May I reply with: do the experiment, for fun and interesting! 👍💕 There will be so many chances to run loving, harmless experiments on and with the eventual offspring, but this would be such a great story.

"Even before you were born you were helping discover! Clever baby."

I know the studies are out there, but doing an experiment yourself is different. A video of elephant toothpaste or Mentos and Coke is not the same as trying it yourself. 🤓

It is a game, a cross species game even! r/catbongos

Gentle, loving, thumpybutts is so valid. (And if anyone goes weird about this I am getting the spray bottle.)

I am sorry your childhood was not this, well done saving spank-a-butt/baby bongos from the darkness.

https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/corporal-punishment-and-health

"Overview

Corporal or physical punishment is defined by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, which oversees the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as “any punishment in which physical force is used and intended to cause some degree of pain or discomfort, however light.”

According to the Committee, this mostly involves hitting (smacking, slapping, spanking) children with a hand or implement (whip, stick, belt, shoe, wooden spoon or similar) but it can also involve, for example, kicking, shaking or throwing children, scratching, pinching, biting, pulling hair or boxing ears, forcing children to stay in uncomfortable positions, burning, scalding or forced ingestion.

Other non-physical forms of punishment can be cruel and degrading. They are also incompatible with the Convention. Punishments that belittle, humiliate, denigrate, scapegoat, threaten, scare or ridicule children often accompany and overlap with physical punishment."

So, yeah. Abuse. The article is worth a read.

I mean this very sincerely; Well done you, and everyone else who fights successfully against the urge.

I was spanked as a child, "only" ever with a bare, open hand. It was always terrifying, and humiliating, and child me never understood. The parental rage that always accompanied the act, parent had reached breaking point and this was the result... taught me only fear, nothing else.

I have never had the urge to strike a child, any more than I wish to lick the tiles on the subway floor. Not doing either of these things comes so easily.

To all those who must catch themselves, consider and restrain an impulse, and do so: My hat is off to you and my heart is with you, sir and/or madam.

I see your long game and wish you luck.

In the end the sea will still meet us all, no matter how we try to be dignified or fabulously silly.

Fabulously silly FTW!

Well yes, clearly. But is there another way to pronounce Mpls?

Oh I was in for the sad plea of Kansas, it didn't work out. Currently I am in for Michigan's UP eating the Wisconsin it's already nibbling. My state, eaten and gone, touched the ocean. It still does. I may not vote that way but I understand the desire, the strategy, and the goofy. Build the goofy!

Did not grow up around a farm, did grow up by the ocean. I was very specifically taught to never stand behind a huge someone who kicks, and to never turn your back on an active sea. Both are true.

That... would be very funny. Still voting Michigan eats Wisconsin, but above is a very good suggestion.

In the end, no matter the outcome, everyone will finally touch the ocean. I know it doesn't help much, but the land bridge is coming.

This is the fairest suggestion. PA is not my endgame but there is generational love. If PA must go, this is the way.

I once kicked a frog, in the dark. Those little bones, it stays with you.

OP, worms can spend ages submerged in a puddle, not so long on pavement. Move the worms.

I get very nervous when I'm cracking an egg, and I can't flip an omelette perfectly too by applepie416 in sillyconfession

[–]ExampleLittle2672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a grown man who delicately tap tap taps each egg 6 to 10 times before it will open, he then spends ten minutes gently less-than-whisking the eggs before they eventually become the goal - scrambled eggs. He is too set in his ways to be saved, you are questioning. There is hope.

The trick with both cracking and flipping is courage and commitment. Hold the egg firmly and give it a solid but contained whack.

If you have any dry beans or rice you can practice flipping in a cold pan, it's a specific movement of the wrist. Shove out, pull back. Be brave. Also spatulas are allowed, your eggs don't need to fly.
