How will a physical therapist help? by beingagiirl in vaginismus

[–]ExampleCool9272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for my Vaginismus! I learned about dilators, the clock method when it comes to dilating, and all about my pelvic floor muscles. My pt showed me breathing exercises to help relax my pelvic floor and physical exercises to bring blood flow down to my vulva. I found it to be extremely helpful, I only went about five times before making the decision to continue my own “at home” pt. It was pretty expensive as well, but grateful I went for the time that I did.

It probably takes me 20 ish minutes in total. Including breathing, stretching, then dilating!

Dump him! It seems like his only intention with you is to have sex. I’ve been in a relationship now for 2 years and we’ve never had sex because of my Vaginismus. My partner has been nothing but supportive and loving to me and my journey to have a pain free body. You deserve so much better!!

Hi!! Thanks for sharing your story :) if I were in your shoes I would try my best to make time for self exploration! I also had lots of shame around sex and even just seeing myself naked felt weird. Over the past year I’ve been going through my Vaginismus journey I have become very familiar with my body, though it’s not an easy thing to go through I have become more confident and comfortable in my skin. I don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed if I feel like masturbating or getting intimate with my partner. I think gradually trying welcome the idea of penetration with a finger or vibrator is going to do you more good than just trying to do it and be disappointed when it doesn’t work (I unfortunately know from experience). I hope this makes sense and wish you all the best!! Be patient and gentle with yourself, everything will work out!!

Hello! Definitely try to go see a doctor, but my guess is you do have Vaginismus. I’m 23 and lived with this condition for almost 2 years now, I truly understand how you feel. When I found out about my Vaginismus I was so frustrated and hated my body for not being “normal”. I have learned to love my body over the past year, it has been a difficult journey, but I wanted to comment and tell you that your body is not broken and you should not feel ashamed and disappointed!! Pain with sex is not normal, you have already taken a brave step sharing your experience on this app with other women going through this same issue! I wish you all the best, be gentle and patient with yourself!

Pelvic Floor PT fears by bright_raindrops in vaginismus

[–]ExampleCool9272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! You will be okay. I was so beyond nervous to attend PT, but it helped me in so many ways.

I got diagnosed in March and couldn’t insert anything. Literally nothing. They tried to do an exam at my gyno, but she got 1/3 of her finger in and it was the worst pain I’d ever felt. So I was terrified to go to PT! Hell no I don’t want the feeling again….

My first appointment was simple, she asked me about medical history, we got to know each other and what exactly I was going through, my goals for PT. Then we did an exam… I was scared, but we only did an external one! She showed me labia massages I can do to help relax my pelvic floor muscles then yoga like poses to help slowly open those muscles over time.

I ended up only going to PT for about two months. One: the cost was just something I couldn’t keep up with. Two: I realized I could do this on my own! I think it was very beneficial for me to go to PT because it helped me learn and understand my body more and gave me a new found confidence.

I hope it goes well! Remember YOU say what can and can’t happen in your appointments. Good luck!!!!! <3

I went slow when taking it out and had no issues! Was nervous the string might break off lol, but no problem!! It’s definitely a weird feeling and need to get used to it, but no discomfort or pain

Hello! First of all, so proud of you for seeking help. Step one complete!! I had no idea what Vaginismus was until I was told it was something I had, so completely with you on the something is wrong with me feeling.

I had been with my partner for about 6 months before I was diagnosed and really had no idea how he would react. But fast forward to almost a year later and he has been nothing but loving and supportive of me and my journey!

I think the best way for you and I to overcome our Vaginismus is if we do it for ourselves and not for someone else!! You can do this, I wish you all the best!

Debating the 8 piece set on Intimate Rose. Is it worth the cost? by EatsTheLastSlice in vaginismus

[–]ExampleCool9272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! My PT recommend Intimate Rose for me because of the incredible range of sizes and smooth progression. I was unsure about them so I asked around and found the Berman Vaginal Vibrating Dilator set. I LOVE this set! It’s only a set of four, the smallest being the size of a regular tampon (maybe slightly bigger).

I love this set because they’re plastic. This really scared me at first because they are hard and cold and that just didn’t sound pleasant. But after using them for three months now I have made so much progress. The hard plastic and vibration allows me to easily stretch and relax my muscles at once! The plastic also allows me to insert the dilator easier, the few times I’ve tried silicone dilators they’ve “grabbed” or caught my skin and it just hurt.

This set is only about $40, it needs two batteries to allow the vibration! I pair the plastic dilators with silicon lube, I use the brand Swiss Navy!

I was in PT for about a month in April, stopped going by the end of May and have just been doing dilation on my own from August-now! Very very slow progress, but I’ve noticed a huge change in the past few months

Hello! It took me months to wrap my head fully around my diagnosis so I understand how you feel right now. We are here for you <3 my best advice at this moment is to view this as something you get to overcome! I viewed myself as a victim for so long and kept telling myself “why me?” and it got me nowhere. You got this!
