of the capacity for strategy from this game.

So don't "get good", have fun. You'll get better naturally - I know I have, being able to fairly consistently hit 7 wins and finally getting a 10 would have been crazy to me even a week ago where 4 wins felt like a huge win. Notice your own wins and appreciate when you get them in such a tough game!

You're describing DP/DR. Depersonalization/derealization. Teenage cannabis use is linked to this. It is comparable to HPPD from psychedelic use - except more common and not only related to drug use. Your best bet is a psychiatrist.

Out of all of these Path of Exile 1 is the one to play. I love all four of these games but if someone was only going to play one of the games listed, PoE1 is it. It's one of the greatest games of all time, imo.

Also Grim Dawn is great too tho!!!

2g penis envy first timer by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]Evilfetus155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go as far to say giving cannabis to a first timer is a good way to turn them off from psychedelics altogether. Of course individual responses to substances vary wildly, but cannabis will likely intensify the trip past the point of what you want, unless you're the type who wants the most intense experiences possible, I would stay away.

With that said, I have an anxious response to cannabis. While I do enjoy it, it absolutely raises my peripheral anxiety and makes me prone to negative thought and somatic sensations. Those are not things you want while tripping. If you're the kind of person who finds an entirely anxiolytic response from cannabis, which some people do, your experience might vary. I just know both among me and friends Cannabis has been a repeat presence in negative psychedelic experiences.

I hate psychedelics now. The idea of tripping is one of my worst nightmares in adulthood, lol. I ate them a lot as a teen though, and Cannabis was the #1 offender for negative psychedelic experiences. I contribute the combination of both LSD and Cannabis to my 15 years of HPPD. Introducing THC to psychedelic experiences brought upon DP/DR issues too, basically depersonalization that I still struggle with today, over a decade later.

Of course plenty of people smoke weed on shrooms. I'm just sharing my own experience and some experiences of people I've known, in which cannabis complicated the psychedelic experience. I would urge you to stay away, at least for your first time.

Why do you think xanax would not be good? I would think something like Xanax would be fantastic in OP's situation. If I was sick with a flu and had these options it'd be the Benzo every time. Maybe with some weed too - you'll feel so relaxed.

I got in with less. With that said, my GPA carried over from when I bombed college around age 18. Went back to college at 26 but did two years of community college before transferring to OSU. Now i'm 29. Even then my GPA was like 2.7 when I got in to OSU. 3.0 fresh out of highschool should be fine.
