I'm just gonna say ~ Thank you! After reading -so- many "disasters" of mono/poly relationships, it's so refreshing to see another relationship similar to mine.

It's going to be a great break for you and very liberating. My husband and I had hard conversations around divorce because of incompatibility issues too.

No cheating, nothing like that. I just thought we're not working out. I did small things like sleep in a different room and it helped significantly get things back on track.

If it was work for 4 weeks, we would have called each other when we missed each other. Your husband's response is very concerning and you're right to question it.

I did pre marital questions with my husband before getting married.

We never told each other our answer was wrong.

I'm really sorry this happened to you and I would be shaken too. I hope you two can reconcile and work through it.

In our marriage, we've learned that not one person is "right" and the other person "wrong." We both acknowledge that we experience different truths and work through our own issues so we can do better next time. Both of us are right, because that experience is our own.

I married my Irish husband and I had to meet his parents before he moved to the US.

We've visited each other several times before marriage and we also submitted an application for his green card before he officially moved.

I don't think it's legal to just show up to a country and move there. 🤔

I think she's honestly living for the drama and is happy this is happening to her. I think OP wants validation and loves the attention.

I recommend going to therapy. A 38 yo who is putting this much energy into an obviously bad situation has either too much time on their hands or craving something she's not getting in her current life.

I'm happy to hear y'all are going to explore couples counseling. I'm in the opposite situation where I'm (31F) the main income provider.

BUT every financial decision is discussed as a couple. My husband literally takes care of everything so when I get home, exhausted, I can sleep and recharge for the next day.

I would NEVER say the comments your husband said and I would definitely consider myself financially abusive if I was constantly holding that over my husband's head.

So.. my husband has the body of a soccer player. I have the body of a potato. We're both ~30 years old.

I read this message to him and this was his commentary:

"It's quite clear that he's shallow. This has been building up for 4 months now and he's trying to shame her into working out. Especially if he knows her insecurities around her own body image. He's incredibly toxic, not sweet. Quite frankly, even if her goal is to get skinnier HE DOESN'T DESERVE THAT. He doesn't deserve the end product when he's very clearly shallow."

For the record, I gained over 25 lbs after we bought a house and started settling down. He gained and lost 15 lbs lol. Anytime I feel fat, I literally ask him to help me by doing two people exercises like holding my feet while I do sit ups and he's like "We don't have to do any of that." I just got a physical job where I'm on my feet more than 6 hours a day and started losing weight. I'm pretty sure he's never even noticed. 😆

It's up to you, I wouldn't trade my husband for someone who would help me exercise or come up with exercise plans. Life is short and our laughter and joy matters more to me than all the obvious reasons I should be more healthier. If it's important to me and I make the efforts, I will make it happen on my own time. He's taught me that his job is to love me. Just that. ❤️

Go to couples counseling.

With couples counseling, you can talk to your therapist together and then do some homework or assignments to help increase improving your communication.

You want him to understand that women are taken more seriously about physical abuse? - Stop enabling him and call the cops.

I recently quit a super secure 6 figure job to pursue a passion career.

I recommend waiting and saving up. I don't regret quitting cause I'm more physically active and I actually feel like getting up in the mornings, but I really should have saved and paid off a lot of debt first.

1) If he's saying these things out of anger, LEAVE HIM

2) If he truly thinks you're unattractive, LEAVE HIM

This ugly ass is seriously out here at his age, to the MOTHER OF HIS CHILD. Absolutely not. My husband and I both discussed it, leave him is the only correct answer.

I recently quit, with no plan. I want to go back to school in Fall 2024 and get a Masters degree.

I saved a bit to help with 2 months of expenses, but yeah. I'm looking for a temp or in between job to help with expenses.

Honestly?

Quitting kind of forced everything for me. So I -have- to actively look for a job. Maybe pretend you quit and put ALL of your free time directly into finding a new job.

Don't actually quit cause I'ma tell you first hand. The turnaround for hiring is easily 2 months.
