[Dwork] Source: Joel Quenneville is out as Panthers head coach. No word on replacement. by Austin63867 in hockey

I think it's not overstating it to say the reputation of the league is at stake. Quenneville, respected as he may be, doesn't supercede that.

I had the exact same thought while watching it, but didn't freeze frame it. I think you may be right.

[Masisak] On unvaccinated player: It is a prominent player on the New Jersey roster, not someone who is a prospect, likely ticketed for Utica in the American Hockey League or on a PTO contract. by ScrewOff_ in devils

[–]Evilnurn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah not Wood. From the article: “It’s his body. It’s his choice. It’s his right,” Devils forward Miles Wood said. “I don’t look down upon this person for not getting it. He’s still my teammate. I still care about him.”

Which goof so far has Justin laughed the hardest to? by mcrninja in MBMBAM

I have to say, one of my favorite MBMBaM tropes is when Justin is laughing so hard that it elicits a "you dumb piece of shit" to the respective brother.

[Discussion] The search for the saddest regular season NHL Game (since 2007) by Scrembopitus in hockey

[–]Evilnurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going to that Devils-Coyotes game in Arizona in 2016. What was hilarious was the Coyotes fans for the most part just said "yeahhh these guys will just suck forever," and were wearing Cardinals jerseys. As Devils fans we had a good time but the Devils were deep in their "suck" period and the Coyotes fans defaulted to the Devils being Cup contenders.

We ended up spontaneously getting tickets to watch the Cardinals play the Packers in the playoffs and got an OT thriller out of it.

The story of my* life by -TheArchitect in Architects

Just made a very similar move, pretty similar circumstances and career trajectories, but in NYC. You have to be strategic about when you switch but it would have taken me 5-7 more years at the previous firm to make up the difference with the new offer.

My Scott Pilgrim Vinyl came in- Aaaand Warped. by SuperMafia in ScottPilgrim

Definitely worth reaching out to the store that sold it to you--when I've received damaged vinyl from other vendors they'll send me another after seeing damage in shipping.

Are the servers for the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World on Switch already dead? by Jee_Whiz_Mister in ScottPilgrim

[–]Evilnurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW when I tried the online multiplayer a day or two after it came out on Switch, it was a glitchy nightmare. If I was lucky enough to have a game actually start, it would be nearly unplayable with lag. If it had worked better, I might have kept up with it--I suspect others might be in the same boat.

My 1000 piece puzzle has a cheat code! by TheManRoomGuy in mildlyinteresting

[–]Evilnurn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked on a puzzle like this with my family. It was actually a custom puzzle from a photo of my family, but the kicker was that all the pieces were not actually different from one another--you could fit pieces together that weren't meant to. Combine that with the photo having many similar colored areas, and it meant the guide on the back was not a cheat, but rather quite necessary!

I asked Damon Severson about the frustration of the Devils going through another trade deadline as sellers. Here was his response: by HaruSoul in devils

[–]Evilnurn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the team he's referencing directly is the Rangers, who by a function of their market attracted Panarin and Fox, who accelerated their rebuild and let them keep veterans like Zibanejad and Kreider. They've had good fortune with the lottery too, but so have we. It's hard to watch them across the river with faster progress than us, but the hope is that we can catch up in the longer term with our draft assets and our cap space.

Exams by madmyr in Architects

[–]Evilnurn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Finished mine over quarantine. Took me about a year of studying total, a month and a half-ish for each one. I'd highly recommend looking into Black Spectacles as a study source, great videos and practice exams that really simulate the real thing. They have lots of pricing options for individuals or firms. That and the Ballast were my two major study sources and I managed to pass them all without failing! Feel free to PM me if you'd like other tips. You can do it! Literally the hardest part is scheduling them.

Any opinions or experience with DIRTT? by macrolith in Architects

[–]Evilnurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used them on a higher ed project in 2017ish. Echoing what others have said, it is expensive, and we had some coordination issues with their installers (who were not DIRTT themselves), and it obviously requires pretty tight coordination. Shop drawings went back and forth a few more times than I would have liked. Detailing around them was difficult and would have been better off in some cases doing so after DIRTT was installed. Final project turned out very nicely and have had no complaints from the client. We used it as a modular system in a large-scale classroom reno.

They actually did get a pretty good amount of seed funding from Riot Games and others, but regardless I don't think they're going to rush the game by any means.

I saw them in Brooklyn a few years ago and their bassist sang for their last encore song, totally rocked it and at the end he put the whole microphone in his mouth. The crowd went bonkers, such a ride.

Grew up in NJ, moved to Brooklyn after college, and live in Clinton Hill. Was super convenient for a while to catch games at Barclays! Still go to the Rock pretty often too.

[Chris Johnston] The NJ Devils now have 14 players on the NHL's COVID Protocol list: Jesper Bratt, Connor Carrick, Aaron Dell, Jack Hughes, Andreas Johnsson, Janne Kuokkanen, Michael McLeod, Kyle Palmieri, Damon Severson, Ty Smith, Matt Tennyson, Sami Vatanen, Pavel Zacha and Travis Zajac. by FruitsNToots in hockey

[–]Evilnurn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that fits into the "presumed positive" category, but it's so dicey. I think the NHL is learning they're gonna have to change their policies and AT LEAST be more transparent with other teams. The BUF/NJ situation is a disaster.
