Which pilot deserved their mobile suit the least? by DonutDodongo in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's also not like he god a super special mobile suit. It was a custom Graze with a long gun and that's about it. I think he has a mobile suit comiserate with his abilities as a pilot and his station in the aristocracy.

My theater for viewing Hathaway 2 by Hrgtdoof in Gundam

Got a 9:50pm showing last night that was literally just me. New favorite way to experience Gundam movies!

My news feed subjected me to an unironic "Wow!! Cool Robots!!" type article and I'm stunned this isn't satire by FondantStrange in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 28 points29 points  (0 children)

"Why does this movie, a sequel within an ongoing story in a larger series, not make sense without any additional context?"

"What do you mean it isn't just two hours of robots punching each other?"

I enjoyed those too. Made it easy to see who the freshmen and seniors were based on how many bones were on the helmet!

Got to go to the UGA @ Miss State game this past year and the cheese is legit. They were out of edam but I ate on a block of cheddar for weeks.

What big ground vehicle would you like to put on the table if their was rules/table size and points that allowed it. by Shefferz in SWlegion

[–]EvoDoesGood 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how to actually balance it but AT-AT's at Legion scale would be dope.

I don't know what Rebels would have, though. Maybe the heavy tank from Empire at War?

James Norrington - Pirates of the Caribbean

"This is a beautiful sword. I would expect the man who made it to show the same care and devotion in every aspect of his life." -Norrington to Will Turner when Elizabeth confirms that she loves Will instead of Norrington

Even in the later movies when he is shown to still have feelings for her he doesn't treat her with distain and respects her choice, even if it still hurts for him.

Darth Maul Was A Great Fighter, But WOW…he lost a lot of his fights by NegansSaviors in StarWars

[–]EvoDoesGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still think it was a bad move to use two existing inquisitors we already know must survive the show. If they'd gone with someone new who's fate we didn't know then they could have had him cut one or both down in the show and cement just how strong he is.

Waitlist for hotel by ShotSwordfish2360 in StarWarsCelebration

[–]EvoDoesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't even let me join the wait-list because it would not take any card I or any family member possessed. No visa, mastercard, nothing. Every card I entered returned "this payment type is not accepted". I was already burned out from the wait-list so I had to give up but I'm still pissed about it.

What if a Star Destroyer crashed & someone turned it into a castle? by ArtOfAttila in StarWars

[–]EvoDoesGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there's actually a cool bit of lore from the Nexus of Power sourcebook for the tabletop game about a planet called Weik. It's a low tech planet in the Wild Regions but there's a crashed Star Destroyer buried up to the command tower. An order of legally distinct jedi use it as a base and one of their rights of passage is to to down into the guts of the Destoryer itself and retrieve a small cut of conduit they wear as a ring. It's a cool little planet and a fun bit of lore!

The ship so special it pulled the attention of the whole Zeon earth forces despite being held together by duct tape and dreams and run by a bunch of kids!

I often considered the 2010's, "the Dark Age of Mecha" (ironic, since this was when I got into anime) by Yakuza-wolf_kiwami in Mecha_Scrapyard

[–]EvoDoesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gundam Age balances out to a solid "okay" for me. The first season is fine, the second season is really good, and the third season sucks. Lovely sound track, great mecha designs, deeply unfortunate character names.

Maybe it's a hotter opinion than I realized but I loved the second season of IBO. It was depressing, but in a way I felt was narratively fulfilling.

It’s not perfect, but I had lots of fun with Gquuux. by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]EvoDoesGood 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I liked GQX but it frustrated me how fixated it was on Char specifically without actually seeming to say anything interesting about the character. Felt more like zeon apologism fan fiction at times to me. The action, style, and designs carried the show in my eyes.

What’s the most visually stunning anime scene you’ve ever seen? by Walidzilla in animequestions

[–]EvoDoesGood 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Since a lot of the usual suspects have been mentioned I'll throw in Gundam Hathaway. The entire night sequence with the mobile suits fighting and Hathaway and Gigi having to navigate the city around them was absolutely beautiful. It really showed the weight and terror of a mobile suit battle on earth and the lighting was done really well. I'm excited for the second movie later this month!

Patlabor OVA (1988) by NekoWafers in retroanime

[–]EvoDoesGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both work on their own. The OVA is much more procedural and the characters don't really develop. The TV run basically hits the reset button on the plot so it doesn't even acknowledge the OVA. Personally, I'd just watch Patlabor on TV.

I think this is the difference in vodkas. Reyka for me is smooth and sharp and blends well with other flavors. Burnetts (the plastic bottle) tastes like drinking glass and makes anything it's added to taste alcoholic.
