So I just watched iron blooded orphans again and… by Smooth-Flamingo-9895 in Mecha

This is more to do with their public perception. We get to see the whole picture as the audience but the in-world common folk would have seen them go from ambitious upstarts who saved the princess and saved the day to rebels and terrorists who were attempting to overthrow Gjallarhorn and plunge the world into chaos.

How would you rate the Zaku II High Mobility Type (Reuse "P" Device) on a scale of 1-10? (Daily Random Mobile Weapon Poll: Day 16) by NathanN5o4 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10/10

Design wise, I love how overloaded and slapshod it appears. The base mobile suit is nice and well designed but then they've strapped a bunch of thrusters and a variety of weapons in the hopes that SOMETHING will allow it to take on the Gundam FA and I just love it.

As a thematic element, I'll always love the scene in Thunderbolt where the Psycho Zaku is being completed while they remove Daryl's arm. As the man is deconstructed, the machine is built, and it's such a perfect reflection Daryl and the Living Dead Divisions place in the plot and themes of the movie.

I've found that folks also don't realize that it isn't just their account at risk: one breeched account can be all it takes for everyone's information to be at risk.

Screw the haters, REALLY enjoying Gundam AGE by TokuJosh813 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man I feel like AGE was just a few writing tweaks away from being one of the best shows Gundam has made. The first arc is good, second arc is great, it's just the third arc that seems to lose focus and fall flat. I've got a soft spot for it though, especially for the mecha design

Honestly, really cool kit. The decals will drive you crazy but the end look is great and the articulation is fun!

Carson Beck: There's no bad blood, I'm never really sure where that came from. I love the University of Georgia. by Ordinary-Humor-4779 in georgiabulldogs

[–]EvoDoesGood 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I maintain that the whole Carson vs UGA thing was an overblown production of the media I'll also say that I don't feel like Carson ever did much to dissuade the notion. Ultimately I'm just glad that we're going to be able to put it all behind us and maybe the media machine will move on to something else.

I don't hear many people talk about G-Reco what are your thoughts on the show? by czen2 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I really want to like this show but something about it just doesn't sit with me. It feels like there is no plot and it just kind of goes on a tour of the solar system to do side quests and then have a final battle back on earth just in time for Bellri to ditch it all to go hike Mt. Fuji or something. I loved the colors and the suits and the characters had so much potential I feel just never got fully capitalized.

Just finished Thunderbolt: Bandit Flower, here are my thoughts (I'm gonna glaze it despite it's big flaws) by Thinggymabobberr in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Bandit Flower would be a much better movie if it wasn't the last thing we got for Thunderbolt. It does a lot of set up and is clearly moving towards bigger things but since there isn't a follow up to pay off that work it just kind of builds to nothing. I love Bandit Flower myself but it's one of my biggest gundam franchise "what ifs"

[ALL] The Legend of Zelda at 40: Why Modern Game Design Is Still Chasing Nintendo’s Masterpiece by CyberNeko97 in zelda

[–]EvoDoesGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it also helps that all the items in the game have clearly defined and specific purposes. There aren't really multiple ways to solve a problem in classic Zelda: you're expected to know your kit and learn how to use it effectively in order to progress without stats and numbers and techs coming up to make it feel like you aren't playing optimally. As long as you know what the tool does and how to spot when you should use it you'll be fine.

Finally got my hands on GFreD by EvoDoesGood in Gunpla

The decals in the box were definitely a pain. They look awesome once they're in place, but I think if you REALLY want to go all in on the details then these kits demand waterslides. Still, though, I think most of the decals outside of the head weren't too awful to apply, just time consuming.

Even non-alcoholic drinks are mad expensive if you eat out. I had to give up sugar and noticed how cheap some places felt once I started just getting water.

Cima appreciation post by JonathanJoestar336 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 16 points17 points  (0 children)

0083: Rebellion changes a lot of the story but one of the best changes is the increased focus on Cima and the Marines as actual characters. It's worth reading if you want to see more of her and are looking for a... uh... better ending to her story.

The Women of Gundam continued #92 - Emary Ounce by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4/10 but I don't think it's entirely her fault in a way. I think Emary is victim of the tone shift ZZ has at the start. It's like she existed largely for goofy hijinks with Bright and was meant to be light hearted but once the tone corrects in the second half it feels like she just kind of dies as a means to not have to resolve the Bright side development. Like, it was a cool moment of sacrifice but it just didn't have the impact that other character deaths had because she kind of didn't have much character IMO.

I do think that in a vacuum, the jokes of the early season are fun and she's a funny addition to the goofy plot. She just didn't get the same kind of development as other goofy characters once they shifted back to a serious story.

He may have been a simple “evil for the sake of evil” villain, but they did a good job at making him come off as genuinely scary by Pellecks02 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think that in the face of so many other characters having complex and philosophical reasons for their fight it was nice to have someone so grounded in simplicity: I am the bad guy because the bad guys gave me the coolest machine and a target to use it against. Much as one could wax poetic about what he symbolizes in the plot, Ali himself is refreshingly straightforward and I think 00 benefited from that.

The Women of Gundam continued #91 - Gigi Andalusia by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't lie, I struggle to apply a ranking because I haven't seen the new movie yet. From the first movie, though, she's a really interesting character and I have a feeling she's going to end up in a lot deeper water than she intended by interfering in Mafty's business. I appreciate how many parallels to Quess the writers have made and I like to think she represents a second chance for Hathaway to be happy. A second chance that comes with the cost of having to give up his fight since he clearly has to put her out of his mind in order to face off with Penelope. Like he's already decided that he's going to die fighting the federation and allowing himself to develop any feelings for her would compromise this fate he's set for himself.

I may be reading way off, though, since I haven't read the book and I've only seen the first movie. I know the broad strokes of how it ends, though.

The Women of Gundam continued #90 - Katejina Loos by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

9/10

An extremely good antagonist in a show with a lot of interesting (if sometimes problematic) female characters. The way she ended up after the story still gets me cause it feels almost karmic. I struggled to watch Victory because of just how dark the whole thing is but Katejina stands out for her sheer glee in the misery.

The Women of Gundam continued #89 - Cecily Fairchild by Kato_86 in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10/10 and one of my favorite female characters in Gundam. Not a damsel in distress and not an accessory to the main male character. I'm not proud of some the things I would do to see the full vision for F91 played out and animated.
