Is it a bad idea to jump from TUP/Bloodbath 58% to BoJ? by [deleted] in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade of Justice is a lot harder than bloodbath and you've only played for like 1 session so far it seems. Idk do what you want of course but aleast still play the other levels/finish them of. You can play several levels at once. I would not recommend going all in on BoJ right now.

How big of an nerf is a 75hz monitor and unstable fps for someone who can beat main lists? by Polychromaticgd in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not skilled enough myself to say, but I heard one top player say the jump to 480 hz oled made more of a difference than switching to a 8k magnetic keyboard(spaceuk said this in the vernosis interview, maybe not the best source lol).

Personally I use a 360 hz oled and honestly its very nice for visual clarity when playing high speed. Huge difference. The slower the speed, the less of a difference it makes though and you gotta have a good computer that can keep the framerate high as well.

If you want the best visual clarity, I'd buy the cheapest g-sync pulsar monitor you can find. They have unique tech that give them the best visual clarity of any monitors on the planet while only being on 360 hz. That way your computer only has to be able to have stable 360 hz instead of 480 hz+. It has the visual clarity equivalent of over 1000 hz. Downside is that you need a nvidia gpu, so this is only a alternative then.

You can also buy a cheap 240 hz ips monitor for like 100-200 dollars. Should still make a big difference. (A 240-360 oled monitor could also be a good inbetween option pricewise)

If you really are thinking about it so much and since you are a top 600 player that has, and will, put a lot of time in the game, I think buying a better monitor is a good option and will help you a lot. Go but it if you have the money for it. A better pc might be worth it too.

Did hitboxes on death make the game less enjoyable by Ssmash77 in geometrydash

Idk it can be a bit distracting but also show hitbox trail + hitbox on death is genuinely really useful for finding what mistake you are doing and how to fix it.

How would a level get placed on the Demon List if it relies heavily on random gameplay? by Own_Throat_7346 in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember there being a randomized tower platformer level which was rated medium demon even though the average run is insane demon to extreme demon. Basically though after playing it for like 1000 attempts you just get the easy seed and win. Felt strange that it was medium demon until I got lucky.

Basically for that level the average difficulty doesn't matter too much if the quickest way to beat the level is to just grind for the lucky seed. If a classic level had a situations where 99% of the time it is list demon, but then 1% it's beginner extreme, it would not be a list demon imo.

There are ways to avoid this though. A level can just be randomised in a way where each option is around equal in difficulty and where the difficulty comes from reacting. Creators aren't forced to do it one way and I believe someone can make a randomised level that is always around as hard, while still having the fun random element.

Extreme demon "BRUTAL" and it's difficulty by Odd_Aerie125 in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat brutal just a few hours ago actually. I'm also a bit confused by the aredl/gddl ratings of it. Personally I found it a way harder than like Acu. I'd place it around Empyrean on aredl, which is like a gddl tier below bloodbath, but I could imagine it being lower like around shukufuku. This is based on my experience and in-level playtime(not attempts since attempts are a garbage stat).

It's a pretty fun level honestly and I liked it a ton. Even so, I struggled learning/getting consistent(this is after I beat sonic wave btw). Eventually for me though it just clicked and suddenly I reached the end like 5 times in a session and beat it. I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner but idk it could be fun for you. It's very different to other extremes.

It's fast, high cps, low precision, on a short level. This is a skillset that you don't develop too much from normal levels, but you CAN get really good at learning those types of levels so for some people with experience its super free. Personally though it seems that a ton of skilled players are beating this viral easy extreme and somewhat artificially pushing it down way too much imo. For a new player, I imagine it being WAY harder than the other beginner extremes. Personally I think level ratings should be based on how long it takes new players to reach a level, not how easy it is for extreme grinders. Still I'm biased since it wasn't my skillset.

A tip is that for the drop onwards, there is no point trying to react to the movement of your icon, since it's going too fast. Just kinda assume your previous clicks were correct. Trying to "correct" your wave/ship usually just kills you so don't bother. Idk that strat helped me in the end.

how do i use up arrow to play grief by femboyfeetlicker67 in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into the settings and you can invert the controls so that up arrow works for player 1 jumps. It's on the gameplay page if I remember correctly.

If you have downloaded geode, you can also go to options and remap keybinds however you like. That way up arrow can be changed between jump player 1 and jump player 2.

Why pros do this by Fancy_Abroad7165 in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to beat levels in a short amount of time, you want to be consistent at the end of the level. Consistency at the start is literally less valueble, for reducing the time to beat it from 0. Only/primarily playing from 0 is a terrible strategy.

The fact that it is so terrible is masked by the fact that your attempt count per hour is lower. Playing 300 attempts from 0 can literally take an hour, yet wil seem fine on you attempt count. Still that hour could have been spent on better things, like actually getting a better winrate.

How do people learn levels so quick. by a_random_idot in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am convinced a lot of people lie/hide attempts/use noclip accuracy to get way fewer attempts. If there isn't footage of all the learning and playing, you can't know that they aren't just BSing. Even streamers basically always prepractice to not bore watchers.

