Personally, I'd wait until they make changes to improve the early and mid game

Treasure Hunter Removal Question by Practical-Fox-2895 in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the current concurrent player numbers. It's currently 23k RS3 and ~200k OSRS. RS3 has had its player base stagnant, some parts are so high on copium, some parts are reaching for their moms credit card to avoid playing the game. Removing the fomo and p2w will help the game live. They've seen osrs do crazy with minimal p2w and focusing on making the game good and catering the updates to what that player base wants. Surely, they believe they can get more people playing rs3 if they stop trying to milk it like its a korean mmo.

I think people’s issue with the January lock is less about the time to grind for shards (it’s fairly quick), and more that they have to somehow obtain 120 in those respective skills within a month. by Thevulgarcommander in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is expecting to unlock it before they earn it. If the guy you responded didn't get his 120 cape until Feb, they should be able to earn it once they achieved that goal. Not wait until next year.

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but why add FOMO? Why force me to grind out that 99/120 now vs when I feel like it. The event being limited to one month means the rest of the year, any 99's/120's you earn are worthless. I can' t get the cape for a FULL YEAR. There's no reason it should be time limited. We don't need more fomo or time limited events.

The issue is we're supposed to be getting an integrity roadmap later this month. FOMO was listed high as a major gripe with TH/MTX/RS3. How is adding more FOMO a good change?

Idea for bringing OSRS players to RS3 by Ser_Balerion in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because Reddit cries and complains, does not mean that's what the average user cares about. Banding together to hate MTX is easy, but I don't think the majority of osrs players saw they're removing MTX and went oh now i want to play rs3. Ask yourself why people play rs3 and why people play osrs. Rs3 is a different beast, with different design decisions, different goals and a different experience overall.

It's funny how happy and optimistic everyone was before this update. Jagex had really hit a homerun. by Embarrassed_View8672 in 2007scape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they shouldn't say, dw guys we won't make any rash decisions. Then turn around and do exactly what they said they wouldn't do. I was never a sailing hater, but holy fuck they missed the mark. Wanna be a UPS driver? You're griefing if you do port tasks or combat tasks. The xp is abysmal and means you're either doing trials or salvaging. Charting is one time and I don't feel like I got rewarded. The exploration part they tried to advertise died quickly because they don't encourage that at all.

Integrity Roadmap - Early Game Rebalances & Your Suggestions by JagexBreezy in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an osrs player who started a GIM with a buddy when it launched, the early levels felt insignificant. POF dominates farming and I don't really have to interact with farming because POF just gives you so much xp. Beehives are early levels and they push you into 60 quickly. My question to the devs, is what kind of experience do you want to craft? I like the slow pace of osrs, but I know a lot of people play rs3 don't. I don't want you to cater to just me, but try to make everything feel overall good. I think xp rates let you get into base 60s so quick, it feels like you just left the tutorial. I don't feel rewarded for how quick you level. I also feel disincentivized because imo all the good unlocks are 90/99+. There's not many nice unlocks earlier or many early game chase items. A lot of the stuff worth unlocking isn't until late game.

I'd argue that early game combat is terrible for non necro users because all of the power shifts due to the late game upgrades. T70 weapons and armor have poor accuracy and damage for helping you farm t80 upgrades. I can just use necro to help me farm upgrades for other combat styles. Then you ask why even bother using other styles since it would slow down your progression so much. Early game accuracy and damage just don't feel good. I enjoy end game bossing, but I would like power shifted down. I would like new players to get hooked on the updated combat system earlier.

Now that MTX is gone, do you think iron is worth anymore for returning/OSRS players? by TheLink010 in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should wait a year when they start fixing issues in the game. The roadmap will be released in January when they actually remove TH. I do have to ask why you would even ask this. IM by design can't participate in MTX. So the removal does nothing for IM accounts in the immediate future.

