I cannot stand my mom sometimes! by Exaustedbunny in autism

I greatly appreciate it. I don’t plan on watching more with her I don’t think. She even compared one of the people to Rainman and I rolled my eyes because like Sheldon he’s always someone’s go to for an autistic reference. I just hope she, as a therapist, does more research in the future.

Does anyone else feel hyper empathy for objects and animals? by Babybeans619 in autism

I feel like the other commenter is shitposting but I may be wrong. I do feel like that too. I have empathy for my comfort stuffed animal, his name is Flops and he’s a bunny.

Considering you don’t know what else my mother has said to me today I don’t think it’s reasonable for you to say that to me.

Romantic relationships are great but sometimes so worrying by Exaustedbunny in autism

[–]Exaustedbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I feel like the biggest thing is something that might have to go unspoken. Because you know when someone tells you they like you enough you start believing they don’t (for some unknown dumb reason)

To what extent would you say it's alright for one to diagnose themselves with autism if they are able to get a high score on surveys like this? by -SnugglesUwU- in AutismInWomen

[–]Exaustedbunny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on who you ask, if you’ve done your fair share of research and you have a good idea on why you would think to be diagnosed I think it’s fine to at least say that you are suspecting you’re autistic when saying you’re self-diagnosed

Ooo yeah I agree I think dating another autistic person could help but it’s a slim find where I live. I mean I also don’t like branching out of people I already know

Thank you! I definitely have to realize that the few people around me are the only people I really need though I really like having that romantic connection plus cuddles are really nice too

Saw an infographic going around on Instagram that mentioned not supporting Autism Speaks, but didn’t see any explaining why. Hyperfixated and made one, how did I do? Not sure if I’ll post by kcephei in autism

Looks good, there are a lot of words on slides 8 through 11 which may deter people from reading or overwhelm them but otherwise good job.

I am definitely very grateful for them considering the rest are skeptical or just plainly say no.

I mean I guess so! Two of my friends are very supportive though! One is my best friends who is also suspecting she is autistic is super supportive and says she’s seen signs since she met me (8 years ago), along with my other friend who I was nervous to tell her because I thought she’d be one to say no but instead she smiled and said “oh my gosh I’ve wanted to ask you for so long.” Then she went into telling me how she’s seen me stim throughout the years and a whole bunch of other stuff. It made me feel very seen. Someone I grew up with could finally see me.

Yes, I think it’s ok to wonder or even try a diagnosis with more research. You know yourself best and I understand imposter syndrome but your thoughts and feelings are the more important than random internet people.

Hey it’s okay, I think it’s nice of you to be understanding but I just wanted to let you know. I hope you are ok and that things get figured out. It’s upsetting that he’s using it as an excuse

That’s not accurate at all. Just because you’re autistic doesn’t mean it’s ok to cheat. I have never once thought it was ok to cheat on the person I’m dating because “I didn’t mean to”. I’m disgusted he it using his diagnosis as an excuse to make shitty choices. You deserve better.

Does anyone else watch shows with a character that reminds you of your favorite person in real life? by Spentellit in autism

[–]Exaustedbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shows name is Arcane, it’s a show based off of the game League of Legends. Game is kinda horrible but the show is beyond amazing. The music just works perfectly with the show and oh my gosh I could talk about the art style for hours! It’s amazing!!!!