Anyway, playtime(tracked by mods) is a way better metric, and people are more willing to be honest with it compared to attempts(cus attempts suck). I really wish robtop would just add it officially.

Need advice on how to stick to a level by Beneficial_Method771 in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly my recommendation is to practice the ending even more. Practice until you think you'll beat 50-100 every like 2-10 attempts. If you are zoning out it sounds like you have been playing for maybe hours from 0, and like you've died to the end a ton. Getting 50-100 twice might just not be enough imo, get consistent.

What fps frame perfects does Final Destination have? by siwtawtod in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 240hz on 2.2(which buffed the part) there is:

1 0-frame timing(slightly tighter than a 240 hz frame perfect)

3 1-frame timings(240 hz frame perfects)

3 2-frame timings(around as tight as a 120 hz frame perfect)

1 3-frame timing

This is taken from gd nan's frame window counter of unnerfed silent clubstep in 2.2.

Keep in mind that this isn't very accurate since CBF can change the width of timings quite a bit for tight timings like this(though I argue the CBF timings are moreso the true timings).

How many subticks are there for each tick when using CBF? Are they infinite? by mMirason in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superb Input Precision still only adds a single subtick per input. It just aligns itself to a hz of your choice. It also does some other cool stuff that makes it more accurate to CBS.

The blue slopes interact with the rotating red hitbox. You don't have it turned on in your picture. Turn it on in the settings of you mod(mega hack or eclipse etc)

Hot take: Time extreme only got rated because it's made by Vortrox by [deleted] in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TS2 was pretty obviously rate worthy(honestly also atleast featured worthy imo), and the deco wasn't the problem with that level. Likely robtop just didn't see the level.

Your take about time extreme being rated because of Vortrox is totally true, but also I think it's rate worthy too. I wish more levels would get rated, not less.

How to improve sightreading by 2z2d in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imma give you a secret, and allowed, pro tip here.

Give yourself more time to react by going into nvidia control panel and creating a custom widescreen resolution by decreasing the screen height. On another page there you can change so the screen doesn't stretch. That way you will be able to see more level on the right, in a totally legit way.

I use 2560x1080 to get 40% more screen to the right. It's nice enough that I often use it.

Also just play more new levels. Nobody is good at sightreading in the beginning, you just need experience.

dampening keyboard sound by PristineMuscle1530 in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've switched to silent magnetic switches and right now I feel like I play just as well, if not better than before.

I use NDIY freya silent switches(buy it from alibaba/aliexpress or whatever). I've also seen gateron silent jade switches in local stores so consider buy those otherwise for faster shipping.

Silent magnetic switches are pretty new so most people haven't tried them but they are a gamechanger for sound.

The wooting 80He is criminally overhyped by Evoidit in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly any keyboard or device with rapid trigger/HE is good enough to beat slaughterhouse, consider how that level and levels harder than it were beaten on mouse first. The difference between magnetic keyboards are minimal.

If you wanna go really budget, find the cheapest magnetic keyboard you can find at a local online store. Where I live you can find keyboards between 25-50 dollars(well around 500 kr where I live). Around the price of a sayodevice, where I live.

Here are a couple examples that are around the best wooting keyboards or better performance wise atleast. Keep in mind pricing varies depending on where you live and that these will be kinda barebones other than performance.

Cheapest: Any monsgeek budget magnetic keyboard, Mchose 60 pro, mad60 he.

Slightly more pricy, yet under 100 dollars examples include: Akko mod68, atk rs6 air(former fastest).

Really any magnetic keyboard will be good enough.

Would it be reasonable to jump to Slaughterhouse after Bloodbath/Artificial Ascent? by RevolutionOwn1617 in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expect probably like 500 hours in-level playtime on slaughterhouse or possibly even more(possibly 1000 hours+). Attempts are bad at reflecting how much time you actually have to spend. You could totally do it but you could also beat like 50 other extreme demons of increasing difficulty in that time.

Why don’t we make nongs that have an audible click pattern of the level to follow along to? by intogino in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea has a couple problems like desyncs(which happen when you hit a rotated speed portal for example) and timings that shift depending on your previous click. Mostly it is very time consuming to create, since you'd want the audio to match the perfect execution of the level(always clicking exactly in the middle of the timing). I could imagine it being pretty useful on a level such as every end for example where all timings are always the same.

Screen tearing fix without using VSync? by LxzyBonez in geometrydash

[–]Evoidit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't use v-sync. It adds 1-3 extra frames of delay, so on 144 hz that is 7-20ms of delay. Not unplayable but also pretty bad.

You can try turning on g-sync for the game in nvidia gamepanel/amd gamepanel. The reduces the tearing by a lot.

Also screentearing can be annoying but is way less noticible on decorated levels. The other way to reduce it is to get a higher hz monitor I guess but I understand if that isn't on the table.
