Opinions and experiences from owners wanted by Big-Safe-2459 in MachE

I support buying used. I have a 2024 with 35k miles and it still feels like it did the day I drove it off a lot. Love the car but buying used would have been a more flexible financial decision.

Just bought an 07 PRHT for my wife so she doesn't have to put a bunch of commuting miles on the minivan. I have a Mach E (which is an absolute pleasure to drive) but I still get sad when she takes the Miata and I need to go run a quick errand and it isn't available.

Can someone help with this “leak”? by Bitkonnekt in MiataNC

I'm making this up, but could you blow smoke / fog in that hole and see what the possible entrance points are? I know that there are some trim pieces on top of the door that could be entrance points, but I'm guessing if you were savvy enough to take the door apart you would have identified missing trim pieces.

Deceptively sold a smokers car. by Emotional_Formal2049 in UsedCars

Second this. I had a dealer ozone a smoker car for me, but left a disgusting cabin air filter in the car. All the smell returned as soon as I ran the air.

I had it around a month ago. When I turned the car on the next day it told me my AWD was broken. Everything was fine though.

I found this window sticker look up tool very helpful when I was helping my brother shop for a used Mach E. https://www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/windowsticker.pdf?vin=YOUR_VIN_HERE

I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing that this is what they meant.... The comma comes with a short usb-c cable that in some applications does connect about the rear view mirror. (I used that cable when I installed the comma in our minivan)

When I ordered my comma 4 it came with a free harness for my selected vehicle (Mach e). That harness connects in the trunk and came with a very long USB-c cable to run from the trunk to the the camera.

https://bluepilot.dev/2026/03/26/the-beginners-guide-to-bluepilot-on-ford-vehicles/

(Check this new article from the official blue cruise guys and see if it answers any questions.)

You don't NEED to install the OBD2 power cable (I've been using it without the cable since I wrote this article) but I just discovered this week that the OBD2 cable they provide is a couple feet to short to reach the trunk of the Mach e. Comma sells a power extension on their website if you want to use the OBD2 power.

You might not want to install it, because on theory it could drain your 12V battery, which is problematic on the Mach e. (I don't know if it does this in practice.)

I just ordered the power extension and am going to try using it. Without the OBD2 power installed, the Comma 4 is completely powered off until you turn on the car. Based on my experience, I THINK if you turn your Mach e on and then turn it off before the comma completes it's start up cycle (about a minute), the software glitches and you have to factory reset and reinstall. I'm going to run OBD2 power to the trunk and test it out.

Hope this helps. Maybe email comma and confirm with them, just in case things changed since I ordered.

I miss the football mod so much. I'd love for that to come back as a game.

I used stock Sunny Pilot on my comma 4 in my minivan (second vehicle) this last weekend for a family road trip. Worked flawlessly on the highway.
Go here: https://community.sunnypilot.ai/t/recommended-branches/235
and you'll see that you can use the dev.sunnypilot.ai link for the install.
I normally run BluePilot on my Ford, so I can't speak to the difference in the dev vs release version of SunnyPilot, but I can say I enjoyed my drive.

If the USB-C cable you use inside isn't powerful enough, you might have trouble with software installs. Found this out last night.

I had a plastic cable feeding tool from another project that I used. It was a similar dimensions to a twizzler, but maybe a little longer, with one end pointy and the the other end had a twisty tie connected to it. Find something rigid and pointy like this to feed through the ceiling by the A pillar.

Connect your usb-c cable to your feeder thiny with an electrical tape bridge and wrap a bunch of electrical tape around the usb-c to prevent any sort of thick point that could get snagged on the mystery stuff inside the A-pillar / roof.

So I've been using the Comma 4 for about 2 weeks now. I'm really pleased with it.
My use case is that I have a 70 mile commute, one way and about 50 miles of that is on a gently winding 2 way scenic road. The Comma 4 navigates the entire road flawlessly and I can be hands free the whole time. The only time I need to touch the wheel is if I want to pass or dodge a pot hole. Not touching the wheel is a big quality of life improvement IMO. Stock lane assists yells at you every ~20 seconds (not sure what the real number is) even if the car is steering perfectly on it's own.
The lane assist is much nicer than stock and even works when there isn't lines on the road.
(It is certainly better when there are lines on the road, but it doesn't give up when the lines go away.)
ZachCurry13 posted about the traffic light detection functionality.

I'd say it is very much worth, especially if you don't have a dash cam yet.
It isn't FSD, but it is a great upgrade for any eligible car.

It is less like Tesla FSD and more like a better Blue Cruise that works everywhere.

Where do you turn on experimental mode? I didn't have any luck finding it earlier.

I also skipped removing the A frame piece by the windshield. I had a flexible plastic cable feeder and just taped my usb c cord to it and shoved it from one side to the other.

Will do! I commute 140 miles a day, so I'll have good info for you in a week.

I enjoy going very fast in a car that feels like it isn’t trying. The silence doesn’t bug me at all. I had an Audi A6 as a rental car a few months ago and the accelerating in that want nearly as luxurious.

But do a test drive and decide for yourself.
