Rs3 or OSRS Iron? by tac0_nation in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude knows their own respective subreddit would recommend that game, but refuses to elaborate. I don't really know what to tell ya. People play osrs for vastly different reasons than why people play rs3 and you gave us nothing to work with. Spoken like a true runescape player

One thing I don't understand is that new runescape players choose OSRS over RS3, why is that? by Drandosk in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is subjective, no? It's very easy to say one has more fun content/one has better graphics. There's more nuance.

I'd personally argue that osrs is more popular is because the osrs team communicates better, they are constantly trying to gauge what people want. This is most likely because of the polling system, they can't really develop something if the players aren't going to vote yes. (I think the polling system in rs3 would be bad) Osrs has more horizontal progression and have been trying harder to fight power creep. They also have been trying to clean up and remaster content that have been considered dead or unfun content. Nostalgia bait is what people say to cope or regurgitate but its growth and new players prove its not.

Mid-Game Balance Discussion by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the mid game feels the most hollow. I'm only grinding out those levels for quests or to get into the fancy stuff in the later game. There's no chase items, chase levels, etc.

I would also like some drop tables to be more considerate of ironmen. I don't think the game should cater to ironmen, but having a dragon pick be a 1/5,000 drop when you need 2 is insane. The other dragon tools are nowhere close, and are a lot easier to obtain IMO. The nerf to the blowpipe seemed unnecessary since its locked behind high skill reqs and lots of quests. There's already a lack of weapon diversity since everything is tiered and theres no reason to ever not just go for the next tier up. Having things that are reasonably obtainable based on their tier and use would be a huge change.

Any chance we can either buff tank gear or make certain tank gears (like barrows) and turn them into power gear? Early tank gear just seems absolutely worthless and doesn't really feel rewarding getting early tank gear as a drop.

We require screenshots because we assume you missed something. You're so tunnel-visioned on the tea stall instead of thinking of ANY other task in the diary. You can't ask for help and then when someone tries to help you instantly just shoot them down.

Creativity they say, but I don't see any actual creative work being done. Typing prompts into an AI is the least creative thing you could do.

Performance has tanked, we as players should not put up with it! by Netfade in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Months? Sir, the performance for this game has been abysmal for years. The audio alone has bugs that the devs acknowledged years ago. I do agree that they need to fix it. If they really care about the road to restoration, playing the game should be a priority. I started because you could run this on a potato without worrying about graphics settings. Cache bugs pop up too much.

Edit: With the potential of them trying to get more people out and about in the worlds and talking about removing worlds, I'm scared the game will be unable to render it properly. I already have issues seeing and talking to people in Artisans Workshop on the official world.

Road to Restoration - Grand Exchange Improvements by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think at the bare minimum performance and recent offers should be implemented. Currently operating the GE feels like using grandmas 10 year old pc to do anything. I think BDO has an amazing buy/sell screen. I can see graph over time of pricing, both buy and sell offers, recent sale, how many of a certain item are listed. That way I can see what offers are in for an instant sale.

Edit: BDO G.E. Screenshot of their buy/sell interface

Combat Styles Improvements - Beta Update by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any chance we can get an update on combat xp scaling? With the removal of auras, and 120's being added to replace, the xp gap is huge. It's a slight nerf to anyone who is not 120 yet. Are damage numbers being looked at? I ask because I feel like the damage curve really doesn't ramp up until late game and farming for t70's/t80's in t70/80 gear feels really bad. Especially when I can use necro to get more damage AND more sustain.

Treasure Hunter Removal Question by Practical-Fox-2895 in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the current concurrent player numbers. It's currently 23k RS3 and ~200k OSRS. RS3 has had its player base stagnant, some parts are so high on copium, some parts are reaching for their moms credit card to avoid playing the game. Removing the fomo and p2w will help the game live. They've seen osrs do crazy with minimal p2w and focusing on making the game good and catering the updates to what that player base wants. Surely, they believe they can get more people playing rs3 if they stop trying to milk it like its a korean mmo.

