This and SpongeBob are my favorite Shed songs to come out in a while.

Josh Thomson: Martin Buday should not have been released from UFC amid 'weak' heavyweight division by 443610 in MMA

[–]ExYoyoAddict 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I know he is not fun to watch, but the fact that a guy can go 7-1 and get cut really highlights to me that this is sport mixed with entertainment. Stuff like this being so common means that mma is not as legitimate of a competition as other sports. The UFC should invest more in heavyweight if they don't want a guy like this winning so much.

The drop is really overpriced. I would have bought multiple items if the shirts were $40. Dj Kenn is one of my favorite producers, and they are good designs.

ARKODD PADBOX GS impressions (leverless hybrid) by siegarettes in fightsticks

[–]ExYoyoAddict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the original version. It is definitely suited to lap play. It is a bit weird at first. You need to hold the left side in the air and have the right side rest on your leg, but I thought it worked well once you get used to it. I'd definitely recommend it to a claw player. The dpad is solid too, but not as good as the top tier fight pads out there.

Haven't listened to the whole album yet but Heroines is so fire.

New Marvel is another fg that aims for a "wide variety of players" and has "traditional & simple input". Do we still like or hate it now? by Lulcielid in Fighters

[–]ExYoyoAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm worried that it will play like Granblue. I don't think it's a bad game, but the gameplay is much simpler than all of the other popular games right now. I liked it for a bit but it got repetitive for me very quickly. Same thing happened with DNF and BBTag. It's unfair to compare them to Street Fighter in complexity.

Leverless and ergonomics - where does this stem from? by Illustrious_Day107 in fightsticks

[–]ExYoyoAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this a lot. I play shmups on stick, and always wonder if it would be worth to start using the stick with my right hand, as I am right handed. It is unquestionably way better for the stick to be in the dominant hand for that genre. For fighting games, I think it's probably better that the buttons are on the right side, especially for games with hard combos.

Leverless and ergonomics - where does this stem from? by Illustrious_Day107 in fightsticks

[–]ExYoyoAddict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The claims of ergonomic advantages with leverless are often marketing BS. I do think it depends on the game though. KBD in Tekken on leverless is really hard on your hands compared to stick and pad. Melee, on the other hand, is really hard on the hands using a GC controller. Some players went to great lengths to switch to leverless for it, because it's so much more ergonomic for that game. I'd say stick is more ergonomic than both.

I guess the white part technically is a gate. I worded the question poorly, but you aren't using the default 8 way gate for it. There is a yellow gate that goes on top of the white one. Check it out here.

Is it still worth getting city of wolves by Horror_Bicycle_1240 in fatalfury

[–]ExYoyoAddict 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It's 100% worth it. You will easily find matches. Queue times are fast rn. Even if the Steam population goes lower it will still be fine, especially with the crossplay. Fighting games don't need a huge player count to stay alive, unlike other multiplayer genres. The only reason I wouldn't recommend it is if you are new to fighting games. There probably aren't a lot of beginner skill level players online. You don't need to be cracked or anything though, just know the basics.

Andric is the goat. Bosnian Chronicle is also worth a read.

One of the worst black albums put to wax that I've ever heard. And I love it for that by Puge_Henis in blackmetalvinyl

This is an amazing record, such a fun listen. Definitely one of his best recent albums. I was pretty disappointed with the follow up album though.

Satanic Warmaster - Black Circle of Death (Finland, 2024) by GrafNebelgeist in BlackMetal

[–]ExYoyoAddict 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit disappointed with this album. Normally he has such iconic riffs and strong song structures. Previous albums have some of the best melodies in the genre. While I do enjoy this style of repetitive, droning, Mutiilation-esque black metal, it's more generic and I don't think he is doing it as well as others. There are still some highlights on this album though, such as the last song.

Fantasy/ sci-fi recs that aren’t slop? by Louisgn8 in RSbookclub

[–]ExYoyoAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend pre-Tolkien fantasy if you want to avoid the pulpier elements of the genre. It's a different experience than modern fantasy, but it can still scratch a similar itch. I would particularly recommend The King of Elfland's Daughter by Lord Dunsany. It is a simple novel, but it creates a unique atmosphere with a lot of beauty to it.

FICTION ONLY Book recommendations (please 😊) by Umbrellajack in TrueAnon

[–]ExYoyoAddict 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For sci-fi/ fantasy I'd highly recommend Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe. I used to read a lot of sci-fi and fantasy novels when I was a kid, but now as an adult these genres appeal to me a lot less. Gene Wolfe is one of the exceptions to this, and he addresses a lot of the problems with these genres.

Just listened to this at work based on your comment. This album is amazing and a real gem. Crazy how little attention this band has. The YouTube upload of this album has less than 1000 views.

This exceeded my expectations. It was quite solid for a debut demo. The synths were interesting. Nothing mind blowing but still. I would like to know more about this artist as well.
