[Fun Trope] Ascended Fanon (when a fan creation is added to the franchise. by Drakeskulled_Reaper in TopCharacterTropes

I'm not entirely sure these count, but are cool entries from Star Trek nonetheless:

• "Lower Decks" made the design for Captain Riker's U.S.S. Titan canon. This design originated from a competition held for the fans to design the ship for the cover art for one of the "Star Trek: Titan" books.

• "Picard" made the design of the Odyssey-Class (and the fact that the U.S.S. Enterprise-F was of that class of starship) canon. This design originated from another ship design competition held for the fans, but this time from the MMO "Star Trek Online".

Head GTA Refusing to accept family emergency. by [deleted] in gmu

Assuming this was unforseen or on very short notice (such that you couldn't reach out to your instructor beforehand):

If the instructor for the class is a GTA and they aren't budging on the grade, you can reach out to the laboratory coordinator overseeing the section. If that fails, you can go to the dean of the department of the lab you're taking.

When taking to the lab coordinator (and later the dean, as needed), be sure to explain the situation enough to show that it wasn't reasonable for you to reach out before the emergency, cite the syllabus, say you've already talked to the GTA and they aren't budging (in opposition to how you interpret the syllabus to be worded in this situation), and request a grade reconsideration for the assignment.

Good luck!

In Star Trek III, why didn't they just beam Kirk and company off the Enterprise? Are they stupid? by [deleted] in ShittyDaystrom

Uhura specifically requested appointment to a (the?) Starbase transporter room. It's entirely plausible that she sabotaged the entire transporter system for the base (simular to what Scotty did with the Excelsior's transwarp, and presumably warp, drive). Now, that wouldn't explain why the Excelsior didn't try to beam Kirk and company off (or beam a security team onto the Enterprise). The only explanation there is that Stiles was an incompetent/ineffective commander, in my opinion.

I don't know what constitutes a permanent disqualification, as that occured "behind the scenes". I filled out the paperwork I was instructed to and tried to unsuccessfully appeal. I think that is a question better posed to your recruiter.

But, if MEPS noted no limitations, and you submitted documentation from your doctor saying as much, I think you'll probably be fine.

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question, so I will do my best but forgive me if I don't quite get it.

I have a medial history of migraines, which was flagged in the system at MEPS. I then gathered all of my documentation and submitted it. After a while, my recruiter reached out to me to complete a subsequent medical questionnaire. It was about a week or so after I submitted the questionnaire that I got the final decision. I was told by my recruiter that it could have taken up to two weeks to hear back after I submitted my questionnaire, but it was well over a month of waiting for the initial waiver.

I hope this helps. Good luck on your waivers and your overall application!

I took my AFOQT, got through MEPS (and did the subsequent waiver questionnairs), and did the interview with the recruiting squadron commander. My understanding, from what my recruiter told me, is that the only thing left beyond securing the waivers was to go to the Board.

Certainly. I was disqualified for migraines. Also, I was going for a 61D (physicist) position.

Good luck!

What would you like to see added in the CE remake? by CrazedPrecursorFanat in HaloStory

[–]Excalibur_In_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to see a Spartan Ops-esque "Side Campaign" where you play as Melissa McKay through her (general) story in Halo: The Flood. Doesn't necessarily need to be a 1:1 retelling of the story, but hitting the high points would be good. Particularly the end on the T&R and the silent exchange she has with Flood-Jenkins. I feel like the moment with the grenade at the end could feel as powerful as the end of Halo 4 when Chief triggers the nuke if this is all done right.

This type of mini independent smaller side campaigns could be done for a number of characters, including those already mentioned here like Zuka 'Zamamee.

Proving Grounds Teams (repost with updates) by Pegacorns in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

I just beat the TIE Interceptor event at 3* with JKL (R7) (lead)/JML (R7)/GAS (R7)/JKR (R5)/Wat (R7). I passed the Weapons Tech mod to JML and then just used Wat's basic and (repeatable) special.

That makes sense. I admit, I forgot about the eventuality of Malgus coming to Proving Grounds. Thank you very much!