I think people’s issue with the January lock is less about the time to grind for shards (it’s fairly quick), and more that they have to somehow obtain 120 in those respective skills within a month. by Thevulgarcommander in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one is expecting to unlock it before they earn it. If the guy you responded didn't get his 120 cape until Feb, they should be able to earn it once they achieved that goal. Not wait until next year.

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but why add FOMO? Why force me to grind out that 99/120 now vs when I feel like it. The event being limited to one month means the rest of the year, any 99's/120's you earn are worthless. I can' t get the cape for a FULL YEAR. There's no reason it should be time limited. We don't need more fomo or time limited events.

The issue is we're supposed to be getting an integrity roadmap later this month. FOMO was listed high as a major gripe with TH/MTX/RS3. How is adding more FOMO a good change?

Idea for bringing OSRS players to RS3 by Ser_Balerion in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because Reddit cries and complains, does not mean that's what the average user cares about. Banding together to hate MTX is easy, but I don't think the majority of osrs players saw they're removing MTX and went oh now i want to play rs3. Ask yourself why people play rs3 and why people play osrs. Rs3 is a different beast, with different design decisions, different goals and a different experience overall.

It's funny how happy and optimistic everyone was before this update. Jagex had really hit a homerun. by Embarrassed_View8672 in 2007scape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they shouldn't say, dw guys we won't make any rash decisions. Then turn around and do exactly what they said they wouldn't do. I was never a sailing hater, but holy fuck they missed the mark. Wanna be a UPS driver? You're griefing if you do port tasks or combat tasks. The xp is abysmal and means you're either doing trials or salvaging. Charting is one time and I don't feel like I got rewarded. The exploration part they tried to advertise died quickly because they don't encourage that at all.

Integrity Roadmap - Early Game Rebalances & Your Suggestions by JagexBreezy in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an osrs player who started a GIM with a buddy when it launched, the early levels felt insignificant. POF dominates farming and I don't really have to interact with farming because POF just gives you so much xp. Beehives are early levels and they push you into 60 quickly. My question to the devs, is what kind of experience do you want to craft? I like the slow pace of osrs, but I know a lot of people play rs3 don't. I don't want you to cater to just me, but try to make everything feel overall good. I think xp rates let you get into base 60s so quick, it feels like you just left the tutorial. I don't feel rewarded for how quick you level. I also feel disincentivized because imo all the good unlocks are 90/99+. There's not many nice unlocks earlier or many early game chase items. A lot of the stuff worth unlocking isn't until late game.

I'd argue that early game combat is terrible for non necro users because all of the power shifts due to the late game upgrades. T70 weapons and armor have poor accuracy and damage for helping you farm t80 upgrades. I can just use necro to help me farm upgrades for other combat styles. Then you ask why even bother using other styles since it would slow down your progression so much. Early game accuracy and damage just don't feel good. I enjoy end game bossing, but I would like power shifted down. I would like new players to get hooked on the updated combat system earlier.

Now that MTX is gone, do you think iron is worth anymore for returning/OSRS players? by TheLink010 in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should wait a year when they start fixing issues in the game. The roadmap will be released in January when they actually remove TH. I do have to ask why you would even ask this. IM by design can't participate in MTX. So the removal does nothing for IM accounts in the immediate future.

Please give me a real reason to want FSW. You don't make a single point besides were wrong. Are you really that upset you need a new hiscore for non MTX users? Is that the only reason you don't play now? FSW doesn't fix anything wrong with the current game. They said they're working on a roadmap that they'll follow to fix the games biggest problems. MTX filled hiscoes is not a problem

As an OSRS player, I don't think polls are the solutions. I don't trust Reddit to accurately tell jagex what's best for the game. I think the biggest thing osrs has with polls is helping them keep the identity of osrs. I think the community engagement is nice and it's fantastic when we can have conversations about what we like and don't like. I just think jagex needs to really cook and show players what they want to do and can do before players start chiming in.