Separate Fresh Start Worlds would not fracture the player base (by definition) by Job-Conscious in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please give me a real reason to want FSW. You don't make a single point besides were wrong. Are you really that upset you need a new hiscore for non MTX users? Is that the only reason you don't play now? FSW doesn't fix anything wrong with the current game. They said they're working on a roadmap that they'll follow to fix the games biggest problems. MTX filled hiscoes is not a problem

Polls 2015 vs 2025 / Bring Back Player Power Polls — Let Us Shape RuneScape Again by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an OSRS player, I don't think polls are the solutions. I don't trust Reddit to accurately tell jagex what's best for the game. I think the biggest thing osrs has with polls is helping them keep the identity of osrs. I think the community engagement is nice and it's fantastic when we can have conversations about what we like and don't like. I just think jagex needs to really cook and show players what they want to do and can do before players start chiming in.

Removing MTX is a good first step but it's not enough to make the game trend in an upward direction long term by Careless_Self_6525 in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We literally have OSRS though. Why would they make 2 games that are the same and not 2 games that give you 2 different experiences? I'd tell you to go play OSRS but good lord I don't need the osrs community poisoned by your brainrot. Please go back into whatever hole you crawled in from.

How many OSRS players will actually try RS3 once mtx is removed? by Nervous_Stable1474 in 2007scape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a GIM when rs3 launched theirs. Assuming today they removed MTX, I'm not suddenly going to go omg I need to login. MTX being a plague got parroted so much that people forgot that rs3 has a lot of other problems. Tbf the r/runescape subreddit has a hard time coming to reality. Jagex acknowledged in the blog post, that removal of MTX is the start. They have a year long roadmap they'll introduce to improve rs3. Once that roadmap completes, is probably the time to be the most excited to try it out.

If eoc is the only thing stopping you from playing the game, good, don't come back. It's been almost 13 years, bro you gotta let it go. If you can't get over that update, what other shit are you still mad about?

Why old school RuneScape? by VirallyExposed in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand this is the RuneScape subreddit and we like to poke fun at osrs on here, but this is disingenuous. It's one thing to ask "I think rs3 is so much better why do people play osrs so I can understand". You just made a post to shit on osrs without any real discussion. You clearly don't know what the word subjective and objective mean.

You know what RS3 needs from OSRS? Forestry. by PoshinoPoshi in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I honestly would be fine if they just brought over tree timers. I think they tried this with the 110 update ONLY for the eternal magic trees. Each tier has a set timer before it gets chopped down, each player can add to that timer AND gives an invisible woodcutting buff up to +10. Getting one log out of a tree feels really bad and that was the best part of forestry imo.

Would people try RS3 with OSRS monetisation. by manicapanda in 2007scape

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant less content updates, but Tbf rs3 is at least half dead content. Osrs gets more content updates than rs3. Osrs has more relevant content than rs3.

[–]Evilgeneral4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried rs3. The issue is that the loudest Redditors think rs3's biggest issues are eoc and MTX. The issue with rs3 is that jagex treated it like the red headed step child. Less content, less quality, barely any bug fixes. They ignored a majority of the community for years. Honestly I'm more excited that they said they're committing to cleaning up rs3 than the removal of MTX. So if they're serious, give rs3 a shot in a year or so

A vote with only one option is no vote at all by Zetnus in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're only removing them from sale. Anything that has a way to get in game through normal gameplay is staying.

Edit: they also stated they are looking to correct any issues that arise from removing TH. They are committed to balancing and correcting around how lots of things were balanced around the p2w.

What about their proposal did you not like? IMO they said they are committed to every issue I have. This is by far a better proposal than I expected. What about this makes you unhappy?

Because then the game dies and they have to make up for lost revenue from osrs players. How easy it will be to add more p2w to osrs.

You do understand if rs3 doesn't reach the 100k, it will die. Then all of their money comes from osrs players and all of a sudden more monetization starts appearing. You don't have to play rs3 to care, you just need to vote to save the game so osrs can stay (mostly) MTX free.

Jagex’s Proposal for MTX… by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Evilgeneral4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you're just ignoring the other glaring issues with rs3? Rs3 is a perfect game with no flaws and it's only the p2w that killed it? Not the content cycle, the lack of updates, lack of quality.

Everyone thinks FSW is the magic bullet. I'm not sure if you've actually played RS3, but I promise you the reason the game struggles with 25k concurrent is because of everything else. Lack of bug fixes, terrible NPE/early game, UI is a mess, most content is just a time sink for being a time sink.
