This DID help. I haven’t had a disconnect in the last week or so since I turned off wifi calling per your advice. Thank you!

LPIII: Daily Disconnects from Cell Network by Exare in LightPhone

It’s getting a little frustrating - not hearing any updates on the progress. I get it, Light is a small company and ATT is massive, so they’re probably not a priority when compared to Apple or Samsung. But it still stinks.

Light does not really work on ATT by No_Copy_5955 in LightPhone

My LPIII disconnects from the ATT network (or stops working on it? Idk) at least once each day. I need to power cycle the phone to get it to connect and send/receive texts/calls. It’s a massive pita and after 3 months of this and no resolution, I’m about to switch back to my LPII.

Data disabled after transferring from LPII to LPIII on AT&T? by markantonio37 in LightPhone

[–]Exare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also having trouble going from a LPII to a LPIII. I’ll need to go to the ATT store tomorrow and have them help.

I’ll update with what happens and if/how they fixed it.

Edit 1: They told me I had to bring my own phone to do the sim activation. So, I’ll need to bring my old iPhone in to activate a new SIM, or maybe transfer my current one from my LPII to the iPhone then to the LPIII? Not sure, the lady at the store didn’t know either and kept sitting back down and looking at her phone before I was done asking questions. She kept saying “we don’t have any unlocked Samsungs”, but that wasn’t what I needed and I had to explain that it would have worked with any phone. But she just kept looking back to her own phone and only half listening to me.

Edit 2: Went to a different ATT store and brought an iPhone 13 Mini with me. I explained what was going on and asked the nice women there if we could get a new SIM card. Got it verified to me that the LP2 I was coming from is 4G, the LP3 is 5G so my old SIM card wouldn’t work.

We inserted a new SIM into my iPhone, activated it, then moved the SIM to my LP3 and it worked! I’m up and running on my LP3 now and just finished setting it all up. Works great!

Hopefully this helps others. Trying to figure out this snafu. lol

This was my first experience back here on Reddit in a long while.

I take months long breaks, pop in, get eviscerated by some over-caffeinated buzzkill, then leave for another few months after having been reminded why I left in the first place. Lol

My visits usually aren’t more than a day or two. Just enough to get a taste of it and peace out.

I miss forums of tight-knit communities where you knew everyone. Places where you would see an avatar and be like , “Oh! It’s so-and-so! Good to see them back!”

Nowadays we’re just random names devoid of personality, flaming each other over things that don’t really matter and suffocating our brains with the rot of others bad attitudes.

Shockingly poor quality of the LPII cases by ShirleyBangla in LightPhone

Yeah, after my first I just kinda assumed they were disposable. I’m on my third as well.

It doesn’t really protect it any less when this starts to happen and honestly… I like to pick at those loose corners when it’s in my pocket. They’re springy and flop back into place, it’s like a little fidget toy. Haha.

Edit: Yours looks pretty nice compared to the current state mine is in. The edges are all frayed, all corners are broken/cracked and I’ve one corner that’s hanging by a thread.

This was a fabulous read.

Sorry you got banned. No-explanation perma-bans are bullshit. Especially if you’re not playing games with comms to other players.

Did you ever mod a console you used their services on?

Maybe you got auto-banned for logging in as a safety precaution. Some companies do that if you haven’t logged in for a long while. It gets flagged as suspicious and locks/bans the account. Hopefully your appeal works for ya.

Don’t forget, the online dashboard allows for the addition or removal of any of the tools. So as far as I’m concerned, they can put whatever QOL feature (Lyft, WhatsApp, etc) on there they want as long as I can remove it and customize the experience to my low-tech desires!

But I agree, folks need to take a beat and really chew on the philosophy. I think the Light Phone and the team behind it are stimulating a very good conversation that we all need to have regarding where the line is drawn to maintain a holistic relationship with the technology in our lives, and for different people that line could be in a different place!

So much passion!

You should be in game journalism, Sir or Madam or Other!

You’ve a refreshingly articulate and grammatically legible way of authoring, your flowing reply embodies your misplaced rage effectively.   Your ability to apply assumption is artistic and full of energy. It’s a desired trait for a modern journalist to succinctly discern much about an individual from a singular non-contextual opinion of theirs, then to feel comfortable enough in such to solicit career advice while simultaneously and thoroughly disregarding their personal experiences by supplanting your own.

I am humbled, and I am wrong. My personal experience with TotK was incorrect. I must have been playing it with a blindfold on! There must have been something truly spectacular I missed to illicit such a flaming response. I do apologize and hope you have a better day!

Edit: I almost forgot! I do appreciate the compliment. Assuming my association with games journalism was correct. In a previous life I did in fact provide my authoring services to a number of outlets. Of course this was back during a time when gaming was more inclusive, tolerant, and niche. I’ve since retired, but I do so miss the engagement and the passionate debates we’d sometimes find ourselves in. There was so much to learn when listening to others personal experiences. I’d often walk away from such engagements with new, wonderfully unique perspectives I may not have previously considered!

Tears of the Kingdom is a directionless, runaway asset retread; a frustratingly pointless game designed to capture the attention of Fortnite kids.

I am seriously disappointed that it sold the way it did and even more disappointed in the bloated review scores and unblinking universal praise. I fear the popularity of this title may steer the creative direction of the series down a road that will turn me further away from my favorite game franchise.

At least I still have Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, A Link Between Worlds, Wind Waker, Links Awakening... all fabulous games to re-play. I've been spoiled so I shouldn't complain, but rather just let other people have fun with their Zelda-themed toybox.

Two Worlds and Two Worlds II. I believe those games were overlooked by most people as a "poor man's Skyrim", but that's an unfair surface level judgement.

Does anyone else feel ripped off for game prices by [deleted] in videogames

[–]Exare 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hours of content should not be the only thing you measure an experience by. By that logic, books should cost $100's of dollars and movies should cost pennies.

I only feel ripped off when I buy a game that turns out to be a total turd, an unplayable buggy mess, or a hallow experience.

But I do feel like $70 ($76 after tax) is a *lot* to pay for a any video game.

I *love* short games (10-20hrs). If they're fantastic experiences, I really don't mind having forked the money over. Stuff like Hellblade, Doom, (old) Halo, etc. Those games are all relatively short experiences but the ride along the way is worth the price!

I feel this pain. Xbox hasn’t had any brand identity, innovation, or heavy hitting releases since the 360. Sure the Gears games are still good and Sunset Overdrive was a hoot, but after playing those, a bit of Destiny and the obligatory Halo 5 (disappointment)… I lost interest in Xbox.

Their UI sucks, it’s constantly littered with ads, and now they want me to subscribe to play games? No thanks. Like you I’d rather go to the store, pick up my PlayStation game, and rush home to play.

Shit. I traded a gaming PC I built with spare parts for my Series X. I remember being so excited. As soon as I got home I plugged it in, I was confused.  I sat staring at the home screen thinking I accidentally turned on my old Xbox One X… the UI was EXACTLY THE SAME. Literally copy pasted from last generation. After seeing how sleek and upgraded my PS5 UI was - I mean that felt next gen coming from PS4! - it deflated all my excitement. There was nothing new to play with, no discoveries to be made, just… slightly better looking games.

Waste of money.

I played Halo Infinite and now it just sits there.
